The Official Kicker (K) Thread (1 Viewer)

Bears K Eddy Pineiro (knee) is active for Week 3 against the Redskins Monday night.

"Dinero" Pineiro was questionable with a knee issue in his kicking leg, but he's ready to roll fresh off drilling the game-winning field goal last week in Denver. Inactive for the Bears are DB Kevin Toliver, DB Sherrick McManis, RB Kerrith Whyte, LB Josh Woods, RT Bobby Massie (illness), WR Riley Ridley, and DL Bilal Nichols.

Yeah kickers can be hard to predict but he’s been screwing me, gotta grab someone else
So far it hasn't cost me any games but 4, 7, and 1 point in his first 3 games is no bueno. It seems whatever issues Houston was having last season with RZ conversion are gone.

On my league some of the better know veteran names are actually available (Crosby, Bailey, McManus, Bryant) are still out there. But they've been dogs*** so far too.

Still scratching my head on what to do with Slye.

He had a quiet day even though the team didn't miss a beat with Kyle Allen -- actually saved from a poor day by kicking a late game FG to net 8, which I guess I can't complain about.

Guess he's a hold for now?
Was thinking along the same lines - held him for Week 3. Who knew that Carolina would punch it in so many times?! I've been waiting for Badgley to come around, but Slye is the number one kicker in my league...

Yeah, I'm actually trying to pick him up this week.  Dropping Elliot for him.  The Eagles are too aggressive on 4th down for my tastes (in regard to my fantasy kicker).

Chargers K Mike Badgley (groin) remained sidelined on Thursday.

Badgley will be sidelined for the fourth time in four games, once again leaving kicking duties to P Ty Long, who has been shaky in the role. The Chargers need to start thinking about alternatives.

Bears K Eddy Pineiro (knee) is questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Vikings.

Pineiro was questionable last week as well and ultimately played. We expect him to suit up again this Sunday. Targeting kickers in the week's lowest-implied game isn't a great idea.

I fail to understand why the Chargers aren't signing a guy like Cody Parkey or Giorgio Tavecchio or some other FA K, instead of relying on their punter, who has not been good.

Strange.

*tap tap tap* is this thing on?

Thinking about a K co test, but don’t wanna interrupt any important K news.

Shooting for week 5. So not this week which is week 4,  but next week. Because that’s week 5.

Everyone still hates kickers right? Heck, one of my leagues removed them this year by nearly a unanimous vote.  :sadbanana:  So what better way to love Kickers than to pick one that’ll win you some hot sauce?   :excited:

So here we go with plenty of time for people to get in: the first 2019 officially unofficial FBG K contest!

Rules are simple:

1. USA only - you can enter from anywhere, but I’ll only ship a prize to a US address.

2. No edited posts. If you made a mistake, delete & repost. Edited posts are DQ’d.

3. In the event of a tie, the tiebreaker goes to the earliest timestamp. In other words, it won’t help you to duplicate someone else’s guess so best to take a second & check prior entries.

4. Pick the kicker you believe will have the highest total score of week #5. Also guess the longest kick they’ll make. The closest to both metrics wins.

5. Scoring is .1/1, so a 46 yard FG = 4.6 points.

6. Negative scoring for chip shots. MFG under 30 & MPAT = -1

7. Don’t forget to guess the long-distance for your K’s longest FG.

there is is - pick your pony, tell us how many points they’ll score & what their long will be & if you’re the closest to the mark, you’ll win a 3-pack of Lucky Dog Hot Sauce,. It’s gourmet AF (as the kids say these days)

good luck!

Gonna roll with Lutz: 17pts, long of 48yds

thanks for the opportunity

I just wish I was in a Punter position league so I could rack up the extra points.
Lost a game last week because my opponent’s punter souble-dipped.

That said, the Chargers’ special teams coach had to be thanking their lucky stars every year that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers exist.  Otherwise their inability to field a capable kicker for as long as they have been trying would be a national joke.

Trying to figure out if all these people posting kicker numbers can’t read, or if they’re just boldly projecting matchups a week out with reckless disregard for potential injuries and changes in circumstance in order to get their favorite player locked in.  Can’t tell for sure, since no one has picked Prater yet...

Or I’m the one misreading...it happens with a disturbingly high frequency,

i wondered the same.

I did say it pretty clearly, and bolded & italicized it.

So yeah.- I think they’re just super confident. We’ll see if anyone picks a week 5 BYE kicker I guess.

Just a question (since the last time I tried to PM you, I couldn't).

Are you going to have a hot sauce kicker contest this year?  And if so, are former winners still eligible?

I remember winning once, it may have been year before last, and it was good enough I made a decent order on top of it.  (this dude's hot sauce is legit, even if his dynasty teams aren't)  :excited: J/K

From memory, I think you have your contests later in the season, like week 9 or10-ish , but I can't remember, I'm old.

And just to keep this thread on kickers.........  You guys can have Prater if you want. I will never own him again.

I started him in a league in week 2 (with a side bet too on my heads up match I might add), and Prater missed one FG, AND an extra point.

I lost that week  110.80 - 110.81 Yes, thats right, by  .01  (Also started KAMARA and FREEMAN who were both brutal that week, but Prater gets my boot.....pun intended)

Interestingly enough, I also started  DERRICK HENRY that week, and was down by .11, even told my buddy to wait for stat corrections.  Funnily enough, indeed I *DID* get a stat correction on Derrick Henry, and was awarded .10 only to lose the week by .01  Doesn't get any closer of a loss than that does it...?  :wall:

Was so sickened by it I didn't even post it in the Bragging/Venting/Grieving/Puking thread.

Seriously, let me know about any kicker contest.

OH, FFS, I should have read up the damn thread, had no idea you had already started this.

 Geesh......

EDIT - Any way you can make a dedicated thread for your contest HSG??

TZM <~~~~~~~ NOT so observant.  :wall:

I jumped the gun with my guess.  This contest is a classic form of The Price Is Right.  If anyone else picks Lambo, I will adjust my points based on their projected points.  The guy with the last guess has a huge advantage, so this thread should be rocking right before kickoff.

Yes its a bit of an advantage.

But @TheWinz - you will be surprised. Its not a massive "blow up thread" number of participants. It may be different , depending on how he has mentioned it before, or maybe the weeks he runs it. I know he has run it at differing times of the season. I noticed a few times its not nearly as many entrants as I would have  expected  , but thats a good thing, less headache for HSG on his end and entries to keep tabs on. (and its easier to win :) / less entrants)

I forget how HSG had it set up before, but I *THINK" the "longest FG guess" was set up for tie-breakers.  But to be honest I think he has adjusted it a couple times over the years, and I really can't remember details.

But regardless, it is extremely nice of him, he does this on his own bill, free of charge.

The year I actually won a few bottles, I went ahead and bought a case and gave it out to guys I play poker with. (and kept several bottles for myself :excited: )

I remember the "Green Label Jalapeno & Serrano" and the "Red Label Garlicky roasted pepper" were favorites of mine.

@Hot Sauce Guy

Just curious. Do you have any restaurant accounts in the Boston area? I go out to breakfast every weekend and always use hot sauce on eggs and potatoes. Local places have the typical hot sauce offerings. I have about 4 different flavors of Lucky Dog at home, but don't want bring my own as I don't think that respectful to the business.

No, I’m in several in the SF Bay Area, but the shipping to the east coast would kill any possibility, even at restaurant pricing.

many restaurants won’t put out anything better than Tapatio/Tabasco, because customers steal it.

There’s no disrespect in bringing sauce to a restaurant - I do it all the time. Of course, I usually leave the bottle for the waitstaff, but I brought sauce with me even before I had a company.

:)

No editing allowed. If you want to adjust your guess, clear your post & post a new one with the updated guess.

Bummer. Sort of a big thing, IMHO.
I think I can get the commissioner in my league to make him available. I can view him in the database but because he’s listed as a punter I can’t add him. I know a couple of years ago I was able to get the commissioner to toggle Montgomery back and forth between RB and WR.

Who can't add T. Long on Yahoo! because he's not listed?
I'm currently going with J. Meyers of SEA in what should be a high scoring game in AZ without any weather.

Tempted by T. Long for obvious reasons. Is he any good?? He'll obviously get his chances and maybe the LAC will be slightly less efficient due to all kinds of injuries on offense. I'd be in full LAC load up though since I'm already starting Ekeler and K. Allen.

However, the weather could be an issue:

LAC @ MIA -

Breezy day in MIA, winds should come in right around (or even over) 15mph sustained with gusts closer to 25mph. I do think we'll see some impacts to both the passing and kicking game. Putting this at ORNG for now, will lower to YLW if I see the wind forecast start to dip. Also a chance for a pop-up showers/storms, fairly typical of MIA there, likely won't know if we'll actually see rain until Sunday AM.
