**The Official Randall 'touchdown robber' Cobber Bandwagon** (2 Viewers)

I find it difficult to believe the Packers would let a young and talented receiver like Cobb walk in free agency easily.
Antonio Freeman, Desmond Howard, Bill Schroeder, Corey Bradford, Terry Glenn, Javon Walker, Greg Jennings, James Jones, etc. The Packers have never been overly loyal to their WRs (Donald Driver being the rare exception).

Nor have those WRs found much success outside of GB.

The difference, though, is that Cobb just turned 24. Those guys were late 20s or 30s when dumped.

Sure, each case is unique. Perhaps GB won't dump him since he is still so young.

I think his yardage will increase. The Vikings game, he led the team in targets with FOUR. He's great at the Rodgers redzone scramble drill.

and now my favorite brocacaho named the touchdown robber is over a hondo yards he is really good you guys and you heard it right here first take that to the bank bromigos

fauster it waas probably a bears fan trying to make him more mild by not using secret stadium sauce because rt2rc is just one spicy fast muchacho take that to the bank brohans

Rotoworld:

Randall Cobb caught 6-of-7 targets for 121 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay's Week 7 win over the Panthers.

The yards were a new season high, while Cobb has now scored in 6-of-7 games. His seven touchdown receptions led all wideouts entering Week 7. Cobb's touchdown rate is still likely to regress — he's not going to score 18 times — but 12-15 is shaping up as a real possibility. Cobb will be a huge threat to find the end zone in Week 8 against the Saints' terrible defense.

Randall Cobb likes hot dogs with ketchup, just not on jersey

Excerpt:

Ketchup with your touchdown, sir: If Randall Cobb keeps catching touchdown passes at this rate -- he tied his career-high with his eighth touchdown (in just the seventh game of the season) -- who knows what else he'll see on his future Lambeau Leaps? But he was quite surprised to come out of the stands with ketchup all over his No. 18 jersey after his 3-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. "I apologize to whoever's hot dog that was," Cobb said. "It was fresh. I know that because I had all of the ketchup on me." Cobb said he likes hot dogs, even ones with ketchup. "I wasn't expecting one to get on my shoulder pads, though," said Cobb, who caught six passes for 121 yards.

I'm starting to think the Packers will re-sign Cobb during the upcoming bye week. Cobb is essential to this offense, especially in those many situations where Rodgers is forced to scramble.

We need him back with a passion. Of all the free agents he is really a must sign. While Adams is coming around it will be nice to not have to start over looking for that 3WR again especially as the TE position is kinda mediocre at the current time. Also it open up the possibility of having abracadabra come in next year and give us 4 solid WRs. (Rodgers loves him some abracadabra it sounded like)

In the end Cobb and Nelson are the two top WRs in my book on the team but as long as Rodgers keeps spreading the ball around it actually helps Cobb as the team will keep driving the ball downfield giving him more TD chances in the red zone.

Rotoworld:

Randall Cobb caught 7-of-11 targets for 85 yards in Green Bay's Week 13 win over the Patriots.
Cobb got off to a slow start as he drew attention from Darrelle Revis, but ended up tying his second-highest reception total of the season. Cobb's best play came on a 3rd-and-5 early in the second quarter, as he streaked out of the backfield to catch a 33-yard pass down the sideline. With 75 percent of the season now in the books, the free-agent-to-be is on pace for a sparkling 87/1,229/13 line. All three totals would be new career highs.

Can they resign Cobb at anytime or is there a point where they have to wait until the offseason? If they can resign him at anytime, what is the hold up?

(KFFL) Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb is the team's top priority in the offseason, and the Packers are trying to work out a long-term deal to keep Cobb in Green Bay.
Randall Cobb is Packers' first free-agent priorityBob McGinn

Excerpts:

Green Bay — Randall Cobb has earned the right to stand at the head of the class in the Green Bay Packers' planning for 2015 and beyond.

The Packers are attempting to re-sign Cobb to a long-term contract extension. Of the 11 players headed for unrestricted free agency, Cobb is their priority.

It won't be easy, however, for management to extend Cobb. Decisions and negotiations regarding Bryan Bulaga, Tramon Williams and perhaps Davon House won't be cut and dried, either.

Whatever happens, it's almost a certainty that general manager Ted Thompson will be active in free agency again.
The Packers surely wouldn't want to pay Cobb more than Jordy Nelson. More than likely, however, agent Jimmy Sexton will push the envelope and seek to surpass the four-year extension signed by Nelson in July that averaged $9.75 million and contained $11.5 million in guarantees.

Cobb's leverage comes in the form of his outstanding play this season and the threat of unrestricted free agency, although top wide receivers Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas, Torrey Smith, Michael Crabtree and Jeremy Maclin all have expiring contracts, too.

Giving the Packers leverage is the chance to keep on catching passes from Aaron Rodgers as well as the series of injuries that Cobb already has suffered and might continue to suffer as a small man in a big-man's game.

Sexton undoubtedly will use a few wide receivers with contracts even more lucrative than Nelson's. The Packers might work off the five-year deal averaging $6.2 million ($13.25 million guaranteed) that Golden Tate received from Detroit to leave Seattle in March.

Greg Cosell's Week 13 Analysis: The Packers' counter to the Pats' DExcerpt:

The Green Bay Packers knew, based on what the New England Patriots have shown for most of this season, that their offense would see a lot of man coverage.

And their answer for the Patriots was simple and effective: four-receiver sets, with Randall Cobb as the moveable chess piece aligning all over the formation to counter that man coverage. It was a great plan, to isolate advantageous matchups.

Perhaps the best example came in the second quarter. Cobb lined up offset in the backfield, something the Packers showed on their first possession (they also had receiver Jarrett Boykin in the backfield on the first possession) and the Patriots stayed man-to-man with cornerback Kyle Arrington on Cobb. Cobb was lined up offset to the bunch side (three receivers lined up close to each other) of the field. My guess, based on seeing the film, is the Patriots rule is that if a back releases outside, then the outside linebacker peels and runs with him. Cobb was lined up as a back. Outside linebacker Rob Ninkovich ran with Cobb. Arrington couldn’t get through the traffic created by the receivers bunched up.

Then, Cobb’s wheel route against Ninkovich is a big mismatch. He gained 33 yards.

Little drought lately. Interesting trivia, this was the 4th game of the year that he had exactly 58 yards.

Yeah...I think this season proved Boykin is JAG...Adams has flashed potential. ..but not enough.

Now the QB has spoken. Pay that man his money.

Rotoworld:

Speaking Thursday, walk-year WR Randall Cobb said he's yet to begin long-term talks with the Packers.

"I guess there's still more to do," Cobb said. "So, just continue to put my nose down every day and focus on getting the team into the playoffs, and doing everything I can to bring back the Super Bowl." Cobb is 12th in the NFL in receiving (1,076 yards), while his 10 scores are tied for eighth. ESPN's Rob Demovsky believes the Pack are more likely to re-sign Cobb than not.

I'm more concerned about him finding the end zone again. It's been 5 weeks since he's scored a TD and those of us with championship games to win are hoping he breaks out of that.
Just missed the last two games. Couple of catches near the GL. Yeah he's way overdue for a TD.

Love this guy. Teddy better lock him up.
I agree. They need Cobb, and yes he is soo overdue for a TD......or maybe two.

Everything Ted Thompson does as a GM is based on keeping guys like Cobb in the fold. It'd be an enormous surprise if Cobb wasn't re-signed.

Cobb will resign for a reasonable, yet generous amount. There are many factors this year that play in Green Bay's favor. The first factor is that he is wr #2 on the Packers. Sure he has had a great season, but he is not on the same level as Jordy. Secondly, you have the rookie class. Are there 5 or maybe 6 guys who look like future all pros? Why pay major bucks when you already have talent on your team? Last but not least, there are many, many great free agent wrs this year. Dez, Demarius, Crabtree, Torry Smith, Roddy, Maclin, Shorts are all good options for the few teams who will be willing to break the bank on a wr.

1) Which WRs on the team have displayed Cobb's talent? Boykin? Janis? Adams? Only one you can say that about is Adams. Maybe. He's displayed it in a few games, but, then again, so did Boykin last year.

2) You have a very loose definition of great WRs. Crabtree? Torry Smith? Roddy White? Maybe a couple of years ago but his better days are past. Shorts? Good but not great WR and he can't stay healthy. Only 2 WRs on your list will get more or close to what Cobb gets.

I think Cobb will more than likely be back. But, if a team blows him away with an offer i don't think Green Bay will overpay. Then it will come down to whether Cobb wants to take a discount to stay in Green Bay which he should probably do, but who knows for sure what he's thinking.

Can they afford him?
Perhaps the better question: do they want to afford him?
There is almost no chance the Packers let Cobb walk. No idea why people in here think otherwise.
Agreed...I think beginning the year, they may have been willing if Boykin and Adams stepped up. Even then, Cobb is still young, its different than the Jones and Jennings situations a bit and he is more dynamic.

But...now with Boykin being invisible and Adams being an inconsistent rookie...I just can't see them letting Cobb go, and the gamble of letting him play out this season will cost them a few extra $$$.

One of the things Wolf always said was he regretted not getting enough weapons around Favre at times. Thompson was one of Wolf's guys and I would guess those words ring in his head sometimes.

Rotoworld:

Randall Cobb - WR - Packers

Randall Cobb caught 4-of-5 targets for 80 yards and two touchdowns in the Packers' Week 17 win over the Lions.

It was a fitting end to what was easily the best regular season of Cobb's four-year career. He heads into the playoffs the owner of a 91/1,287/12 line. All three totals blow by his previous personal bests.
