Tournaments only gramps. Card rooms frown upon stud tables because the drop/hour is horrible.Don't get much do ya slugger.

Bottom line is that only 310 signed up for it. FOSSILS are the only ones that play it. 481 played $1500 8-game mixed last year.Bottom line was obviously who would ya like to play cards with.
No real need to....well who plays......sheesh~~
Dude, just how damn serious do you think this thread was suppose to be, just have fun with it, ok? Relax, ok?Tournaments only gramps. Card rooms frown upon stud tables because the drop/hour is horrible.

Joey, when you start a thread watch how I respect the topic and talk about your topic. We aren't little kids so how about cooling at all siliness and act like a mature adult, ok?Find your “spot”.
And always bet on world class speed.
Yes, I’m trolling.
I actually do love mixed games, and Stud 8 is great, but I've come around to be one of those "big bet games are inherently superior" people.Playing poker tonight with regular group. We play a lot of 7 stud variations. We also play Omaha most games are hi-low split.
We rarely play hold-em. But I will play it tonight in honor of FBG
Whats 3-5-7?At work, we had a weekly game where we used to play nothing but hold em and things got really serious. Everyone reading books. Improving their game. This was during the Moneymaker poker boom. And then...things got really boring and too serious. Everyone was freaking concentrating so much, not enough chatter, not close to enough laughs. I stopped playing.
My family is a big card playing family. A family of gamblers. Home games with them were a blast. Lots of yelling, screaming, laughing, coffee, dessert, more yelling (Italian American family ). That’s what I love about playing poker. The laughs, the stories, the ribbing.
So, yeah, now when the friends get together to play poker, we'll do a round or two of hold'em, but we also have dealer's choice and play stud games, wild card games, insane "match the pot" games like 3-5-7 and Acey-Deucy. It’s more fun that way imo.
Oh. It’s nuts. Google "poker 3 5 7" and you’ll find plenty of sites with the full rules. To try to keep it brief:Whats 3-5-7?
Makes perfect sense. Sounds funOh. It’s nuts. Google "poker 3 5 7" and you’ll find plenty of sites with the full rules. To try to keep it brief:
everyone gets 3 cards. 3s are wild (best hand is 3 Aces). Look at your cards. Decide if you want to stay in or not. Everyone holds out their cards face down, hovering above the table. Dealer says "1 2 3 drop". If you wanted to stay in, you didn’t drop your cards. If you wanted to go out you dropped your cards. Players with cards still in their hand pass them to each other (so only they see each other's cards) and decide who won that hand. Winner gets what’s in the pot. Losers match the pot (the pots can grow FAST).
Next, everyone keeps their first 3 cards and now get 2 more cards. Now 5s are wild (3s aren’t wild anymore). Same routine as before. Drop if you want out. Hold if you want in. Privately compare cards. Winner gets pot. Losers match pot.
Finally repeat with 7 cards, 7s wild.
If you’re the only player who holds his cards, you get a point. First person to 2 points wins and ends the game. Until that happens, you keep looping through 3, 5, 7, reshuffle, 3, 5, 7, etc til someone gets 2 points.
The tension from a Match-the-Pot game like this is so much fun. Lots of nervous laughter when you’re deciding to hold your cards with a pile of cash you might have to match in the pot in front of you.
One last note: when you stay in, you get to see the other player's cards, as noted. You of course use this to your advantage later. So if I hold a pair of 7s in the 3 card hand, that’s only a small pair. But if you stay in with your pair of As and win that pot, you know that I’ll have 2 wild cards when we get to the 7s hand.
Hope that rambling made some sense.
It is fun. But it can turn a "ok, I’m just buying in for $40 and that’ll last the night" kind of poker night into a "um...how much do I owe? 80 more? Oh, ok".Makes perfect sense. Sounds fun
I'm going to have to do some researching. We played Guts (3-2-1?) in college(UNL)40 years ago. If I recall, it was high hand and pot matching. We always do a nice match the pot version of Guts with some house rules ($20 max burn). Gotta beat the dealer to scoop the pot
2-3 beats A-A
you stay with 10-6 or worse you auto win, or if multiple people stay with 10-6 or worse lowest hand wins (7-5 would beat 8-5, etc)
always seems to be some $100 pots towards the end of the night (typical buy ins are $25)
We used to play this to 3 points (we called them marks). Instead of dropping cards everyone held their fist out with or without a chip in it. Re-ante after each round so the pot and tension grows.Oh. Yeah, nobody here ever gambles. We don't get it.Been a gambler all my life.
Processing information looking for an edge then when things go exactly as that info pointed at, what a rush.
Always funny when those who just do not understand it........all that stuff don't mean nothing....ha~~~
Ok man then this should be easy for a guy like you,Yeah, nobody here ever gambles. We don't get it.
We play it a bit different but I have played it your way before. Same deal where 3's are wild on first 3, deal 2 more and 5's are wild, deal 2 more and 7's are wild. Only we don't do 123 drop. Dealer has position on very first hand. 1st guy to his left verbally says in or out. same until it gets to dealer. If all players out then deal next 2 cards. If you said out before anyone said in then you have the opportunity to say in as it comes around again.Oh. It’s nuts. Google "poker 3 5 7" and you’ll find plenty of sites with the full rules. Sure, I would. Been a long time but I'm pretty sure I was around on chiptalk as well. I have a set of custom clays, can't remember the mfg. at this point, it's been 15yrs probably lolI'm going to have to do some researching. We played Guts (3-2-1?) in college(UNL)40 years ago. If I recall, it was high hand and pot matching.
Picked up cards again with the poker boom playing hold'em. Played in pub leagues to win food/drink vouchers, a number of sit and gos in AC & Vegas, and my place after last call. We'd send somebody to 7-11 when they unlocked the beer coolers at 7am. Won a high hand jackpot in AC in a limit game, hitting a royal on the turn (I think I came) and slow playing the boat to my right. I think the jackpot was $300 or $500.
I was also a member of the chiptalk forum and discovered faux clays chips (both cash and tournament & cheap; my ROI may have been greater than you ******* holding BTC, when production was discontinued). Also bought into customs group buys, "Private Card Room" (Chinese made tournaments) and an ASM cash set based on the Rounders movie. Instead of the bear logo, you have a donkey with denominations in cents.
Alas, not much poker in recent years. My bathroom trips have become more frequent
ETA: I'll blow the dust off my imgur account and post pictures of the ASM's if anyone is interested.
1) MeYou could play poker with four others
