Well anyways that's almost definitely why he's leaving the radio.

The 5-minute fast forward button on Comcast remotes works perfectly for this, though (yes, each commercial break is 5 minutes).   I watch the Rusillo show every day on DVR in my home office, start it an hour in, never have to watch/hear a commercial.  

It's just background noise most of the time....as is most ESPN programming outside of live sports.

 
Bomani was doing a remote show at Jersey Mike's in Raleigh.  I don't eat breakfast I go to lunch around 11.  The place was less than a minute from where I work and didn't know he was going to be there.  

I always wear a carolina hurricanes hat and was the only person in there when he started railing on the hurricanes attendance.  I was a STH at the time and he might have been trolling me but nothing he said wasn't true.  Didn't piss me off either.  Just finished lunch and waved as I left.

As a white guy I like a different perspective from a black guy that is different.

You can always find something better.  Of local guys are doing stuff I couldn't care about, I go bomani and vise versa.  

It's radio, I have a choice.

 
I have nothing against Bomani Jones, really no opinion either way - I can listen to him, but I don't have any attachment to him. I get the sense that in 5 years or whenever the time comes, they'll try to replace Mike & Tony with Bomani & Pablo... TBH, that will prob be the end of PTI for me, nothing against him (or them), I've just thoroughly enjoyed Mike & Tony and I don't think anyone can really replace them for my liking. 

If he did have the worst radio ratings in ESPN history, I'd say it is pretty stupid to give the guy his own TV show - just seems like poor judgement from a business stance, but I don't care enough to go verify if the ratings thing is true. I can't imagine it is and then they reward bad ratings with a TV spot... Then again, they seem pretty mismanaged.

Wonder if Michael Smith will rethink his stance if he gets let go.  It would be funny if they dropped him and kept Jamele (or whatever her name is).

I thought Danny Kannell was really good on the Russillo show, I was sorry to see them split up.  I'm guessing he was an anti-management type of guy so they offed him.

And ESPN has him back because the SiriusXM College Sports is now ESPNU.  He is on there talking college football.

Wilbon has amazing chemistry with Kornheiser and their shtick works wonderfully. 

Who does Jones have good chemistry with?   LeBatard's dad?  Pablo Torre? I would bet money Torre is disliked by a lot of his ATH panelists because he always feels the need to use the biggest words possible to look and sound smarter.  It's like, yeah, we know you are smart and can use big words...not how about growing a personality?

I kind of always wished Bomani and Pablo as the replacements for PTI when Tony and Mike go. Those two have great chemistry. Both are very likable IMO. I don't listen to Bomani too much since he has left LeBetard, but he always seemed pretty chill.

As bad as she is, I actually find Smith to be the more irritating one of the 2. Especially on TV where his nerdjerk mannerisms are there to see.

I've hated Michael a long time. His early days on Around The Horn when he was new on the network he was great. Toward the end (I'd assume just for show) he developed his current narcissist persona that he's kept to this day.

Tough to "see reality" when you go from Maryland Frat Boy to $5 mil salary in a few years.  I'd defend that shiste to the death too.

ETA: I LOVE SVP and almost nothing he says will change that.  He 99% gets it.  This is the 1% where he doesn't.

Do you guys even read the stuff you quote? He said its impossible to cancel espn on itself so anybody cancelling their whole package based off that transgender espy just to get back at espn is too stupid to pray for. 

It's amazing how people just don't bother to read/listen to the whole thing.

He's still wrong.  I haven't cancelled Directv because of the politics. But it does annoy me, and I haven't watched ONE thing on their network other than live sports in a few years.  I love SVP and would download his podcast if he was still on radio.  But I don't need him on tv.  And I love college sports, NFL, and golf, so I will still pay the fee to get those sports.  But I guarantee that people have cancelled cable to not give their money to ESPN because they so believe in not supporting Disney politics.

You do realize they keep firing people and cancelling shows because they are losing tons of money, right?  Personally, I think one of their problems is the market they target (younger people) don't watch TV as much as guys like us posters here.  I do think the political nonsense has turned people off.  He's right in that people that love live sports aren't cancelling ESPN but he comes off as bragging about them having a contract and ignoring the fact that people have stopped listening to nonsense like Bomani Jones and that's why he just got cancelled.
