No Pickles?
In hindsight my ranking was too high, but when i was younger it was must see TV.
No mention of Ralph Malph yet? I mean Richie was generally a boring character, but Malph was where it was at.
Potsie is an all time interesting TV character too. A guy who couldnt act at all, but looked good.
But obviously the heart of the show is Fonzie, Mr C and Mrs C.

Ted Danson gives me the impression that it's dull.

Wasn't the biggest Ted Danson or Kirsten Bell fan

Ted Danson was a turn-off for me in terms of being interested
I had no idea there was such a huge Anti-Ted Danson contingent on this board, or anywhere for that matter.

"Oh, it's a good board. Stock thread, fantasy football, general life tips, and they ****ing hate Ted Danson."
Definitely seems like an odd take. I don't think anything I have seen him in is bad. He was great in the new show The Inside Man as well.

You likely missed the one season of "Mr. Mayor."

I have never seen this and it might be another case of the name of the show steering me in the wrong direction. Looking at the trailer and this seems like it's right up my alley. For some reason I thought it was a drama that would be soap opera like and I credit it that to the name of the show.
Created by Michael Schur, which is all I really needed to know going in. He’s got credit for some of the greatest comedy TV series this century.
Good posting. Those who are behind a series is usually a better way of looking at it than who the actors are.

Another staple of my childhood -- I was at the age where I saw the early seasons in syndication and the later ones as they aired. Good writing by '70s sitcom standards until the Joanie and Chachi and shark-jumping of it all.

When Fonzie became the breakout character, they gave up all attempts at time-and-place.
IIRC, they were hesitant at first to make him look like a dirtbag and had him wear that blue Members' Only jacket the first year.
Yep. The network (I forget if it was Standards and Practices or just some timid execs) decreed that Fonzie could not wear his leather jacket unless he was on or with his motorcycle. So they wrote most of his scenes with the motorcycle until the network caved.

The Good Place

This is one where you figure you'll watch one mindless episode before doing something else and before you know it your being asked if you're still alive by the streaming device.

She came stumblin’ in and left just as quickly.

68 - Happy Days
It is a great thing that Henry Winkler is having a late career resurgence. I will watch him in anything. He is an excellent comedic actor who should have prospered post-Happy Days, but because he was identified so strongly and permanently with that one character, it clearly hindered him.

Whenever I see him in interviews he always comes across as funny, gracious and grateful.

His story about meeting Paul McCartney: https://youtu.be/7ecS-Qoo7mc?t=129

I have not seen the good place yet but I want to. There IS a show that I do like and should have listed but it got lost in the shuffle, Dead like me. Don't know if anyone has seen it or if I'm the only one that likes it. I had considered the movie for my fantasy countdown but it wasn't really that good.

I just really need to get netflix

I think Dark has 2 things going against it that make it less accessible

1. It's in German
2. You almost need a wiki companion guide to follow what's happening.

But if you can get over that, it's one of the best time travel stories put to TV. Great story, satisfying conclusion. If plotlines like" somebody's daughter is also their mother and at the same time their own grandmother" appeals to you, watch this.
I need to watch Dark.....always wanted too.

74 - Peaky Blinders

Drama
Score: 391

Now I gotta find this one. Love this kind of stuff.

I really liked Dead Like Me, but it wasn't memorable enough, to me, to make my list.

I remember seeing promos for it on USA(?) -- but I never watched it.

I thought the premise of Dead Like Me was good for a movie or a shorter run series, but they produced too many episodes and it ran out of steam.
I thought the show's creator did a better job with another show, Pushing Daisies.

Man, you miss a couple days and twenty shows go by. Sorry it's so long.

68 Happy Days - #11 on my list. Yeah, it jumped the shark and I probably ranked it a little too high, but this show was the **** back in the day. My cousin (a dude) had a terry-cloth poster of the Fonz in his room and nobody thought it was anything but awesome.

70/69 - The Good Place, Firefly - Never watched either of these.

71 Mr. Robot - #34 on my list. Loved this show, I enjoy being surprised and this one got me a couple of times. It took maybe 4 episodes before I was hooked.

72 Fawlty Towers - I maybe saw a little bit of it thirty years ago and it was just too British. If that's a thing. 'Merica.

73 Sherlock - My wife and kids love this, I've never really watched it.

74 Peaky Blinders - I tried, but lost interest when the most suspicious and careful gang leader ever completely throws away all common sense for a pretty dame with nice gams.

75 Dark - I loved this show. I think I had dreams about it. I just forgot to rank it. Probably would've been top 50.

76 The Big Bang Theory - I have never seen an episode.

77 In Living Color - I forgot about this one. I still don't think it would've made my top 70, but it was a Sunday night staple along with Herman's Head.

78 30 Rock - I didn't catch it when it came out, and we tried to stream it. It's not bingeworthy and it probably was much better when it was released one episode per week.

79 Silicon Valley - I've seen the first couple episodes and enjoyed it, but it got lost in the shuffle. It's still on my watch list.

80 NewsRadio - I might have seen one or two episodes?

81 Mr. Inbetween - #50 on my list. I loved this show, just wish it had gone on for a few more seasons.

82 Modern Family - Loved the first few seasons. Then we just lost interest and quit watching.

83 Brooklyn Nine-Nine - We tried to watch this. The cast was a bunch of caricatures, not characters.

84 The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson - #8 on my list. This was a staple in my house for as long as I can remember. When I was 3 or 4 and couldn't sleep, I'd come out and watch this with the parents. Johnny apparently was not the greatest guy off screen, but he was the best late night host ever.

85 The Shield - I never watched it.

86 Fleabag - I'm just copying Atomic Punk's take - "enjoyed it, and the lead was fantastic … but top 70? Not for me anyway."

87 The Larry Sanders Show - #27 on my list. I loved the Gary Shandling Show and then loved this one as well. Art and Hank were awesome characters.

88 - The Boys - Loved the first three seasons. I will finish it, but it's not as good as it was.

89- Family Guy - Not a fan.

90 - The Mandalorian - I'm always looking for shows to watch with the kids. We tried but just weren't into it. We didn't make it through the first episode.

Not sure why I woke up this morning with this in my head. Hopefully not early dementia.

Safe to say this wont make the list

For the first time in this thread I'm jealous of someone getting to experience a show for the first time. I remember coming to this show late and wishing I had watched it when it aired.

Enjoy!

Same, and I agree with Pip. The Joanie and Chachi/shark jumping/Fonzi teaching/Richie joining the Army, etc of the last season or two was painful to watch.

Also can be partly attributed to what doctors call “Ted McGinleyitis”.

Alright. I'll watch it but the many ranked shows I've started and tapped out on is pretty high. I'm into to two Hulu shows atm. 3 is good.

If you weren't alive for Fonz-mania, it's not going to have the same impact.

absolutely - in fact I can't think of a pre-2000 sitcom that a gen Z'er would "drop in" and watch and consider to be good enough to watch on a regular basis

add to that - the entire atmosphere of only 3 channels (not counting PBS/public access) and the kind of centralized attention that created

You misspelled “Gilmore Girls”

Anyone else see the Netflix mini series Adolescence? It's four one hour episodes shot in real-time. Each episode, they turned the camera on and shot for an hour without any editing. But they go seamlessly in and out of buildings and vehicles. I can't even begin to imagine how much preparation went into it to have the exact timing down. The actors couldn't flub any lines. Really good stuff.
