I have the “I Met Li’l Sebastian” t-shirt.
There are few shows that I recorded and watched twice in an evening, discussed with co-workers at lunch the next day, and bought season dvds the day they were released. BSG is one of those shows. The first episode, post miniseries, 33, is one of my favorite episodes of any series and I re-watch it all the time. The intrigue of who was on which side was great. The characters were well developed and several were flawed to the point I believe they were insane. The final season was silly, but I find that to be true of most series.36 - Battlestar Galactica (2004)

Must have missed it somehow.Yep, it was only at #55I don’t believe the original Star Trek was listed yet.55 - Star Trek - my rank #7. I realize the sequels are "better" but this is the only one that I will stop and watch if I'm flipping channels. It was so campy and silly, but the characters were great, movies 2 and 4 were perfect, and this one set the stage for all of the sci-fi shows that came after. In retrospect, 7 seems a little high, but whatever, this was a classic that spawned a whole new genre of TV shows.
I should clarify that I didn’t get into either version. I only remember the Lorne Greene original.Wow, opposite for me. I loved the original. Starbuck and Apollo were awesome. I can't believe it only lasted one season, but I guess I was the only one watching.Never really got into this back in the day (the original that is) for some reason.36 - Battlestar Galactica (2004)

Maybe it was because I typecasted Lorne Greene too much as the Alpo dog food guy.
Never saw the reboot. May check it out some time, but not that high on my list. I'm shocked to see this so high however.

Yeah, I dabble in Sci-Fi or fantasy on occasion but I've never seen a single episode of Battlestar Galactica.Wow. Talk about
Battlestar Galactica? Texts and cheering over a fake spaceship jumping and landing? No wonder I die every time I’m on stage with this crowd.

For me - The thing about movies and shows that kind of lose their way plot or execution wise I can forgive as long as they nail the tone/emotion correctly.BSG is amazing sci-fi. Edward James Olmos is a badass.
A lot of people didnt like the ending. I thought it fit really well and the tie-ins to All Along the Watchtower were just so excellently done.
Did a rewatch recently and it holds up amazingly.

I don't quite get this but there is an explanation for how things ended up in season 4 and it has to do with the writers strikeThe BSG reboot started out great and deteriorated as it went along, to the point it was laughable for me by the end.
The 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike did, however, significantly impact the production and writing of Battlestar Galactica's final season:
- Production halt: Only the first half of the final season's episodes were completed before the strike caused production to stop3.
- Potential early ending: There was a possibility that the show might have ended earlier than planned due to the strike. Ronald D. Moore, the show's creator, had considered using the mid-season finale "Revelations" as a potential series finale if the strike prevented production from restarting1.
- Rethinking the ending: The strike actually gave the writers an opportunity to reconsider and revise their plans for the show's conclusion. Ronald D. Moore stated that they rewrote the second half of the season after the strike ended, making changes to improve the story6.
- Altered finale structure: The original script for the series finale had a non-linear structure and was much longer, with the initial cut being close to four hours. The strike and subsequent revisions led to a more linear structure in the aired version7.
Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff might be heavily influencing the ranking here. This is my first big surprise - didn't think Battlestar Galactica would be that high. Interesting.

Or a poor Leonardo DiCaprio if you will.I love seeing Boardwalk Empire so high, didn’t expect that. I think it’s pretty under appreciated. I thought Micheal Pitt was incredible and stole the show but I guess he was absolutely impossible to deal with as a person hence why he’s not gotten any more work.

I actually think Buscemi was playing against type as Nucky. The character was a charmer, but he had to scrap and claw his way to the top. I think casting a more traditionally handsome actor as Nucky would have been lazy. His charm would have been more easily explained because of his looks. Buscemi's Nucky ascension to power was due to his drive to rise above what was god given to him.Yes very much a younger Leo type, I’m sure he sort of modeled himself after Leo. He’s got some mental health issues I think thay have gotten worse. Just a little Google I see he’s gotten into some trouble recently including throwing dishes from a roof at people below and it sounds like the police may have taken him to a psych facility based on his demeanor. Too bad because he has a very captivating screen presence.I love seeing Boardwalk Empire so high, didn’t expect that. I think it’s pretty under appreciated. As for Boardwalk, the one thing I’m sure still not totally sure about is whether Buscemi was a good choice for Nucky. Michael Shannon was incredible. Jack Huston, Kelly Macdonald, Stephen Graham, Michael Stulhbarg and Shea Wigham all really stood out to me much more than Buscemi.

I had two sentences for this, but lets go verbose on this one.
I had fond, nostalgic memories of the original series. Even had fond memories of that season when they went low tech (I.e. low budget) and found late '70s?, early '80s earth?. So for this countdown I was tempted to go with the original, but if I had done that I'd have had to include (or bump it for) Salvage 1. While my "only one to list" list might suggest otherwise in a few weeks, nostalgia wasn't really criteria.
But that nostalgia had me reluctant to watch the 2004 version. I didn't watch until I moved into an area with lots of Mormons and figured catching up with the new version would give me a crash course in understanding my neighbors. That didn't work, in part as there was nothing to understand other than most were great and generous people. But the 2004 version did work for me as entertainment.
Almost enough to get the two NXIVM documentaries that I know about on to my list. Almost. Besides if I put those on the list there would have been another half dozen sex cult documentaries on the list.
Peak Grace Park too.Plenty to look at in the show. That's a cherry on top of them all giving top notch performances.Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff might be heavily influencing the ranking here. This is my first big surprise - didn't think Battlestar Galactica would be that high. Interesting.
I do agree with that sentiment and if you look at the real guy he’s based on, he wasn’t a suave good looking dude either. Casting Jon Hamm certainly would have been a mistake as well, doesn’t make sense for the character. I just never was sure I loved Buscemi in the part. Don’t think he had the range and depth to really carry a lead in such a dark emotional drama.I actually think Buscemi was playing against type as Nucky. He was charming and driven, but wasn't above getting his hands dirty if required and showing his ugly side to those that crossed him.
I was talking more in general terms in this exercise. To be fair, I don’t think it’s just the small sample size that props up this show. From Wikipedia:
I see I'm the high scorer for Chappelle's Show and I'll wear that distinction proudly. Not the first show of its kind by any means but far and away the freshest and most hilarious sketch comedy I've ever seen. Oh, boy. She really needs to watch the NCIS New Orleans episode about the Plague. The wrtiers couldn't even be bothered to read the Wikipedia article on it. Every single thing is wrong. I spent a bunch of time yelling at the screen.
