The Top 300 Greatest TV Shows of All Time: FBG Consensus: 50 Lists received. 2: Seinfeld 1: Breaking Bad (12 Viewers)

I’m relatively new to South Park, which is why it didn’t hit my top 70. If we do this again a year from now, I have little doubt it will hold a prominent position in my rankings.

I have 22 shows not listed so far. Here are their ranks:

1 - I expect it to be top 5
2 - I expect it to be top 10
5 - I expect it to be top 5
10 - I know is not in the top 300 since it was already referenced as my highest show that won't be listed - Criminal Minds)
11 - Won't be on the List. It's not a great show but it just cracks me up and is very re-watchable
12 - I expect it to be top 5
16 - I am guessing it won't be on the list and am shocked. I wonder if I missed it somewhere
20 - I expect it to be top 10
30 - First of many copycats. At the time it was quite revolutionary but kind of got a bad rap over the years because of all the spinoffs.
34 - Another great re-watchable. My go to show to watch during my lunch hour. Not gonna make the top 17
41 - Just like #11 although I would say it's a better show than #11 technically I enjoyed 11 just more. Neither will be top 17
44 - I expect it to be top 10
50 - Very fitting to the pandemic. I watched it during the pandemic and a lot of what happened I could have seen happening if it got worse. Underrated show.
51 - Just a procedural that I enjoyed. I like this type of show
53 - "Spin off" of a show that was ranked #50 and may have had the funniest scene I have ever seen (in show #50 not my spinoff choice)
54 - Surprised it hasn't been on the list yet. I would be surprised if it made top 17 I supposed it could
56 - Another show that surprised me wasn't listed. Makes me wonder if I missed it being listed. Can't imagine it would be top 17
58 - This was hilarious and it's brother was on the countdown. This was the newer version and had one of the best endings of any show ever tying it to it's predecessor.
61 - One of the similar shows was in the countdown but I liked this one better. It probably wasn't technically better but I just enjoyed it more.
66 - Guilty pleasure show from the 70's. Just had to have it on the list.
68 - Similar to my #51 above it type of show. It was entertaining and is a fun rewatch but I really didn't expect it to make the top 300.
69 - The actor playing the main character has a show in the countdown already and another that should be top 5 (and is my #1 show). This show cracked me up and is a nice mindless show to watch before going to bed. I didn't expect it to make the top 300

I will fill in what shows when the unveiling is over just in case I am wrong and 17 of these fill out the remaining shows...haha

I can tell you at least one of your expectations here is wrong.

If I had to guess it would be #2 ranked show. It should be top 10 but likely will be around now due to age)

ETA: and it wouldn't surprise me if my #1 isn't top 5 (even though that would be blasphemous)

1. ????? - Will be Top 5
2. The Americans - (30)
3. BoJack Horseman - (56)
4. ????? - Top 10, I'm sure, probably Top 5
5. Reservation Dogs - (133)
6. ????? - Maybe Top 10 but definitely on the remaining list
7. Deadwood - (16)
8. Schitt’s Creek - (117)
9. Brooklyn 99 - (83)
10. Halt and Catch Fire (139)

I've watched South Park when it first came out and I enjoy watching some clips on youtube. I'm a little surprised that this group has it this high.
Me too. It’s funny and I really liked it when I I was high school/college but it’s just keep going and going. It being in for soooo long has kind of hurt my opinion of it. Some of it now feels like it’s forcing itself to still be edgy. I don’t know, the last great episode I can remember was the Kanye fish sticks and that was 16 years ago. It just seems like a really silly long period of time for a show like that to go on. There’s not many characters, they don’t really age or grow. It’s just too much and wore out its welcome for me big time.

I would have ranked it higher had it not tailed off so bad the last several years. Maybe even 10 years?

Here's what I had submitted. Which is a list of favorites, as opposed to what I truly believe are the greatest shows of all time.

I would have Justified at number 2 now having watched it, bumping everything else down a spot.

1. Burn Notice (236)
2. That 70s Show (174) - surprised this didn't make the top 100 given demo and nostalgia and how well it held up for someone who was born in the 90s LOL
3. Survivor (32) - 2nd highest competition show behind Jeopardy feels ok
4. (I imagine it's gonna be top 10 but not top 5 based on our crowd)
5. The West Wing (60)
6. The Newsroom (148) - this is criminally underrated here, given some of the other shows people like this one should get a watch from many of you - for example it's right up the alley of a West Wing enjoyer and WW came in at 60
7. (I imagine this is right around 5th)
8. Veep (40)
9. The Punisher (208)
10, The Big Bang Theory (76) - I'm sure this would have been something else if i were also 30 years older

I included it in my list, but it ended up pretty far down in it because I can’t remember the last time that I watched a new episode. Strength of the early seasons was still enough for me to rank it. If it went off the air 10-15 years ago, it would have been a lot higher. That comment goes the same for another animated show that I expect to be listed soon.

Shows like you describe were the hardest for me to rank. I didn't want recency bias to form my list so gave it my best to rank a show I love 30 years ago vs. something I love today.

I'm not listing my top 10, as I had the least chalkiest submission. There is only one of my top 10 left, and I assume it will be top 5 overall, and it's my number 1. The rest of my top 10 had 2 shows not make the top 300, and the rest averaged a ranking of 164. This lesson has proved to me once and for all I don't watch a lot of TV.

When I saw the first season (in real time), I was like, "I wish I could have written this, it's exactly my kind of humor and no one else has done it like this." Those first few seasons were hilarious and pushed the boundaries of comedy like little else before or since. After 5 or 6 years it started to run out of steam and I gave up after the "Oprah's minge" episode.

I'm not going to put a link here even though it is a cartoon. It is pretty racy(and some of the funniest stuff I've ever seen on television).

Lemmiwinks being inserted into Slave and the saga of his travels up to his mouth were absolute gold!

Young Sheldon
Nope. Much older of a show and the one in the list was even older than the one I listed. "Brother" was a bad attempt at a clue as in "my other brother...."
I don't think you really need to avoid naming that show. There's no way it's in the Top 15.

Yeah I think all but Wanted (that I mentioned upthread) and Ice Road Truckers (which is known to not be in the list) that have not revealed from my top 10 will be in the top 15

I know but I figured it let's people guess (if they want to) and I can still hope it makes it.

MASH is one old show I never got into. When I would watch reruns on TV as a kid, the MASH theme song was my cue to turn off the TV and do something else. I wonder if I watched now if I would appreciate it.
Couldn't have said it better myself. That theme song was insta turn the channel for me. So boring for me as a kid I hated it.

It still has some greatness past that. I loved the intro to PC Principal and others after that. Of course I say that because it's in the top 10 for me, but I will also say that it is best for me to do it in shorter increments. I can't binge the show, even if I still find it very funny.
