Dynasty : I have been offered 2014 R4+R5 picks and 2015 R2+R3 picks for Trent Richardson and I am not sure if I should pull the trigger.

Yes, he did suggest trading a TE,but it didn't seem like it was pretty serious since he immediately thereafter mentioned the third or fourth string TE

The difference is that the 1990s was the most difficult decade for RBs to run in judged by YPC. While the past decade or so has been by far the easiest. I posted comments in the article linked below - my view hasn't changed in the slightest.

Will be interesting to see the game this weekend. As "negative" as I was in the other thread, most of my issues were the attempted justification of his 2013 not really being bad. He could improve, but my issues are twofold. One, if he does well in pre-season, he is going to go way early in drafts and I don't trust him. I had Brown at RB2 a lot last year because of injuries, so I saw how bad TRich looked. Two, if he doesn't do well in pre-season, we are likely to see a repeat of 2013 (but more touches since Brown is gone and Ballard is out).

That said, did you watch the game tonight? Up until 8pm EST, Watkins was all-world. He didn't look all world tonight with no receptions and from the plays I saw not getting great separation. Hearing about good practices isn't as meaningful until we actually see it in the game.

 
Sammy Watkins played three series his entire career. TRich flashed production his rookie season then lost something in 2013. Signs of life from him mean a lot more than Watkins. For what its worth I dont place blame on Watkins. Manuel is garbage. But I think they will be fine.

I am talking about pre-season practice hype. Look at the Bradford thread, even though he hit on some nice long pass plays, there was no tackling involved. In a real game against an opponent, the DL will actually try to get to Bradford. Watkins was lighting up the world in camp, but come real game time against a D that was actually trying, he got nothing and it exposed the fact that Manuel in camp isn't game time Manuel. We need to see TRich in the pre-season games when the D isn't not tackling him.

By the way, I still don't think TRich has flashed anything yet. Even his rookie season was just volume. 3.6 ypc and a long of 32 yards on almost 320 touches doesn't say explosive to me. It was a fine rookie year if he got better in 2013. Plenty of examples of good RBs having a less effective 1st year, but not many of them fell apart year 2 and went on to be productive. He has a lot to prove this year, let's see if he steps up or he is who he has been so far.

 
It would be ideal if he just focused on making every touch a quality touch....every down a quality contribution rather than putting pressure on himself to reach some statistical level of production.

Agreed. I believe he said that one of his problems last year was that he was trying to take it to the house on every play instead of just getting whatever yardage was available. Quotes like this one have me concerned that he may not have gotten away from that mindset.

 
We will all be witness to an historic sporting spectacle Thursday night. Never before has so much scrutiny been placed on a single carry. If Trent is stuffed for no gain, his ADP plummets and if he breaks loose, it skyrockets! LOL I can't wait to check this thread in two days.

lol, true, if he looks great people will argue hes back as a top 10 dynasty RB, if he looks like crap, people will say hes completely worthless, worst RB in the league

does he know 'the house' is traditionally the endzone and not the line of scrimmage?

If you watch the video, it's not really like that. A reporter asked him if he has a goal of hitting 1k yards. He said his goal is a lot higher than that, but he was going to keep it to himself.

Agreed. That's why I posted a few times that I have no doubt he won't be on my team. If he looks like crap in pre-season then unless he drops to the dregs, why would you want 2013 TRich on your team and never play him? If he looks good, he is going to jump up to late RB1/early RB2 level (he is already in the RB20-24, i.e. close to mid to late RB2 range). The problem there is I wouldn't want to risk of having the really bad games/being 2013 TRich and I don't think he will get the volume of Cleveland 2012 with no Gordon and minimal Cameron.

He is just such a big risk and he is still in the 5th round ADP range. If he has one big run, he is creeping up in the 4th and one good pre-season game and he is in the 3rd. I think I'll take the second tier WRs over TRich at that point, so again unless he sucks it up in pre-season and drops far, someone is likely taking him too early for a guy who per game wasn't even a RB3 last year.

It looks like the interior of the line isn't doing anyone any favors this year. Good defensive front they are going against, for sure, but that's a young G-C-G combo they have.

 
He was outperformed on the ground by Herron who is clearly the superior back. Herron - 4 carries for 7 yards but he still looked fantastic getting those 7 yards. Trent's 8 yard gain will probably be the longest of the year for him. Hey...this feels good. I think I'm going to join the darkside and hate Trent for now on!

 
give the true believers a couple minutes to line up the excuses -- although, I'd have thought they would've already had a list at hand.

maybe the cable guy came by this week and distracted him, or something.

I'm trying super hard not to overreact to anything preseason related but after a couple of touches I know I'm not going to be touching this guy at his current ADP.
