The Trent Richardson Thread (2 Viewers)

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Trent Richardson viewed the Colts running game as a three-man threat, right up until fellow running back Ahmad Bradshaw was placed on injured reserve this week with a broken left leg.

"I always say, 'A three-headed monster,'" Richardson said. "A lot of people say it's two-headed, but I say three-headed monster."

Allen's injury shouldn't be overlooked for fantasy leaguers considering starting Richardson with Bradshaw (broken leg) done for the year. A critical component of Indy's ground game, Allen is PFF's No. 6 overall run-blocking tight end. T-Rich should see volume against Jacksonville's No. 26 run defense and is a reasonable bet for a goal-line score, but won't suddenly become dynamic, and Indy's run-blocking unit collapsed with Allen on the shelf for all of last year
What? Indy's run blocking unit collapsed last year? Allen played 1 game in 2013. I seem to remember all RBs but Richardson doing very well in 2013 without Allen. Allen being out could definitely hurt Richardson, but Allen being out didn't hurt Brown last year.

Im throwing him in based off of game flow alone.

Indy should be up most of the game...and they are going to give T Rich at least one game to show and prove.

This is it. He'll have goal line carries, catches, and plenty of runs.

Doesnt matter how bad he is...he'll be able to fall into points.

not good...

ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Sunday NFL Countdown that Dan "Boom" Herron is a guy to watch "today and moving forward" in the Colts' backfield.
Herron was a preseson darling, rushing for 112 yards on 22 carries and catching 11 passes for 55 yards and one touchdown. He's a downhill, north-south runner. The Colts see the writing on the wall with Trent Richardson; he doesn't hit the hole hard and sometimes doesn't even see the gaping holes in the running game. Richardson will get the first carries Sunday against the Jaguars, but it may not be long before we see Herron. He's a worthy add for the stretch run.

Wow. Guess it's over.
Wow, even a Herron redzone fumble cant save TRich.

He'll get some chances the rest of the way and score some points...but the bottom line is that the Bradshaw injury appears to have helped TRich's volume by approximately 0.000%.

So a little backstory for those not watching.

On 1st and goal from 8. Herron in. Runs for 1 or 2, but the ball came loose yet again just when he went down. It wasnt close enough to be replayed, but enough of a fumble for the announcers to mention it.

That would have been Herron's 3rd fumble.

So on 2nd down, TRich replaced him, they threw to a TE to the 1.

then TRich scored

And T.Riches backup still outscores him in PPR.....despite T.Rich scoring a TD.
Can't blame him for not being involved in the passing game. Which is stupid because it's probably the thing he'd do best.
Agreed. He can catch passes for sure. I just don't think the coaching staff has much confidence in him anymore. I doubt he is with the team next year.

To be fair to T Rich apparently he had the flu this week ahead of the game. Still didn't touch him on the free agent pile in my league in spite of the FBG ranking.

yeah, we wouldn't want to rush to judgement because he was sick one week

Hey, come on now. You have to be fair. It's not Richardon's fault he plays for the Browns /has to learn a new playbook/plays behind a bad offensive line/happens to play on a team with Ahmad Bradshaw/got the flu this week!

I would bet anything he is gone after this year.

Wow he is bad

Is there any running back on the same team as him the past two years he's not been outplayed by?

Are the Colts really going to go with Ballard/Herron/Brittlefoot next year

No..they will draft Duke Johnson who would be a perfect fit for that offense.

He was dropped in my shallow roster dynasty league (keep 14 players) and I scooped him up. I have a feeling I'm going to really regret hopping on board this train even though it was free....

I have a feeling I'll cut him at roster cut downs this offseason and I think he will be in a lot of other peoples leagues as well. In more traditional dynasty leagues you have to continue to hold, but you know you'd like to cut him.

That TD was like finding money on the street for those who started him.
It's exactly why we started him.
Yup. He has TD potential every week in this offense. I was surprised he wasn't involved at all in the passing game. As others have said it's the one thing he's done reasonably well this season. If he does start catching 2-4 passes per game plus the TD potential he'll be starting RB2 upside square in the face every week regardless of how awful he may look on the field.

This has been the hope for now going on 2 years running. This is why there is so much skepticism about this POS. Because he rarely if ever deliverers what you need. The only thing he is right now is a flex option at best and even that is going to fade as Herron will in all likely-hood out play him. Just like every other back on the roster has since his arrival to Indy.

I started him thinking he'd get 20 touches including 3-4 receptions for 40-50 yards. 10 points minimum in PPR. felt damn lucky to get that TD because he wasn't getting anything in the passing game and Herron was taking more than his share of snaps away. I have Herron too so I can't see another scenario where TRich will see my lineup.

In the final month of last season after Brown had passed him on the depth chart, Richardson scored twice and averaged more than 3 receptions per game. He had double-digit touches in every game. So despite being clearly outplayed by another RB, Richardson was a productive fantasy option in PPR. Even yesterday he was productive thanks to the touchdown.

I don't think anyone is arguing that he's a great RB or looks great or anything like that. But he has generally been a solid RB3 in PPR leagues this season and was again yesterday. If he starts getting consistently involved in the passing game again I think he'll move into RB2 territory given his clear TD potential in this offense. I think people who say he sucks for fantasy are bashing him because it's the fashionable thing to do. The truth is he's been a pretty reliable RB3 in PPR all season long.

In fairness to TRich, while he did in fact play horribly, Herron was named the starter right before the game started so Herron getting the majority of snaps yesterday should not have been surprising. I have both Herron and TRich on one team - started TRich yesterday not realizing he was named the backup and felt like I got away with one when he got the TD....will probably start Herron going forward if I decide to go with a Colts back.

I'm in a TD league and rolling him as my RB2 down the stretch. I wanted to see how it shook out and even with Herron getting carries, Trent is as likely as anyone to get in the endzone.

I know others may not, but I would like to see Trent get the majority of touches and see if he can break out, 20-25 touches, maybe he is a volume guy.

I was kind of in and out on that game, but it sure seemed at the time that Herron was about to be the man, he was looking pretty good, then TR reappeared. Somehow I got the sense it was pretty fortunate that TR got back in the game near the goalline. I would have zero faith that happens again.

I think the most disheartening thing for a TR owner would have to be that Herron got those receptions. I find it really hard to believe that Trent couldn't have handled all that work.

They tried to run some pass plays to TR in the first half, but they got blown up. Luck got knocked down/sacked on 2 of them, and on a 3rd the ball was batted down.

Well about at least 50 pages of this thread was for some time till it finally became crystal clear he is a massive bust. I was one who at one time thought this kid was going to be special. Drafted him #1 overall in my rookie draft 3 years ago, was a solid RB3 for me his rookie year with all his TD's and I thought he would only get better and a be legit RB1. Then the trade....and wow.

POS.

I would not want to count on a guy like this week to week as a flex.....ever. I think you can find far better options at WR for your flex spot than this junk pile.
