Wow, I read just as the game was starting Herron started? So that entire load of points TRich was going to soak up from Bradshaw went to Herron. At this point you can't start this guy getting half the touches, he's barely good enough to start with all the touches. I started Blue over him which turned out to be the wrong move, but I have seen enough of TRich to know this situation isn't getting better. If Boom gets hurt a practice squad guy will split with Trent it seems. Now that bye weeks are over and he barely got double digits with a goal line TD (if he didn't get that it would have been a disaster) I cannot see starting this guy unless you are decimated at RB. Does it get better than JAX at home?

T-Rich was clearly healthy enough to play as evidenced by his 13 touches on 42 snaps, but starter Boom Herron was predictably the more effective option -- turning his 17 touches and 33 snaps into 96 total yards. No matter who starts going forward, this backfield remains an even timeshare. We'd rather own Herron as simply the better player.

Oh I think Richardson's terrible. But Boom getting more chances this past week could partially have been due to Richardson getting sick during the week

There are a lot of players who were sick this week (Julio Jones, Steven Jackson) or had come down with the flu in the past (Walter Payton ) and played very well come Sunday. It's a poor excuse unless you would lead me to believe that his immune system is as ####ty as his vision. IMO, IND, much like the rest of us, has seen enough. They're likely okay with continuing to use him in a complimentary role but I highly doubt they plan on ever handing this backfield over to him in the future. Herron looked raw and was fumbling like a mad man but they still kept him in there because he was actually effective on his touches.

Arguably, they kept Herron in because the game was out of reach for Jacksonville, so no point in putting in a supposedly less-than-100% Richardson.

Herron has been on the roster for a while. He did not get any touches until Bradshaw went down. I don't think he showed well on Sunday and certainly not well enough to convince any coach to change his mind dramatically. So I find it unlikely Herron has supplanted Richardson after this week. We'll know more when there are no 'sickness' excuses and the Colts are in a more contested game.

Meanwhile, whatever those are, the coaching staff continues to see certain qualities in Richardson that compensate for his lack of vision and massive hesitation at the line. I'd love to know what those qualities are. Then again - what do I know about RB evolution? Ingram was considered dead-in-the-water for years and then the light came on last season. So maybe all Alabama prospects need to warm a bench for a few years and Lacy just got lucky somehow.

Coach Chuck Pagano would only say that Herron "may" start again this week against the Redskins because he practiced so well leading up to Week 12, but most Colts beat writers get the impression it'll be Herron getting the nod over Richardson again. This comes two days after Richardson said he didn't start last week because he was recovering from the flu.

Ex TRich supporter here.

When I was on the TRich side of the fence, I thought guys like Larry had nothing better to do than troll around here bashing a solid prospect who just needed more time to learn the offense and recover from being traded. I thought Larry was crazy to give up on such a talented runner who just needed some time to figure things out. Now I realize I was the one behind the asylum glass, not Larry. I cant believe there are still guys in here trying to defend TRich. The guy is one of the biggest busts in recent history. Its almost pathetic to see guys making excuses on a weekly basis. I should know, used to be one of them.

Here is some advice.

Rid yourself of him so you can see clearly.

I love coming back to this thread. I honestly don't know if I have ever seen a RB bust as big as Richardson has. He continues to be crappy even though he was given chance, after chance, after chance with Indy. They finally have had enough and really he lost his job to Bradshaw and now Herron. If Herron was to get hurt, I am certain whoever they put in there would look better than him. He just is not a NFL rb. I don't even think he is a good back up.

I was too. Took his ### 1st overall three years ago. Traded him this year in a package for Lacy. Was one of the happiest days of my fantasy life getting that guy off my roster.

Incredible fall. Just incredible. He was a dominant beast at Bama. Seriously good.

Matter of time before he is phased out completely. They are rumored to be looking at Ray Rice. So you know they are desperate for another back besides Boom Herron. Who BTW has already had a far bigger impact in just two games than T.Rich.

He reached a new low today in a game when his team scores 49 freaking points. He is nowhere to be found.

7 carries, zero yards. He's now in a photo finish with Zack Crockett for the 2nd-worst career YPR from a guy with 500+ career carries in the Super Bowl era.

I remember being a Phillies ticket-holder in the mid-'80s and watching an otherwise decent team trot out Steve Jeltz at shortstop game ... after game ... after game. For FOUR YEARS he was their everyday shortstop, despite possessing a .210 career average, little speed, and zero power (literally - he went 4+ years without a single HR). I remember the collective groans that went up at the Vet every time his name was announced in the starting lineup.

So look on the bright side, Colts fans: you almost certainly won't have to suffer as long as we did.

Update: Thanks to yesterday's eight-for-12-yards statline, T-Rich has soared into the #2 spot on this list by a full two-hundredths of a yard over (or, rather, under) Crockett.

Meanwhile, the 6th-round draftee with 14 career NFL carries before this season, running behind the exact same blockers and scheme, turns his eight carries into 88 yards and a TD.

Really, you can't make this stuff up.

I thought he would at least get some production based off volume. He isnt getting that so he is still worthless. He isnt really roster worthy in any format.

I think Richardson is the new Leshoure. He will get some try-outs next year and maybe find a place to play as a back up RB. He is a decent blocker and has first round pedigree but there is a chance he ends up looking for work all of next year as he is not a special teamer and he offers no upside or COP to on offense. He has really fallen that fast and hard.

He was a Top 20 RB in PPR before he got hurt. I'm stunned he hasn't caught a single pass in the last two games. Thought for sure he'd catch 2-3 a game and at least be a viable option in PPR like he was last season and earlier this year. But the catches are gone and if those go away there's nothing to give him any value.
