What's interesting to me is the fact that it was Reagan's own staff, not Democrats and the media, that grew concerned about the President's mental state.

Sucks jon_mx was hammered. I didn't really like his political posts because I thought he always employed/incorporated a martyr complex into his arguments but I know he's a smart guy with valuable opinions and if it were my forum, rules would be much more relaxed so people could be more real to each other. He'd definitely not get banned on a Dedfin forum. I'd certainly not be a good moderator here; I assume most of us wouldn't for the same reasons. I get in trouble too, for employing the same language other people use here regularly on any side of an issue. A close friend of mine was permabanned too, for a relatively innocuous post. Other progressives catch a temp hammer from time to time as well. I want to be sure to pass on that (I assume) squistion may report people on the regular, but there are conservatives that do it just as regularly if not more so. I've decided to not post in the PSF because I just don't have the discipline to not use charged language. For a long time, I thought people would just most let things go (obvious exceptions like trash talking wives/family etc) but the report button war started at some point and I don't think it'll stop. I just want everyone to be sure that abusing the report button is a weapon employed by all sides here. I wish this genie could be put back in the bottle, but I don't know how this can happen without mods/admins stepping in with new policies. In my opinion, they have more responsibility to regulate the report button as we the posters do and Joe's "If you have a problem just report it, we count on you" refrain is merely white noise. It's our fault we don't get along, but it's their fault we get in trouble. You are welcome to retort, point out any inconsistencies or find some of my posts that show my bad side, which will be easy. It's all good. I've moved on with the fighting so the floor is all yours and anyone else's. No shtick/no sarcasm when I say, no hard feelings to any of you guys.

If someone can't grasp that an outgoing President has any number of (very legal) means to make a bunch of millions, I would suggest it's hardly worth trying to argue with them.
Tired of the anti-occums razor approach of ignoring blatantly obvious objective reality to box everything into a pre conceived agenda.
And again, I have been quite critical of Obamas presidency in many ways (and voted G Johnson in Obamas second run) but I truly think if you don't believe he's a decent and pretty honest guy, your are lying to yourself or fitting the facts into your preconceived narrative.

So I read a little bit of Free Republic this morning (I like to read them once in a while because IMO they’re very representative of the Republican base.) Keep in mind that less than a month ago, these same people were taking everything Steve Bannon said as Gospel- how Roy Moore and other like minded candidates were going to blow up McConnell, etc. And the good people at FR couldn’t wait for that to happen. Bannon was their intellectual leader, while Trump was more of a spiritual leader.
As expected, by this morning they have completely thrown Bannon under the bus. He is now a closet member of the Deep State. He is a leftist, a liberal, (and one guy referred to him as part of the Rothschild Globalist conspiracy).
