Will Djokovic be allowed entry in the future?  Lying on immigration forms could mean a ban on entry for a number of years.
Once deported its a 3 year ban but the PM said that its on a case by case basis ie Humanitarian or Public interest reasons and you can get back in. He gets vaccinated, no issue. Covid goes away, no issue. Covid still around in 2023 and he is still unvaccinated? It will be easy to not even let him even apply for a visa.

As an aside the French and the US open also require double vacc for immigration. Will be interesting to see their exemption process regarding tennis players.

Is that a new policy with regard to illegal immigration in the US?

For context Western Australia has had 1400 covid cases..total... in 2 years. They are currently at about 10 a day trying to hold omicron at bay. They will ultimately fail. They are just trying to get as many boosters into arms as possible, especially in aged care residents. The large majority of the Omicron deaths on the east coast have been in aged care facilities.

Western Australia has had the strictest rules, in a country which has applied strict rules. The rest of the country is pretty much open now. Allowing tourists, travellers etc. Western Australia also has the most popular premier in Australia with a 70% approval rating. The opposition were decimated at the recent election.

The sick kid situation is horrific and hopefully common sense will prevail, but Mark McGowan hasn’t exactly been flexible in his approach to date.

Missed this tidbit.

We're All Responsible For Our Own Health': Australian PM Morrison Says Australians Gave Consent to Mass Vaccination

"Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison recently said that Australians are “all responsible for our own health” when asked a question about adverse vaccine reactions during a press conference. After noting that some Australians have died from adverse reactions, a reporter asked Morrison if he believed those people had been properly informed of potential side effects. Morrison responded by defending Australia’s max vaccination program, saying that Australians took the vaccine under their own free will. Morrison’s comments are at odds with actions Australian regional governments have taken, however, as well as his own past statements."

Australia had a federal election yesterday.

Ruling conservative party (The Liberal lol National Party) soundly defeated.

The moderate left wing party, Labor, will form government. Its unsure yet as to whether its minority or majority just yet. Anthony Albanese will become Australia’s 31st Prime Minister. He was raised by a single mother on the disability pension.

Key takeaways

* 15 Independents or Greens, at least, will serve in the House of Representatives. Half are “Teal” Independents who won very conservative seats, but the people in these seats, their number one issue was Climate Change action, which the LNP opposed any real action on. Greens are likely to hold 4/5 seats. Climate change action was their number one issue.

*15 seats of the 150 are still in doubt. Australia has Two party preferred voting. How this works. In your seat if you vote eg

1 - George Harrison

2 - Paul McCartney

3 - Ringo Starr

4 - John Lennon

whichever candidate gets the least first votes is eliminated eg

John Lennon 32%

Paul McCartney 28%

Ringo Starr 27%

George Harrison 13%

Harrison is eliminated. They grab all the Harrison #1 ballots and go to the second preference eg

John Lennon 38%

Ringo Starr 33%

Paul McCartney 29%

McCartney is eliminated. We go down to the third choice on the Harrison ballot

John Lennon 48%

Ringo Starr 52%

Mostly it is a choice between the LNP and Labor, but in this election its more complicated with the rise of Independents and Greens.

* The states that won the election for Labor were Western Australia and Victoria. The two states with the strictest borders and quarantine rules during Covid. These two states had popular Labor Premiers who fought tirelessly with the Federal Government who abdicated most of their responsibilities. The two Premiers, Mark McGowan and Dan Andrews successfully created a community atmosphere ie we are all in it together.

* The outgoing Prime Minister Scott Morrison was a bulldozing right winger who became wildly unpopular for his management of several crises eg Bush Fires, Aged Care, Covid, Vaccines, RAT tests, his accused Sexism and treatment of women, Climate Change etc. the most effective ad campaign against Morrison was him saying “That’s Not My Job” in several moments of crisis.

*The federal Treasurer Josh Freydenburg was the highest profile victim of the teal wave, losing his seat.

Sounds like a shift left for Oz.

I know that gun restrictions had decreased in recent years after the landmark rules imposed in the late 90s? Early 2000s?

Do you think those will be strengthened or do the Aussies care about other things and think the current restrictions are sufficient?

Its more a shift the centre left. Morrisons government was right wing. With the decimation of the moderate faction of the right wing, the LNP has two choices, veer even further right, say no to everything Labor does, be negative and disruptive and forego any chance of the centre voters they just lost. If they elect as its leader the despised Peter Dutton, this will happen. Or they can attempt to win back all the voters they lost to the teal independents. Almost all were educated women in affluent suburbs. The Teal independent candidates are primarily smart educated women. Less than 20% of the LNP candidates were women, most not educated. Labor has a quota of 50% women candidates.

As for guns, there was a list of 15 top issues for the elections. Guns werent on them. Gun ownership is high, where it needs to be. Rural areas, security etc. You cannot open carry. Gun massacres are non existent. Shootings are mainly in the criminal element or rural domestic incidents. You cannot claim home security as a reason for gun ownership. That what locks are for.
