"The Voice" , new singing talent search show (2 Viewers)

Last night was complete BS. The final vote tally had to be more for the coach than the performer.
Totally disagree, Tessanne was the best of the bunch. The little girl was close but not quite as good.
Agree to diagree then, because I didn't think anyone came close to that girl all season.
I thought that the two female finishers on this season of The Voice were two of the very best singers in the history of these TV singing shows. Ultimately, I think they got the winner right with Tessanne, but I wouldn't have argued if they picked Jacquie.
If I had to put money on one contestant today to win this season, I would put my money on Tessanne Chin.
And great duets last night. Celine was, as she almost always is, awesome.

The rankings were as I expected. WIll made it much further than I expected, though.

I am a big Tessanne fan. Was cool to see her emotion over getting to sing with Celine Dion. Nice that seh will get to work with Teder, too.\

Looking forward to getting Usher and Shakira back next season!

I thought the biggest difference was that Tessanne had more depth and complexity in her performances whereas Jacquie was all about the big notes. She didn't do as well with softer moments in songs, she basically just blasted away. I think Jacquie is going to be so much better as she gains more experience. I think Tessanne pulled away later in the season and was the clear winner over the last couple weeks.

They were both great. I think Tessanne was just a notch higher in perfection.

You've made it known before that you prefer Usher and Shakira, but I do not. I think Shakira is fine to look at, but I think Christina is a better coach, and gives better critiques. Ceelo is entertaining, whereas I think Usher just likes to sit there and look cool. I guess to each their own.

I thought Jacquie (sp?) was going to win, but Tessane was a very close second. Both had great performances on Monday, but I think the duet song selection by Adam wasn't that great. On the other hand, Christina should probably make an attempt to not upstage her own artist in her duet.

Will was definitely out-matched in the final and probably shouldn't have been there. I wasn't really much a fan of the tortured artist/rich kid schtick. Doesn't really matter much as 1 and 2 would have remained the same.

This.

Not only upstaged her during the singing, but the start of the duet had Christina all by her lonesome at the top of the stairs with the spotlight on her. LOL.

Well, it would be nice to see them not be so literal in their casting substitutions, i.e. black guy for black guy and blonde woman for blonde woman.

Looking forward to Season Six getting underway next week.

Don't you see where they sit? Shakira replaces Cee Lo and Usher replaces Christina. C'mon, pay attention.

I am generally impressed with the judges' knowledge of a broad range of music, but is it possible neither Levine or Usher ever heard Royals? They're going to be pretty disappointed with Sam's "originality" when they hear the original. Usher even made the comment that she sounded like an English singer. When she was singing, I was thinking she would get criticized for copying style so closely.

Other than that, I think the season is of to a strong start.

I seriously doubt the bolded

Lorde is from New Zealand.

The song was performed non-competitively on the show last season by, I believe, Tessanne and Caroline. So yes, Levine has heard it before. I'm reasonably certain that Usher has as well.

has any winners of this show recorded a song? became anything?

every time I stumble across the show the singers seem to be horrible and it's about the personalities than it is the singing talent.

I've heard a few Casside Pope songs on the radio

The Swon Brothers have a song out on country radio right now. Danielle Bradbury has a couple out as well (and I believe she toured with Paisley last year).

Cassadee Pope toured with Rascal Flatts and The Band Perry last year, has had several songs on the radio and had a couple top 20 videos on CMT (I think).

Yeah safe to say that Usher has heard a ubiquitous song that was nominated for record of the year and won song of the year at the Grammys...not to mention that she performed the song at the show.

Thoughts on a second group of battle rounds? I like the one round, but two sets of duets initially seems like overkill. WIll see, I guess.

Also, I doubt this is predictive, but "source" of the eight steals:

Usher 4

Adam 2

Shakira 2

Blake 0

More useless trivia: every coach took both of their steals from the same team.

2 versus 1 seems unfair. I don't think they should let duets on that show.

When they start talking about harmonizing, that's something an individual can't do.

One of the solos beat a duet the other night. I can't remember all their names but the duet was the 2 female friends, Alaska and something. They lost to another female.

So how does this next round work? H2H battles across teams it looks like. But who is the judge? And how do steals work in this format?

I get that but it's still unfair IMO. AND ITS UNFAIR FOR BOTH SIDES. The judges place higher expectations on the duets and if they deliver then the solo artist gets beat. Unfair.

I thought Stefani was good on Idol. Time for another rant from me, though, on their subbing another blonde white girl for blonde white girl and black guy for black guy (assuming Pharrell takes the Ceelo/Usher slot.)

Christina is the only one who had naturally dirty blonde hair growing up, although she bleaches it practically white. Stefani and Shakira were brunettes growing up. I guess they like blonde better. It's probably just a coincidence that all the pop female coaches are bleach blondes. It isn't surprising that the r&b/soul/hip hop genre type coaches are black.

Impressive knowledge on natural blondes. :)

Does anyone know if it is all audience voiting now or if top from each team goes through and the coach picks from remaining two?

My wife's sister is a hair stylist, and I guess I pay more attention to their chatter than I think. :bag:

The audience starts voting now that we are down to the top 12.
