"The Voice" , new singing talent search show (1 Viewer)

I think it will be close between Bev and Frenchie, but I think Frenchie edges her out.

Casey really impressed me tonight, but not enough to beat out Javier.

Agree that Dia "performed" better and will likely move on, but I like Xenia's voice better.

Couldn't disagree more about Nakia. Vicci absolutely destroyed him imo. She could beat Javier.

I havent watched the whole show yet but it annoys me to no end that they have those 2 minute clips before the performer sings. Why do I need to hear them singing the song that they will be singing in a minute. It loses something for me.

Had I not seen Dia singing Losing my Religion before the performance, I think I would have liked it even more. And I thought it was a very good performance.

Personally, I think Adam picked Casey because he didnt want Jeff going up against Javier. I think he picked his horse and didnt want anything to get in the way of that. Because IMO, Casey is not good

I like Javier and Frenchie in general, but did not care for either of them last night.

Bev was the best and should easily beat Frenchie.

Jeff would have been a better choice than Casey. Going off just last night I would take Casey over Javier, but overall Javier is better.

I agree Xenia is boring to watch but her voice is fantastic. Dia does absolutely nothing for me. Xenia's voice should carry her to the final (though it probably won't).

Nakia and Vicci were neck and neck as the best after Bev last night. Tough call. Nakia sang a little better, Vicci's good singing was outshined by her great performance.

Who I would pick:

Bev

Javier

Xenia

Nakia

Who I think it will be:

Bev

Javier

Dia

Vicci

Both Javier and Dia were in the top 15 in iTunes sales for their performances last night. They're definitely going through to the finals and I say they're the favorites to win the whole thing. For Christina's team, I think Beverly crushed Frenchie last night. Very poor song choice for Frenchie. Was awkward at times. For Cee Lo's team, man that's a close race. Overall, I've like Vicci a lil better than Nakia. But, I thought Nakia performed better last night. Vicci's performance became waaaay too manic for me when she was running around the stage. So, it's a toss up between them, in my opinion.

All the winners are who I thought would win and was rooting for, but I was surprised how close the audience vote was between Dia/Xenia and Beverly/Frenchie.

Because of Obama my DVR cut off just before the Dia vote. Who won both those. I assume Dia and Beverly

I knew about this show, nothing was on a few saturdays ago afternoon wise, I was gettin slammed, and this was the best thing on TV. Now Im hooked.

IMO, the 3 best of the show are Javier, Dia, and Nicci. Im amazed Frenchie made it this far, as I wouldve picked her to lose from the first round, I dont see the intrigue. That said, I hate the format of the show. Going back to Frenchie vs. Bev, or earlier, Christina's team just wasnt as strong. I dont think either deserved to make it this far. I guess if they do the voting/elimination otherwise, a star gets put out to pasture, but her team was weak, and better singers got knocked out earlier due to format. Thats probably my biggest complaint.

Also funny how maroon5 dude was the only judge to not go 50/50 and then tell the girl "its not you, its me"

The final 4 are all solid, especially those 3, but the format/voting is still a bit awkward.

And Viccis performance was ####### awesome the other night. Just watched it
Yeah, she definitely deserved it. When I woke up today half drunk, her performance was the one 1 remembered. The previous week's songs, Javier's "Angel" and Dia's "Heartless" covers I think almost single-handedly get them to the finals, and in all honesty, deservedly so. They both crushed those songs, especially Dia. That cover blows my mind.

Just found a bet on Sportsbook for 1:2 action on Javier and took it. Now it's not Horace money but I still think it's pretty good odds.

You assume correctly.

Man. This show is so good and I usually hate these shows. I think the angle of having "coaches" instead of "judges" is what sets it apart. Seeing these celebs get all attached to their 'pupils', and genuinely invested... just kind of cool.

That said, I'm sure it's just some first season magic that will start to fade as more seasons pile up.

I was surprised at how close Dia and Xenia were as well. Dia was just killing it on the iTunes charts. Hit the top 5. That said, I guess Xenia did make the top 20.

I didn't see the numbers for Xenia/Dia. Does anyone remember?Everyone won who the audience picked before they performed in the semifinals. None were passed by the person the judge selected. Not sure why they even have the judges vote in this round. Most won;t take a stand and strategically, letting audience pick by going 50/50 is the move if they want to win.

It was 106-94 in Dia's favor. So, the public voted 56-44.

I liked the idea of the format, but the fact that there's no inter-team competition has been a big disappointment. The whole "team" concept was a huge fakeout, because the only competition so far has been from within each team. "We're all one big family. A family that wants all the other members to fail miserably!"

:goodposting:I think I said this last night, but when you had a couple times to see/hear some of the people who got picked, some teams sounded considerably stronger, and they never had a chance. Xtina probably has the best voice of the bunch of coaches, but her team sucked. A lot of people got hosed early because of the format.

I basically listen to no popular music, but this Javier cat is talented. He's got a good voice, but that song he wrote had solid lyrics as well

I'm still watching but Beverly absolutely killed it.

Question: are these original songs by the artists or are they songs that were written for them for the show. My wife says that they did not write the songs themselves.

I think that is awful. If you want them to do original stuff, let them pick their own stuff.

I remember Tobys song from Rock Star like 6 years ago. Sung it to my wife who said I was crazy. Played it for her on YouTube. Beverly had that same feel. I will remember that. I can't remember one word by any of the other originals.

At the start of the show, I thought they would be doing their own songs, i.e. songs they wrote themselves. But, I think they all did 'original' songs written by other people. The songs have never been recorded or performed before, so they are 'original', but they're not the artist's own songs.Going into tonight, I've liked Dia most of all. But, I think I like her voice better doing interesting cover songs of songs I already know better than doing original songs. I like Javier's song tonight better than any of the other songs he's done up to this point. But, I think Beverly kills it overall. Too bad for Vicci, because that duet blew away everything, including the solo she performed.

Javier

Dia

Vicci

Beverly

My wife was upstairs on the computer when the Beverly song was on and insisted that I turn it off, it sounded that bad. It really was just a bunch of yelling. Not sure where the 'killed it' comments are coming from, unless one is referring to their eardrums.

I thought all the original songs were pretty bad - some were just worse than others.

But I wouldn't be upset with whoever wins this thing. I think they really got the right top 4. Javier's got the best singing voice. Dia's the most unique. Vicci is the most spirited. And Bev is the best performer, she's just a natural on stage.

Which is probably why my wife, who was only listening, didn't enjoy the performance. I was watching and was entertained. Once my wife mentioned it, I just focused on the vocals, it they really weren't that good. I won't be upset with any of these winners either. They all seem likable enough.

I agree with you both. The right 4 are in the final and any of them winning is perfectly ok.

I also would have been ok with Xenia, as her voice is amazing. Her stage presence is non-existent, however.

I was pretty disappointed by how bad the "original" songs were.

Dia or Javier, i think i called that a few weeks ago. This show is ok but way waaay waay too predictable.

Also why so short? they have a #1 hit show in the summer, they could have easily stretched it out another 5 or 6 weeks. I guess the coaches were all busy so they couldnt commit more time

My "original song" perfomance rankings:

Javier

Dia

Vicci

Beverly

My Duet performance rankings:

Vicci/Cee-Lo

Javier/Adam

Beverly/Christina

Dia/Blake

It kind of annoys me how Vicci nods her head up and down, and Beverly shakes her head left and right to manufacture their vibrato. It just looks bad and amateurish.

I thought last night's show was very entertaining. Some great performances by all of the final 4 contestants. My top 2 original songs were Javier and Dia's. My top 2 duets were Vicci/Cee Lo and Javier/Adam. It's going to be interesting to see who wins this. I think it will come down to Javier and Dia, but there could be some intrigue yet. Those iTunes results weren't as big of an indicator as I thought they'd be last week. Dia blew Xenia away on iTunes, but the final voting tally ended up really close.

CeeLo is awesome!

I love the creativity The Voice allows the performers and judges, which is why this show has succeeded despite being "another singing competition".

Not sure who is going to win, but I actually find Javier the least interesting of the 4. He has the best voice, but the reason he hasn't made it before is because he is boring as hell. The duets showed that Dia, Bev, and Vicki can hold their own on stage next to their coaches, but Javier was just terrible next to Adam and it's not like Adam is a great performer.

I wouldn't mind if anyone of the women won, but just based on last night I think Bev should take it. Not many people can sing a duet next to Christina and not sound like crap. Bev, not only avoided sounding like crap, but Xtina and her just killed "Beautiful", IMO.

Sad that NBC couldn't let this stretch out longer. I could take another 3 weeks picking off the final 4 one by one.
