Things I hate Part 2: Shopkins (1 Viewer)

So a few years back I posted how much I hate the Elf on the Shelf.

My new target is now Shopkins. Does anyone else have kids who are obsessed with these

It is all my daughter asked for for her birthday two weeks ago. So she got over 200 of them. But here is the best part, that is no where near all of them. There are rare ones and super ultra rare ones. There are ones that come in something called a blind bag where you cant see what you are getting (like baseball cards)

Its so bad that my son is now into them. And the look my wife gave me when I even suggested it was a girls toy was one where I quickly retreated or else I may not have sex again until 2016. (I love my wife and she is great, but you know that look right)

So, apparently season 3 is now out. But you cant find them. People are camping out at the stores when the open to run in and buy them.

What is going on here. Why do my kids always like the stupidest hardest to find stuff

If your kids do not know about these, keep them far far away. Its like kiddie crack in my house. Stay strong fellas

 
Until this very moment when I read this thread title I had never even heard the term shopkins. Good for me based on the posts.

 
:lol: My 4 yr old daughter is obsessed. They don't serve any purpose and you can't really play with them but she could sit for hours just going over her stash against the directory.
 
They are really annoying but I suppose my daughter could be into worse stuff. It's similar to baseball cards back in the day in that you can't see most of what's in the packs when you buy them, so she ends up getting a bunch of duplicates.

My daughter is not only addicted to them, but there's also a whole cottage industry of YouTube channels with people who make videos opening Shopkins blind bags and other stuff. She tries to watch all of those too. Mind-numbing

 
7yo son (and by proxy, 3yo daughter) and every kid in his 2nd grade class is obsessed with them. I know, once summer hits and they don't have anybody to trade with so they can see just how useless these things are... they're going to get put in a box up on the shelf and forgotten.

they might be the worst thing he's gotten into. and that includes heroin.

the youtube vids of people opening toys is mind bottling. that my kids watch them, even worse.

 
My niece loves these things. I don't get them, but at the same time, I don't think they were meant for me. She will watch unboxing videos of these things for hours.

Oh, dont get me started on the videos. My daughter has now started filming her own. And while I applaud her tech savvy ability to do that, she is helping spur the shopkins industry

 
Never heard of them either. Googled Shopkins - these look horrible.

my 12 yo watches youtube videos of people playing video games. Games we don't have and will never buy.

:lmao: mine is dying to do her own too. I thought she was nuts but then you read how much that StampyCat guy might be making off his Minecraft videos and it's like sure go for it.

Yes my little girl is way into all these opening videos. Shopkins, surprise eggs, play doh. So funny to hear others are dealing with the same weird ####.

Those inventory lists on the store web sites are not very accurate. The employees LOLed at me when I asked them for shopkins and said the web site showed they had 10 season 3 packs in stock

And I hope the Hobby Kids contract a non-life threatening venereal disease at some point in their lives.

 
My 6 year old daughter is into them now. Barely has any, but literally watches YouTube videos of them and all. It's scary...

Ok just Googled them. They look like girl versions of trash Pack figures and my son likes those. i realize kids like small collectibles. i did when I was geowing up and my son does now.

 
They look like junk you get out of a bubble gum machine at the grocery store. Our local target only carries like 4 at a time and unless you get there the second they open, they're gone.

Last Christmas I spent >$600 on Calico Critters, which are these nice quality and very fairly well made/detailed figures, houses, cars, grocery store and tree houses with a pool and she was disappointed she only got 1 pack of shopkins.

 
kids should be in to cool stuff like hemis and which torque wrench gets the job done take that to the bank brohans

 
Now I feel a little bad because I had those little M.U.S.C.L.E guys also

But in all fairness, I dont remember them having secret rare ones and blind packs to keep my parents buying more

Also, Pickles, they dont sell squinkies anymore. People were probably choking on them

 
This might sound really creepy, and it is, but maybe someone on here wants do like a big swap. Like a 25 for 25 swap. The turnover on these is fun and just flat trading out a huge batch would be fun, this worked with beer right?
