I am willing to acknowledge other experiences, which I noted with their popularity here in L.A. But the bottom line is, despite being a darling of the indie alt music college crowd, their US fan base was not that big and while people can post their personal anecdotes about how everybody they knew in college loved them, that was simply not reflected in any sales figure of that time.

The first time I heard them was on 120 Minutes with "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" Great song. Great lyrics. I never pursued it further, though, for some reason. Probably because Morrissey was too good looking for my self-esteem.

so many tunes to take from him/them. I love Trust, and was tempted with my favorite- Strict Time. Then started leaning to What's So Funny about Peace Love and Understanding... but Alison just slays me as a perfect song and perfect encapsulation of EC. every time.

By the way, never got to really comment on your comments. Vampire Weekend is heavily influenced by Paul Simon, especially albums like Graceland, or his more "world music" endeavors. That was actually a knock on the band coming out of Columbia University. That they were preppy but were appropriating black music, much like Simon. In the end, they got a hall pass because they were so darn good, but that criticism was there.

As far as Daft Punk goes, I can see where you'd want to get drunk and do irresponsible things. Pretty grimy.

As a 40ish year old man, I obviously don't connect with any of Swift's early albums but I was blown away by 1989 which I consider her best album.  As a result, I would go with "Blank Space" as her best.
