THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG! - Music Draft - Saturday Night's Alright for iFighting (3 Viewers)

Round 12.22

Naughty By Nature - Feel Me Flow

One of their last singles as a group, and one that is a bumper to so much television you probably don't realize it. "Feel Me Flow" is not "O.P.P" or "Hip Hop Hooray," but it's a darn fine effort and will slot in nicely right after "Step" in my mix.

Oh that’s a great pick
Thanks, man, something about "Step" segued into that in my head. I hope it works in real life. It was supposed to be my second round pick, but I felt that that was too early to be busting it out, I guess.

12.24 - Sade - By Your Side

While (whilst) it's true that I always draft Sade, let the record show that I always wait until the back half of the draft to pick her. I figure spending a late rounder on her is a small price to pay to save my queen from the ignominy of going undrafted.

it's tough to pass on "Your Love Is King" because it was the first dance at our wedding. But the acoustic guitar in "By Your Side" fits my mix better and its perspective on love as empathy is at least as important as the expression of love as desire from the earlier song.

That's a really nice thought and way to put it. It helps that it rings true, too.

So, it is my second pick, huh? Who do I pick to follow The Eagles?

How about Bodeans? Great band that recently blew apart due to some nasty allegations between the two main members of the band.

They might be best known for having their song "Closer To Free" used as the theme song for the TV show "Party of Five". But, don't sell them short due to that factoid. Call their music roots rock, heartland rock, whatever. It's damn good music.

Lots of great songs to choose from. Today, my pick is "When The Love Is Goob (I Mean Good)"

12.27 Thievery Corporation - Sweet Tides

This may be Triphop's most productive band. Going strong since 96. Playing The Wiltern on the 17th, I'm tempted to go. My favorite albums are two incorporating Jamaican music (2017&18), The Temple of I and I and Treasures from the Temple. I know some of you like reggae/dance hall. Fuse them with some hip hop and trip hop and you have dreamy alternative island vibes. But my pick is the standout in the catalog for me, and works nicely with my playlist. It's a chill out.

nice! she was on my list to possibly draft at some point.

I love your song choice, but it also brings me a little sadness. many years ago after that album first came out, I was talking to a coworker who also liked Sade. she said that song always made her happy because when she put it on, her birds would start singing because the opening sounds a little like birds, I guess.

unfortunately, a couple years later, she was killed in a car accident. so whenever I hear that song now, it still reminds me of her.

Glad to see their name, by the way.  I loved the song "Good Things" back in the day, but then they fell off my radar.

You mean to tell me that every time I drove by the Palamino Valley wild horse/burro rescue on my to fish Pyramid Lake, I coulda stopped in for free horse ####?  Dang!

Now, giving horse #### as a Christmas gift?  And the person wants it?......I'm jealous.....I want that story to tell.....haha
I don't know if that rescue does what the one here does, but here they just scoop it with tractors and dump on the adjacent acreage in the desert. Maybe 10 acres. They've been doing it since the 70s. It's an incredible pile few locals know they can access with a little stealth (or not for small amounts). I've filled the back of my truck many times. My neighborhood is built on hard pan caliche. The soil on my property is rich and loose.

Funny story. My all-time favorite neighbor saw me doing this and decided to do it himself. I never told him the top layer is too young, full of seed, not fully composted. You gotta dig down some to get to the old stuff. So he mixed it with top soil and planted grass in his front yard one spring. The baby grass came up first, but before it was ready for it's first cut... alphalpha took over everything. That's what they feed the animals. I told him to go rescue donkey or two.

Great stuff. As the one of the other regular Sade drafter, I figured she would end up with you. She's very close to the vibe I am going for but just a touch too produced for my playlist. I don't think I will having anything with an 80s sound.

There's a band in heavy rotation here and on my long list but they don't work for what I'm doing. Perfect for what you're doing. I'm still tempted to go there with every pick. I almost dm-ed you and to say please snipe them. I suspect you will eventually.

I hope I do. I have about 10-15 more artists that I am looking at and it's just a matter of what makes it and how I end up feeling at the moment my picks come up.

Love everything on Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams

Greatest band to come out of Waukesha

It was all a dream. . .

12.32 - Notorious BIG - Juicy

Not his hardest song lyrically but my favorite due to it being such a great biography.

We used to fuss when the landlord dissed us
No heat, wonder why Christmas missed us
Birthdays was the worst days
Now we sip Champagne when we thirsty

Can I shoot someone my next pick? Can’t imagine Dr Z will be taking it and I have to run out and coach a bunch of 1st grade girls some basketball.

Nice pick. I'd definitely go "Mo' Money, Mo' Problems" here. That track still sounds good, even today. It slaps, as the kids (and ditkaburgers) would say. I used to write my own lines to it because it's got such a good beat and hook to it.

I agree. Amazing debut album. I was with them until '93s Go Slow Down and then they started to lose me.

Probably the only band to come out of the birthplace of Les Paul (I just found that out).

What was the official decision on handling the next few days given the holiday?

Chaos Commish, whose name alone should mean he is the perfect person to run this particular draft, has said we'll do one-pick-per-day from Thursday-Sunday, then go back to a clock on Monday.

Hypnotize for me but Juicy obvi a classic.

escargot my car go 160 swiftly
Juicy is the clear choice to me but Notorious Thugs is his best verse

We just sitting here tryna win, try not to sin
High off weed and lots of gin
So much smoke need oxygen, steadily counting them Benjamins
