THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG! - Music Draft - Saturday Night's Alright for iFighting (10 Viewers)

13.24 Kurt VileFreak Train

My sniper senses are tingling on Kurt so I’m going to pick him now.  Lots of good songs to choose from but this is my favorite. Nice, constant beat that I enjoy running to and I love to shout out the seemingly random “####” with Kurt.

Time to kick this draft in the teeth!

Pantera Cemetery Gates

Cowboys from Hell, and Vulgar Display of Power are two of my favorite albums.  Dimebag (RIP) was a metal guitar god!  And Anselmo's voice on those two albums is about as metal as u can get.......best workout music of all time, imo.

Two questions. 1. Didn't someone a while ago post a way to get around the YouTube ads? If I see another tiktok or crypto ad I might do like Johnny did with a bottle of whiskey and sleeping tablets.

2. WTH is up with all these narcissistic morons filming their "reaction" to a song?

when I took Courtney, I figured somebody would take Kurt. he was who I said she was turning into in my OP- less garagey, more kurt singer-songwriter indie. their duet album is pretty fantastic.

he's another one with so many solid tunes- dig this one for sure. first one I think of is Baby's Arms...but I'm sure I'd find a bunch of others once I started re-digging through it.

lol... I enjoyed those at first. but yeah- after one or two, really don't give a crap.

I do like the ones with a classically trained composer listening to new bands, like Radiohead.

Okay, need some EDM and a few more recent songs to further diversify my portfolio.  I crank this song in my car hoping that it makes me feel 20 years younger...and it usually works.

Warning was my 2nd choice today… followed by Dig
Dig is a great song!  It was 2nd or 3rd for me along with Wish you were here, and Nice to know you......any one of those.  I was surprised they lasted as long as they did.

I keep forgetting about these guys in drafts, and then when somebody invariably takes them I  . so this time I'm getting my chance. Bunch of tunes that work for me, DLZ, Million Miles, Wolf Like Me and especially their last one- Happy Idiot. TBH, I'm back and forth with Idiot and Health.
Tough to pick just one.  DLZ, Staring at the Sun, Blues from Down Here, Wolf Like Me, Halfway Home.....so many choices.  Great pick.

Marco timed out.  @dickey moeOTC
Not that I’m commish or anything, but with the holiday tomorrow and with people usually leaving work early to travel, I’m fine if we designate a cutoff time where everyone can finish off their 13th round picks.

That way, nobody has to keep track of a clock or @ people this afternoon. Looks like we’re pretty close to the end of the round anyway.

Thoughts?

13.14 - Amadou & Mariam - "Sabali"

Beautiful song from a very underrated musical duo.

For anyone unaware, they are a husband-and-wife duo, both blind since childhood, from Mali.  Amadou shreds on the guitar, and they both sing, most songs are in French.  Simply one of the best shows I've ever seen, just fascinating, very unique total vibes dance party.  I very highly recommend you check them out if they come through your city.

I don't mind keeping track as we only have a few people to go, and I'm around for several more hours.  Not that I'm commish or anything either.  :)

I enjoyed this.  The kitten Danny Says did not.

So the plan is to stop for the day when we get to the end of RD13?

Yes.  I was going to post another announcement about that when we get to Captain Cranks in this round.  I'll also give a tally at that point of who owes picks and how many, since those can be made before tomorrow.

It's gotten a little rough in here at times the last couple of weeks (some of that falls on me - again, apologies), but I want to wish a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. To our Canadian friends, Happy Thursday!

I'll be leaving early tomorrow to see family and will catch up whenever the hell I return.

13.33 Familiar, Agnes Obel

This is a strict music pick because I have no clue what she’s singing about, but it’s gorgeous.  Those that watched the Netflix series Dark may recognize this song from Season 1.  The overlay of the song on top of the show’s big reveal made for one powerful tv moment.  BTW, there's only one vocalist in this song.

Sorry for holding up there, just had some early Thanksgiving errands, a brunch and then the last good chance to get my last bit of leaf cleanup done before the weather gets nasty. I hope everyone is doing well and getting ready for the holiday.

13.x - The Go-Go's - Head Over Heels

in honor of their Rock & Roll HOF induction this year, I thought I would show the girls some love. I remember having a mean crush on Belinda Carlisle as a kid; she was always bouncing around and smiling whenever I saw her on TV. I don't think I knew what cocaine was yet...

I chose this song because it's dope, and it has a little different sound with the piano out front. and that drum & bass break in the middle is nasty.

SIDE NOTE: holy mother, that video is horrendous. that's bad, even by 80s standards. I almost picked an audio only version because the video is so distracting, but it needs to be seen to be believed.

I was taking these guys with my pick this round---either Wolf Like Me or Staring at the Sun.  Such a great band.

This is a very good song, but it pained me to have to type the band name into the spreadsheet with that apostrophe.

The Go-Go's what?

Time to relax and not watch bad football.

Happy Turkey Day.

PS- Canadians can have some turkey too.

Lasagna and meatballs on the menu here tomorrow.  :)

And because I know everyone was on pins and needles about this, I can report that the timing of my furniture move-in/move-out today worked out about as badly as it could, with the new furniture guys arriving and starting up about 7 minutes before the old furniture guys.  Luckily both teams were super-nice and super-helpful and super-efficient, so it all worked out fine, and they all earned good tips (though not at the :moneybag: Dr. O level).

Saw them live about 7 years ago at the Fillmore in SF...Belinda still a smokeshow.  They sounded pretty good.

Belinda and another artist yet to be drafted were the first two women that helped me understand that there was something else interesting about females that involved a little more than elementary school friendships.

Here is a live clip from the Shindig TV show of Mr. Excitement closing out the show with Baby Workout. The Chambers Brothers and The Blossoms (with Darlene Love) are doing backing vocals and at the end you can see Bobby Sherman dancing in the closing credits.

I have been too busy to follow this thread until this evening.   Disappointed that I missed 98 pages of music discussion.   These are always great threads.  Sorry to interrupt.   Please proceed.
