This place is going to die of fear. (1 Viewer)

Of all the places in the internet universe I would have guessed would die of fear.

Our own FBG FFA.

A Fantasy Football message board subforum FREE FOR ALL drowned in regulation.  The hilarity of that sentence might very well drown the sadness of it.

We went at it for more than a decade.  Thrived off of it.  Now politics kills another community unable to stand up to it.

Sir, this is an FF lodge.

No forums can stand up to politics. This place isn't unique.  Most forums I visit or used to died for the politic trolling and nonsense.

100% true.

Just miss the community and I feel it could have been protected for at least a while longer.

I'm sorry you feel this way

I used to post about 50 times on a Friday night and shoot videos of myself slamming beers in less than a second. It was great entertainment.

The fun posters left. You can say it's age, kids, moderation, etc. But the migration started 10 years ago. People got into Twitter and other ways to communicate.

Myself? I check in a few times a week. I'm on the wagon so things are different for me. I'd like to think I was a fun poster. But I actually work a blue collar job unlike the main demo. So I can't draft. I can't comment on most tv/movies because I'm a month late. I can't lead the drunk thread. I can just check in when I can.

Moderation has nothing to do with the FFA going south. It's the people. I hope I don't get banned but most of you suck

I left when yoga pants got axed.  I come back occasionally in the winter, but you won't see me much after April fools day.

Somehow this poem seems to fit here...

We are the hollow men
    We are the stuffed men
    Leaning together
    Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
    Our dried voices, when
    We whisper together
    Are quiet and meaningless
    As wind in dry grass
Or rats' feet over broken glass
    In our dry cellar

Shape without form, shade without colour,
    Paralysed force, gesture without motion;

    Those who have crossed
With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom
Remember us-if at all-not as lost
    Violent souls, but only
    As the hollow men
    The stuffed men.

                              II

Eyes I dare not meet in dreams
    In death's dream kingdom
    These do not appear:
    There, the eyes are
    Sunlight on a broken column
    There, is a tree swinging
    And voices are
    In the wind's singing
    More distant and more solemn
    Than a fading star.

    Let me be no nearer
    In death's dream kingdom
    Let me also wear
    Such deliberate disguises
    Rat's coat, crowskin, crossed staves
    In a field
    Behaving as the wind behaves
    No nearer-

    Not that final meeting
    In the twilight kingdom

                    III

    This is the dead land
    This is cactus land
    Here the stone images
    Are raised, here they receive
The supplication of a dead man's hand
Under the twinkle of a fading star.

    Is it like this
    In death's other kingdom
    Waking alone
At the hour when we are
    Trembling with tenderness
    Lips that would kiss
    Form prayers to broken stone.

                      IV

    The eyes are not here
    There are no eyes here
In this valley of dying stars
    In this hollow valley
This broken jaw of our lost kingdoms

In this last of meeting places
    We grope together
    And avoid speech
Gathered on this beach of the tumid river

    Sightless, unless
    The eyes reappear
    As the perpetual star
    Multifoliate rose
    Of death's twilight kingdom
    The hope only
    Of empty men.

                            V

Here we go round the prickly pear
    Prickly pear prickly pear
Here we go round the prickly pear
At five o'clock in the morning.

    Between the idea
    And the reality
    Between the motion
    And the act
    Falls the Shadow
                                    For Thine is the Kingdom

    Between the conception
    And the creation
    Between the emotion
    And the response
    Falls the Shadow
                                    Life is very long

    Between the desire
    And the spasm
    Between the potency
    And the existence
    Between the essence
    And the descent
    Falls the Shadow
                                    For Thine is the Kingdom

    For Thine is
    Life is
    For Thine is the

This is the way the board ends
This is the way the board ends
This is the way the board ends
Not with a bang but a whimper.
:hophead:

I was told there would be no politics.

or math.

unless it's that delicious, delightful pizza math.

eta: forgot to add :scared:  for all the fearfulness.

You hoped you wouldn't get banned right after you said moderation has nothing to do with it.

I mostly agree with this. Many of the core group that made the FFA great have left/post way less often. Whether that's because of moderation or just natural evolution of Internet discussion, I can't say. Everything is taken so seriously in here these days. Again, whether that's because of moderation or just the evolution of how internet discussions take place now, I can't say.

Comments meant in jest now either get someone pissed or get someone banned. I'm guilty of it too, to be sure.
