Tiger Woods (2 Viewers)

Based on today's +1 at the PGA, I think Tiger is done.

thoughts?
Most likely. Too many really good players playing well and with sizable leads.
Probably. Although an all-world round five or six better than the leaders would go a long way. Something he did six days ago, so who knows. He definitely looked like he was thinking a lot about the swing today, which isn't a good sign.

Injury withdrawals are not uncommon. Though he probably has done it less than most who have been out there as long as him. He's certainly never walked off the course a la Rory at the Honda, or wherever that was. For people who can only frame things in the most banal and talking point contexts, Rory is probably my favorite player out there.

even if the leaders were just a few strokes under for the day, he'd essentially have to set the record for the lowest round in a major to accomplish that.

Work must have really picked up for Otis after Tiger closed out his round with that double
He loses internet service at the most unfortunate times.
Just back at my hotel room and tuning in. Had to drive to Philly for a dinner tonight. Bummed about the double on the last hole -- that's ungood. He needs to just freaking relax and just play golf and stop letting a bad hole rattle him like this.

I agree it's not looking pretty, but I also agree with the poster above who thinks it's silly to write off Tiger after day 1 of any tournament. He's capable of outshooting the field by 6 strokes in a round. Just not sure he can do that on this course. We'll see -- I hope he can at least make the weekend interesting.

I always like to see tiger right there until the end and then fall on his face, but since he's way more likely to be out of it then in it come late sunday, a great consolation prize would be if he doesn't even make the cut. He's right on the edge right now. That would be epic.

Of course. Just saying anybody entertaining the thought that he's too far back is operating on a very short memory.

Less than 30 minutes to Tiger hitting his first tee shot. Wonder if the field is skeered?

Hoping for a 62 or an 82. All the way back and then some, or GTFH. Love the way he grinds but watching him struggle to another 72-73 isn't compelling theater.

Since Miller's 63 at Oakmont, there have been 24 others tied the record; overall, it's happened twice at the Masters, four times at the US Open, eight times at the Open Championship, and 11 times in the PGA.

It's about time somebody posted a 62. Could be today. Could be Woods. And I could win the Mega Millions tonight.

What a putt to save par.

I don't know why he bothers hitting anything other than irons and a putter. Seriously.

Hell of a start
Changing the narrative about a guy from one tournament to the next is incredibly dumb. Changing it from one round to the next is even dumber. Hole to hole is so dumb not even Junior would do it. Shot to shot? Truly amazing. I didn't think that level of dumb was attainable.
