Tiger Woods (1 Viewer)

But otherwise - I agree with the premise that Woods would hate the Champions Tour.

On the other hand, that seems like something Phil would do - try and take a run at most majors on Champions Tour.

This is out there but...

Looking at that replay, it was such an unnatural and awkward shot, maybe his WD was planned.

Maybe Watson told him that he's not making the team.

Maybe Finchem wanted a graceful out for the (former?) star?

Tiger Woods new goal - challenge Jack's record of 8 Champions Tour major victories.

He has a little over a decade to rehab and prepare for the challenge.
I'd be surprised if Tiger even plays on the Champions Tour. Doesn't seem like his style at all. I think he just disappears from public life at that age, especially if he never even sniffs Jack's PGA major record.
Dude's got bills to pay. Might be a limited schedule but if his sponsors want him to play....
Yeah but he doesn't like people. As soon as the majors quest is over, he's gone.
He made 8 Mil last year playing for Sheikhs and the like in non-PGA events. He's not a people person. But he understands green.

US is so hosed in the Ryder Cup. Not for who they're missing but the Euro players are peaking.
Serious question: does anyone really care about the Ryder Cup? Even if you're a huge golf fan, are you gonna lose sleep if the USA loses?
Lose sleep? No. But I'll definitely watch and if they get routed, it will be embarrassing.
It may be good for the US to come in as the huge underdog with no chance...which it will be.

Low end ham & egger now. Can't even compete in the tournaments where he knows the course like the back of his hand. He needs to give up trying to compete with the big hitters. he's not that anymore. He needs to adopt old man golf.

It was nice of him to show up for a couple of days, anyway.

Not for nothing, if you have a twinge of back pain at this point, blow some kisses to the crowd and have someone wheel you to the Escalade. Gutting it out and then being barely able to walk an hour later is just dumb. Seems like any setback at this point will just kill the whole career for good.

You're very probably right. Nobody doubts Tiger's toughness, particularly when he won the 2008 US Open essentially playing with an amputated leg. He handles success very well and has proved his toughness. On the other hand, he does not handle failure very well. From what I understand, he has never won a major coming from behind (I could be wrong about that). His loss of control when he hits a bad shot, and his claiming injury when he is doing poorly has raised the suspicion that he has thrown in the towel. Nobody can really tell, because who knows what another person's pain is like? But it is sad to see.

I would love to see Rory pull off the trifecta next week and nap his 4th major. If that happens, the conversation should turn to can Rory catch Tiger instead of can Tiger catch Jack. I don't think Rory has a shot at 18 majors but if he gets his 4th next week I believe he has a shot to catch Tiger at 14.

He's pretty young - still time to get side tracked by coke, whores, porn stars and waitresses at Waffle House

He still has bills to pay? Do you know how much he is worth?

He's done. He'll be competitive but he lost the fear factor. Looks like The Gold Bear might be out of the woods.
Not even competitive. You were half right
No, he was completely right. I would say tied for 4th at the 2010 Masters and 2010 US Open was competitive. He tied for 4th at the 2011 Masters. That's competitive. Won the Memorial and AT and T National in 2012. Won 3 times before the Masters in 2013 and got back to the #1 ranking. That's competitive. But this year, he's not competitive.

Its ####### hard to get to 18
Yes, I'm aware. But Rory is really the only guy with a 'shot'. Young, crazy talented, already won 3. To say he has no shot is a but strange. Phil has no shot. Adam Scott has no shot. Furyk, Sergio , Ernie, Kucher have no shot. Rory does.

Sounds like a possible LT catch up bet ...

I am never one to defend Tiger Woods, but when it comes to backs, all bets are off, since back issues can flare up at any time and there isn't much you can do about it except wait it out and hope for the best. And I say that as someone who has had back problems in the past, but never had to have surgery like Woods did.

If golf needs him so badly why don't they just let him get back on the juice and get his old form back? This is not difficult. Golf is really the most ridiculously backwards 'sport' we have going today.

The Lance Armstrong solution?

Yep. I like Rawr!y as much as the next guy, but golf needed an enema and Tiger gave it just that. Now? Now it's like Bud Selig called some PGA official and said, "Ok, guys. Enough's enough." If ANY sport needs PEDs its golf. I want to see more broken glass on a golf telecast than the streets of LA after a Giants/Dodgers game.

PEDs won't help Eldrick off the tee box. He has no idea where the ball is going.
Maybe you know more about golf than me, which wouldn't take much, but even Bubba said he couldn't tell he was hurt yesterday. And he was hitting it fine - lasers even. The problem with Tiger will be his cabeza as long as he doesn't have that sweet, sweet quench of artificial confidence.

Does any other golfer look like Tiger? No. Does any other golfer break down physically nearly as much as Tiger? Not even close. He's exactly like the baseball players at the end of the PED era - broken with no available, legal solution. He's A-Rod but nobody talks about it. I honestly believe this is what Tiger was buying when he bought all that silence from the whores.

Did you know there's a thread in this forum specifically set aside for HOT SPORTS TAKES? Between this and your "elBJ" posts in the NBA thread you're really burning up the internets!
