Yeah, 4 back now. Only Rose and Herschel under par so far. Incredible how tough this course is playing. These were supposed to be the easy scoring days. Tiger shoots two 69s on the weekend and he might be lifting the trophy.

Is that what the Tiger groupies have resorted to now? Says quite a bit when his most ardent supporters are now happy/satisfied to see him just 4 shots back.

He's putt the ball like ####, yet still has a great chance to win this tournament. I think you laughing at his status says more about Tiger's haters than the optimism of him being 4 back says about his defenders.

Being 4 back of the lead means he's got a great shot to win the US Open...you're not making a strong case against the thought that in general the Haters don't know much about golf.

Second round isn't over yet, but right now Donald, Woods and Mickelson are roughly listed as co-favorites right around 7-1.

I'm not hating on him, just a fact that even in his prime he was never a guy to win a tourney when he was behind heading into the final round. The idea at this point in his career he could win a major starting Sunday 3-4 strokes back is what is laughable.People hating on Tiger crack me up. Thanks for the laugh to start my weekend off.

He has come from behind to win on Sunday. You are talking solely about the 54 hole score, which oddly seems to be something people like to obsess over I guess since there is a period of sleep between the 54th and 55th hole? He has been behind on Sunday and won Majors. The '99 PGA for example, where he had to birdie the last two holes to get into a playoff with Bob May.

Laughable? Coming from 3-4 off the pace on Sunday is tough for anybody in the US Open, but he's more likely to do it than anybody else.

Well said. Pretty clear who knows golf and who doesn't in this thread. Tiger brought the masses to golf. With it comes those who don't know the history, difficulty and nuances of the game.Being 4 back of the lead means he's got a great shot to win the US Open...you're not making a strong case against the thought that in general the Haters don't know much about golf.

Tiger is a great front runner, that isn't a left handed compliment either. There has never been anyone better at having the lead heading into the last round and mapping out a gameplan to win. When you are coming from behind, there is a bit more guess work in terms of how aggressive you need to be and at a US Open it is near impossible to come from 3-4 back on the final day. The course isn't set up to go low and while they might dial back the pin placements today I think Sunday will be similar to Friday. I could see someone shooting 65 or 66 today but I don't think it is likely.

Get the heck outta here. Any golf tournament is far more interesting when Tiger is in the mix. Tiger is like the Yankees. Plenty of people cheer for him and plenty of people cheer against him. Regardless of the side you're on, you're cheering unlike most golfers who the average fan could care less about. Not only that, but you'll bring way more casual fans into the mix if tiger is in the mix as he's one of the few names that they even know.Might have to explain that one. Have you ever seen a player grimace after every shot an play several holes? A lot of times people leave the course without any grimacing. If there's a grimace, usually they are done right away.bushdocda said:
