Tiger Woods (6 Viewers)

Pretty early to comeback from back surgery, but I like it for the game.

+3 is more than I expected off injury. Heck, for perspective, Dufner, Spieth and Justin Rose are at +3 too (cue the hater's that say, "But they're not the GOAT"). Keegan Bradley tied for 4th at The U.S. Open and he's +4.

Golf band-wagoner's don't understand how hard it is to win golf tournaments. Now with a bad back? We'll see how he comes along. Look at Freddie.

Really? There are 4 players at -6. Anything under par would have been more than expected IMO.

+3 is about right. If he really is 100%, then it's not very impressive that he's off by, what, 4 shots per round because of time off?

It's not awful but it's not encouraging either.

Been at Congressional all week for work. Just have to say the parade of genes I saw today might be the most impressive I've ever seen. Bravo DC, bravo.

He said flat out that he was rusty and that he wouldn't be playing if not for the TWF being the benefactor. They asked him and he said yes. I'm sure the new sponsor asked as well. Maybe even Finchem. So, good for him for playing, knowing he didn't stand much of a chance on such a demanding golf course.

The DC delegate in the House is trying to get a plan attached to a bill that will turn East Potomac Golf Course (owned by the park service and a cheap, high volume, municipal course a half mile from the Jefferson Memorial) into a top dollar, world-class muni. A mile max from the National Mall. Tripping distance from K Street and Capitol Hill. On the Potomac River. The Congressional membership does not like the event, they're not too fond of Tiger at this point, and this six year/ever-other-year contract they just signed is probably the end of their relationship. He's scrambling to fill the alt years. Next year is at Robert Trent Jones GC, about 45 minutes outside DC. A pain in the ### to get to. They don't have sites for the other two years. Finchem is insisting on Avenel, Tiger hates it and apparently wouldn't even entertain the idea. And so there are two ships passing in the night. I wouldn't be surprised to see this event being played more or less on the National Mall in seven years.

ETA: 4th of July week, honoring the military.

The location is unbeatable, but do they have the room to expand? I've only played there once or twice, but it seemed very cramped.

It is, but there are an 18 hole course, a par-34 exec course, a par three course, and a large driving range. Plus there is room on the north end of the park to build around the park police HQ up to 395. I'm pretty sure there is room for all the hospitality/vendor tents they'd need. It'd be one of the most, if not the most, difficult events logistically on just about every front, but I think it would be doable.

Well, they'll need to get it ready, because by the time Tiger wins his 20th major in a couple of years, he'll be the 800 lb gorilla, and can have it anywhere he wants to.

Oh, wait...

If he can get within a couple of the lead at the end of the day, it should draw in a few of the nuthuggers.

Game on ladies. We haven't lost in over 6 years. You guys gotta be hugging your Eldrick dolls after that round.

In the past, if Tiger shot a 3 under on the first day, it was good news. Because that was probably going to be his worst round. Now, when he shoots a 3 under on the first day, there's a good chance he just shot his best round of the tournament.
