Not sure I see the difference other than one is golf and the other is football.  

Player is injured and is not able to play.  People would have purchased tickets already for the event for both people.  Some people may have purchased those Carolina tickets months in advance.

You don't think Carolina is "pimping" or marketing the heck out of Cam Newton to sell tickets?  How many billboards do you see of Graham Gano or Mike Remmers? 

Sure they might not be identical because Tiger has been off for how long, but surely you have to see the similarity between the two cases.

No, don't really see the similarity at all. And I think that the governor of NC and legislators who voted in favor of the "Bathroom Bill" should refund ticket holders for the Carolina game.

Tiger changed  golf for my generation and got people interested that would never have been. Is the guy a jerk? Yup.. so was Jordan yet he's beloved. 

And for anyone to think Tiger is nuts for thinking he can still come  back and get 19 ..Then you obv don't get the guy. He IS the greatest Golfer ever IMO..  And and he's OBSSESED with being the best because that's all he knew until he broke down. 

He's an intense crazy enigma of a man.

The "bum" probably also didn't have his wife take a nine iron to his head because he'd slept with a million other women.  Being good at golf isn't everything.

Believe tiger did talk about how marriage and all the shenanigans were also part of the reason his focus towards golf diminished.. or it was Haney who acknowledged it

 
Hopefully Tiger can stay healthy and play at August this year.  

I think it isn't even an argument anymore regarding him beating Jack's record, that is off the table.  I think the goalposts have shifted and now it is all about can he win one more major. I'd say that is a coin flip.

Not even a major, a regular stop. Keeping enough rounds in line to (wait for it) to make a cut and then competitive enough to beat players that are 15 years younger is a dream.
