Tiger Woods (7 Viewers)

This time around, his peers have made a unanimous presentation that the swing speed is back with Woods. That’s not been the case in prior comebacks. He’s moving it with the driver and back to bombing it out there off the tee, we’re told. Rickie Fowler said he was hitting it “way by” him at their club in South Florida. Brad Faxon said Woods hit it past Dustin Johnson, maybe the biggest hitter in the world, half the time during their game last week. DJ then also added that he thought the speed was back in an interview earlier this week.

During a pro-am on Wednesday, Woods poked one some 340 yards, driving the green of a par-4 and making eagle.

Striking the ball great - two bad chips and that one got in his head and he rushed his next shot.  That's where a caddie has to help him out.  He's probably going to bogey after being 2 feet from probably a tap-in birdie.  This is what makes golf so difficult and it will take him a while before he has any chance of being real competitive.

I'm overreacting to this so hard!!!!!!! :pickle:
yeah - it'll be impossible to tell anything from this weekend or really for several weeks (unless he contends or blows up) - he looks good with a little rust.  Two bad chips or he could be in the lead and I don't think that's an exaggeration.  But even if he plays well this week/weekend backs are finicky things.  He could never be the same.

Hopefully he can play more than a couple days in a row. Great story line.

Every pro golfer should be praying his new robo-back holds up.

I have a suggestion for those involved in a career major bet that currently has no defined endpoint.

Tiger doesn't make the cut in a 2018 major, the over-Jack side pays.

Tiger makes a cut in a 2018 major, the under-Jack side pays.

This would represent a concession from the over-Jack side to end the bet in Tiger's early 40s, and is effectively free early money for those positive his competitive career is over.

Yeah I bet 5 grand on the Browns winning the SB this year so I asked my bookie if we could change it so I win if they gain a first down this week. Still waiting to hear back.

There's a point at which the Browns have not won the Super Bowl this year. When has Tiger not caught Jack?  When he's older than Tom Watson was at the British Open?

Anyway, the point has been raised earlier that Tiger's competitive career is over, so the folks not being disingenuous with that contention should look at this as +EV.

I guess it's tough luck for not specifying an end date, but I think I'd rather wait until he's in a wheelchair or dead, or whenever the other guy decides to be gracious and concede. It's a 100% win if I wait, and much less than that if I risk it now. But I'm not a gambler and have seen crazier bets.

7 fairways.  11 greens.

Not great.  Long road ahead.
It was great hearing the announcers rationalize this.

"He's really only had one REALLY AWFUL drive all day."

"He's just missing the fairway/green. Surely this is a sign he's back."

"His swing looks good. It's just a matter of distance control."

Short game still a long ways away. Had some really wild looking shots. It takes time. Hopefully his body holds up long enough for the feel to arrive.

One thing I noticed is he looks thinner. His upper body not as yolked up as before.  Probably his back rehab forced a prolonged break from weights. Overall probably a good thing for his back.

I think the reason is more chemically-related, but he definitely isn't as jacked up.
