I didn’t hear any of this (because I wasn’t watching after and only watched the broadcast with the sound down) but it’s a pretty accurate description. He hit a bunch with his driver and really only had one bad swing. He went years without being able to hit it. Now he may spray it all over the course today - and I doubt he’s ever truly “back” but the guy I watched yesterday can be a tour player - the one the last few years couldn’t play the mini-Tours.It was great hearing the announcers rationalize this.
"He's really only had one REALLY AWFUL drive all day."
"He's just missing the fairway/green. Surely this is a sign he's back."
"His swing looks good. It's just a matter of distance control."
Anyone that doesn't think he draws fans to the game is naive. No doubt he has his haters, but if he ever was in contention on a Sunday of any tournament (major or non) the ratings would be significantly higher. Also, and I know huge golf fans don’t want to hear this, but he makes golf relevant - they need him. If he wasn’t playing I wouldn’t be watching a second of it.
WORST PREDICTION EVER.He's done. He'll be competitive but he lost the fear factor. Looks like The Gold Bear might be out of the woods.
Never a doubt.Drove the par 4 9th, 18 ft for eagle.![]()
it was a par-5 but still a great 3 woodDrove the par 4 9th, 18 ft for eagle.![]()
Tiger a bit shaky these last few holes but overall he looks so much better than previous comeback attempts.
I've gone back and forth on Tiger so many times in his career, rooting for or against him many times. It would obviously be so great though for him to be healthy and playing well heading into the Masters. I hope it happens. Binky is going to owe me $500 regardless.
I have a $500 bet with Baloney Sandwich on passing Jack in majors ...are you Baloney Sandwich? lol. right. because if he makes a cut in a major I might as well pay out a bet that he will win 5 more majors from here on out.I have a suggestion for those involved in a career major bet that currently has no defined endpoint.
Tiger doesn't make the cut in a 2018 major, the over-Jack side pays.
Tiger makes a cut in a 2018 major, the under-Jack side pays.
This would represent a concession from the over-Jack side to end the bet in Tiger's early 40s, and is effectively free early money for those positive his competitive career is over.
I have one: are you really putting this much stock in what amounts to a charity event with a field of 18 guys on holidays? let's see how his back holds up to a regular run of tour starts. the dude hasn't won a major in a decade. trip sipping the kool-aid rather than chugging it.Never a doubt.
Any more questions people?
Yeah, I'm here too. Nice to see and certainly encouraging, but a long way from showing he can hold up over the next few years.I have one: are you really putting this much stock in what amounts to a charity event with a field of 18 guys on holidays? let's see how his back holds up to a regular run of tour starts. the dude hasn't won a major in a decade. trip sipping the kool-aid rather than chugging it.
I am the artist formerly known as Baloney Sandwich. An unfortunate incident a while back requires me to use a new name.I have a $500 bet with Baloney Sandwich on passing Jack in majors ...are you Baloney Sandwich?
I also have a $100 bet with Getz on whether he wins in calendar years 2017 or 2018 (tour win).
I have no other bets.
ETA: Correction - the $100 bet is with @Tackling Dummies not Getz ...sorry Getz. I had to check my inbox messages.
I don't care what the 18 other guys are doing and when Tiger is Tiger, neither does he.I have one: are you really putting this much stock in what amounts to a charity event with a field of 18 guys on holidays? let's see how his back holds up to a regular run of tour starts. the dude hasn't won a major in a decade. trip sipping the kool-aid rather than chugging it.
I'll predict that he's back to bangin' strange left and right.WORST PREDICTION EVER.
Of course - dude is back. You don't think 27 holes of golf in the Bahamas with 17 other guys is nothing do you?zoonation said:I have one: are you really putting this much stock in what amounts to a charity event with a field of 18 guys on holidays? let's see how his back holds up to a regular run of tour starts. the dude hasn't won a major in a decade. trip sipping the kool-aid rather than chugging it.
That's a great question. I don't have an answer for ya.Omg why hasn’t Otis paid his bet yet??????
Stretching for sure but there are definitely some weight lifts you should do for power and balance in golf. The General said:As a sports fan awesome see him back for the great storylines he brings.
Definitely less muscle bound. It looks like he even has a bit of a gut going on.
If I’m a golfer I never touch a weight, stretching, some yoga, eat well and drink a couple beers would be my regiment.
Don't necessarily disagree, however he's scoring and hitting great shots. Doesn't matter who's playing, the course is the course and for a guy who hasn't played professionally in over 300 days, it's extremely impressive.zoonation said:I have one: are you really putting this much stock in what amounts to a charity event with a field of 18 guys on holidays? let's see how his back holds up to a regular run of tour starts. the dude hasn't won a major in a decade. trip sipping the kool-aid rather than chugging it.
This is an old, outdated belief and terrible advice. The General said:As a sports fan awesome see him back for the great storylines he brings.

Well, I am old and outdated. This is an old, outdated belief and terrible advice.
Lower body eccentric loading is what I am all about.Reasonable strength training is very beneficial for golfers. Especially lower body eccentric loading.
Man that’s why I didn’t make the tour. This is an old, outdated belief and terrible advice.
If this is your way of asking out of the bet, just say so. I may let you out.zoonation said:lol. right. because if he makes a cut in a major I might as well pay out a bet that he will win 5 more majors from here on out.
The odds of me losing this bet are like 0.001%. Now, given the terms, I concede the odds of me collecting are not much better. It has been fun and, honestly, I doubt I ever collect. Hell, given the way Tiger looks right now, Oats can ride this baby out until the dude is confined to a wheelchair.
I don't really care. Oats is s stand up guy. He and I both know that Tiger ain't winning five more majors. But it's not over until it is over. So I am happy to enjoy the banter along the way. I hope he comes back strong this year. Can you imagine how awesome this season will be if Tiger is relevant again? Would be so awesome.
Here let me help you:That's a great question. I don't have an answer for ya.
this is when I was in my "wave your arms in the air like you just don't care" phase.Lower body eccentric loading is what I am all about.
I'll take him versus Spieth in the 4 Majors this year for a hundy. Finishing position in each, MC gets you the cut line +1. Lowest number after the PGA wins.BTW I’m available for more bets on majors this season. Maybe one of you guys will be smart enough to place sensible conditions on your end of the bet.
What kinda odds you offering me? You know, since I’m betting on a finished golfer and all.I'll take him versus Spieth in the 4 Majors this year for a hundy. Finishing position in each, MC gets you the cut line +1. Lowest number after the PGA wins.
Always nice to have a little action.
I'm giving you the best golfer history, seems like a great deal for Otis. What kinda odds you offering me? You know, since I’m betting on a finished golfer and all.
I may have to rescind my offer after Tiger wins this weekend. What kinda odds you offering me? You know, since I’m betting on a finished golfer and all.
