The anti-Tebow crowd has been pretty reasonable after the loss, so kudos on that.

I thought Tebow played just OK in the game. Obviously the 3 turnovers (one of which he contributed to) in a row really set them back, but I thought he should have taken more shots downfield once he got behind. I know it goes against the anti-turnover mentality that he and Fox have developed but there comes a point where, when the opposing team is starting a 4th string WR at safety, you need to just put the ball out there and let your WR make a play on it.

He used to do it all the time so I'm not sure if it's a change in mentality brought on by the coaches, him being determined not to turn it over, or losing Lloyd, who used to be his go to guy in those situations. When he's gotten behind in the past (Houston/SD last year, 1st SD game this year) he's been willing to give people a shot downfield and it's worked out well. I don't think he trusts the current WRs in coverage (especially Decker, who seems only capable of catching a pass if there's no defender close enough nearby to sneeze on him), but he seems to be gaining some trust in Demaryius so maybe he'll get back to it.

Tebow didn't play bad yesterday. He played like Tebow. Denver has been winning by play calling to his strenghts. Tebow just doesn't have the skill set to air it out and win games right now. I'm not sure he ever will.

Bottomline, I think he is a great story and exceeding expectations, but it would be a mistake for Denver to build their franchise around him and his skillset.

Also, these last few weeks have been encouraging. I have seen an improvement in his throwing and it is intriging what he could do with a little more talent around him. Say a really good receiving tight end or some kind of back like Sproles. I think the offense could be very successful with a little more talent and some tweaking. Tebow really doesn't need to do more than one or two of his QBs sneaks all game to keep the threat alive and with a little restraint he can pick and chose his spots on contact when he runs out of the pocket downfield, thus limiting the big hits he takes. And if the Broncos develop the running game further it will make his throwing development that much easier.

And given their likely draft position Tebow is going to be around for at least one more year as starting QB. The Broncos better be thinking hard on how to make Tebow better.

Sadly, in today's society, I think there are a great many people who sight being "offended" as simply an opportunity to call a "PC FOUL" - either simply because they can, they enjoy the attention, or simply enjoy raining on other people's proverbial parades.Quite predictably, there is very little tolerance for those who outwardly show religious views - an oddity in that the intolerance and contempt is usually born from an outcry of tolerance. This is how I see it. Add to it that the dude is 100% positive and gives credit to his team I just don't see how people can be so negative about the guy. We need more Tebows in the league.

That's a little over the top. I think fans of AFC West teams have valid reason to hate him (he plays for a rival and is winning). Tebow garnered a lot of hate with his abortion commercial. As he should have. That's what happens when you take an extremely controversial stance. He knew what he was doing and was prepared to deal with the hate (or he's simply a moron which I do not believe). Throw in his hyper-religion and he came across as an annoying ##### even if he meant well. Even other former players were calling him out. He seems to have toned down the religion aspect a bit so kudos to him. But let's not pretend he wouldn't have just as many haters if he took up just as loud of a stance to promote atheism. It's what happens to anyone who stands out (look how many folks hate OchoCinco despite him clearly being one of the good guys - people don't care for his lookatme shtick).

As far as hating him outside the religious shtick, he was being looked at as the sole reason the Broncos turned things around. That's a bit annoying to many football fans. I can certainly understand why someone would hate him for garnering all the attention when the guy gets carried by the team for most of a game and then scrambles around and he's seen as this great quarterback. Is it exciting to watch? Hell yes. Does it make him a good quarterback? Hardly. And let's not act like he's the first scrambling quarterback to rip off a bunch of wins despite having questionable throwing abilities. Vick has his critics. Vince Young has lots of skeptics. If the Niners, Ravens, or several other teams win it's because they won with their great defense despite having a game manager at quarterback. If the Broncos win it's because Tebow performed a miracle? Huh?

Tebow is supposed to be above being questioned because...why? He has shown lots of potential. But he's also shown lots of flaws. Flaws which professionals said would be too much to overcome. Professionals aren't always right but because they're wrong sometimes doesn't mean we should totally ignore them. I see no reason to claim he's great when he has a good game. Most of his critics will admit he's looked good at times. And most of his supporters will admit he's looked real bad at times.

His scrambling ability is hard to rate (not the first time rushing yards from a qb haven't been fully appreciated). But his passing stats...his ypa this season is similar to Flacco and Fitzpatrick. He passes for fewer yards than EVERY other quarterback in the league (Gabbert is second to last with 24 more per game, and Gabbert is 23 behind the low end of the pack). He's only averaging 18 attempts per game. Vick/Newton are at 34/32. The second lowest in the league throws 25 times per game. Is it Tebow's fault they don't need to pass more? Not at all. But I believe there are many quarterbacks in the league who could also lead their teams to fourth quarter comebacks if it's kept close all game. I think what we're seeing from Tebow is a statistical anomaly which will correct itself over time unless he makes major improvements (which I'm skeptical will happen).

Would that be crickets cherping between your ears? ANYONE who speaks with absolute authority on religion as if it were based on FACT and not FAITH is a zealot.Tebow has done that – he's not shy about it (probably quite proud of it) – there is video evidence of Tebow addressing a group of young people WARNING of where they will end up if they do not embrace Jesus Christ into their hearts. That makes him a zealot.I personally find religious zealots extremely annoying (at the least) if not potentially damaging and dangerous (worst case). If the fact that I perceive Tim Tebow as a zealot bothers others on this board… I am OK with that.

FTR, I strongly disagree with Tebow's beliefs. I think he's awfully near an extremely dangerous branch of Christianity and as such I don't care to hear him push his beliefs (I have no issue with Christianity in itself but there are different forms/levels within the religion and some of the groups he's aligned himself with are too extreme for my taste). He's only averaging 18 attempts per game. Vick/Newton are at 34/32. The second lowest in the league throws 25 times per game. Is it Tebow's fault they don't need to pass more? Not at all. But I believe there are many quarterbacks in the league who could also lead their teams to fourth quarter comebacks if it's kept close all game. I think what we're seeing from Tebow is a statistical anomaly which will correct itself over time unless he makes major improvements (which I'm skeptical will happen).

Jeff Darlington at NFL.com has a story up about how after the game yesterday, Tebow went out and met up with the brain tumor survivor girl that he took to the college football awards show a couple years ago. Apparently he called her and her family last week on his own to catch up on how she's doing. Hate on his beliefs all you want, but I can't help but respect the guy for stuff like that.

I'm a devout Christian myself, but I honestly wouldn't care if there were atheists, pagans, or whatever else on my fantasy or real-life teams. Even if they insisted on proselytizing their beliefs off the field, I can still enjoy their talents in the game and choose not to listen to what they say off the field. I don't know whether Michael Jordan likes Hanes, but I assume he does commercials for them because they pay him not because he likes the products. There's a difference if Tebow wasn't paid (and I don't know if he was or wasn't). But when I see a commercial I assume whoever is in the commercial was motivated by pay not by their love of whatever they're espousing.I never saw the Tebow commercial so I don't really know what he said or anything. I would not be surprised at all about the KKK point. I very much disagree with the bolded. I don't know whether Michael Jordan likes Hanes, but I assume he does commercials for them because they pay him not because he likes the products. There's a difference if Tebow wasn't paid (and I don't know if he was or wasn't). But when I see a commercial I assume whoever is in the commercial was motivated by pay not by their love of whatever they're espousing.I never saw the Tebow commercial so I don't really know what he said or anything. I only watch the Superbowl when my team is playing in it.

The Tebows have a long standing relationship with Focus. Focus has a large money making operation in the home school arena - it is used to provide books, courseware(intelligent design) and help for the Christian based home school families. Tim's high school education as a home schooled kid was a major story through his athletic endeavors and in his missionary story.

I don't think he was paid for this add - I'm not 100% sure he wasn't given any "apperance fee" - or maybe a quid pro quo to one of his foundations(or parents) from Focus - the bottom line here is that the Tebows know exactly what Focus stands for. Not sure if it was out of "love" - but it is part of their core beliefs.

The only people that hate Tebow are losers in the game of life. They are jealous of how awesome of a person Tebow is. They look at Tebow, hate him with Envy and then go back to live in their mom's basement.

That's a little over the top. I think fans of AFC West teams have valid reason to hate him (he plays for a rival and is winning). I can understand if SEC fans carry over a little hate too (he played for a rival and won). I also think some people in general dislike it when an unproven player, any unproven player, receives too many accolades, although it is getting more difficult to call him unproven at the NFL level.

You make valid points. I was referring to people hating on Tebow do to other reasons. They know who they are.

Tebow has aligned himself with an extremely controversial group. This group has repeatedly called for a ban on equal rights for gays (they are also against porn and gambling).If these people hate all religious folks who push their beliefs then yes I agree that' ridiculous. I'm an atheist who has no problem with church pushers coming to my door (they're doing it from a place of love). But some groups push for beliefs I find extremely offensive and downright disgusting. Tebow has worked with a group that I have no respect for. Perhaps he simply shares their one belief on abortion. But they've been incredibly vocal on their anti-gay agenda so I'm hard pressed to believe Tebow isn't aware of it.

I assume he is against abortions, but the extent of his actions were doing a commercial for them right? Wasn't he paid for it? If they gave me enough money I'd do a commercial for the KKK even though I disagree with them. I know that's not a fair comparison because he probably at least agrees with the abortion stance, but doing a commercial against abortions doesn't mean you agree with everything that group stands for. I say this as a guy who thinks abortions are very good for society.

If you did a commercial for the KKK would you really be surprised if people thought you agreed with some of their beliefs? Especially their more vocal stances?Maybe Tebow disagrees with all of their beliefs but abortion. 1) doing a commercial with the group implies you agree with them to some extent (and their anti-gay agenda has been hard to miss if you know the group). 2) never speaking out against the group you worked with implies you agree with their beliefs to some extent.

Anytime I see a thread where someone contends that the Christian viewpoint is persecuted unfairly, I have to step back out. That's like me saying it's tough getting a fair shake as a white adult male in this society.
