So now they traded for Kamalei Correa. Odds on him being moved to FB?We tried coaching, let's see what fear does.![]()
Bring on Fowler, though. I mean that...
I'm very confident in him being a third down back in this league. Since Lewis is injury prone, I think the Titans are taking a very big risk hoping he clears waivers.Bri, I'm a big fan of Wadley's, too...what are your odds of his outcomes: done, PS or gets a job elsewhere?
Patriots announced their cuts. Time to go shopping.
Oh look, there's Brian Schwenke......New England Patriots

they tried to trade him twice and he's barely practiced so I assume this is the yearArodin said:What are the Titans' fans thoughts on Rishard Matthews as a fantasy asset?
He's always been a steady, reliable undervalued producer, but is this the year he is supplanted by Davis and Taylor, or is it probable he holds down a starting position all year?
Been a bad few days, all good though nowmsommer said:
Maybe Vrabel should ask Hue how rotating QBs worked out for CLE last year. This sounds like a terrible idea.Titans coach Mike Vrabel said he expects Marcus Mariota (questionable, elbow) and Blaine Gabbert to both play in Sunday's Week 2 matchup against the Texans.
Thats stupid. I think Mariota is sitting and he wants the Texans to plan for him and them went too farMaybe Vrabel should ask Hue how rotating QBs worked out for CLE last year. This sounds like a terrible idea.
Hope he gets better soon (regardless of Sunday readiness)Kelly's illness got worse, in the hospital now
I don't recall Gabbert making much use of his TEs. He may be an upgrade over Cassel but the jury is most definitely still outBri said:A 5 WR set with Jennings and Adoree was unveiled this week
Jonnu had a great week and seems fired up
Finch and Wallace were excellent this week....might not play though.
Gabbert is still Gabbert. We know him. He's going to have to be the backup that tries his best to play mistake free while the offense runs and runs and runs. I'll even consider a dump or flip to Lewis as a run this week.I don't recall Gabbert making much use of his TEs. He may be an upgrade over Cassel but the jury is most definitely still out
Not even thatMatthews...umm how do you spend a minute with Belichick and not appreciate someone that converts 3rd downs? His trade value was whatever and now I bet they only get a sandwich in return.
They probably want to recuperate the remainder of the signing bonus from his first contract.....Matthews texted NFL Network's Tom Pelissero that the Titanshave told him they're granting his request and that he "would love to still play" somewhere.
The release is not official yet because there are some contractual issues, Pelissero added.
Rishard has been great but they'll be just fine without him. Taylor needs to develop.Bri said:So upset to lose a top WR. Like I said before, he is wrecking the team to make it his own IN season rather than the offseason
I thought this during the trade talk time. However, LaFleur's offense and the NFL standard is a 3 WR set. I don't see this as one for one and I'm angry Vrabel and JRob are selling it as that.Rishard has been great but they'll be just fine without him. Taylor needs to develop.
You seem angry for a fan of a team that's currently leading the division, having just beaten the team that beat the Patriots.Last I looked 32nd ranked pass D and 32nd ranked offense. Last week the pass D stepped up as Sims (who they tried to trade) stepped in for Adoree. That was finally Pees showing me something. He's gotta keep it up. LaFleur must step up. JRob is no fool.
Rishard makes JRob look bad for giving a raise and not being able to trade. They had a third if he just entered free agency via compensation.
This was a playoff team. 32nd ranked anything is unacceptable.
I would bet huge $ Rashaan plays a ton this week and Vrabel's stupid weening (which its not its spoon feeding) quote isn't true. I bet grumpy JRob said you play my first round pick!
He was not happy yesterday and Titans fans need to think on that. We haven't seen him unhappy since Mularkey was fired.
Kenneth Adams is all facts and all business. They better have their ducks in a row by January. A famous legal mind won't fall for anything they spin
I was pumping my fist happy at the end of the game. Mariota was great and somewhere in there I was just like ya know, this is my QB. I just love that guy.@Bri
Do you feel better today?
I'm as surprised as anyone that they won this game but it does show that they are capable of playing with anyone.
They'll show inexperience at times, their tackling needs to improve, I'm still disappointed that Henry isn't living up to my expectations, but I'm liking a lot of things from today.
1QBest job by a coaching staff: Tennessee Titans.
Mike Vrabel's group has managed to win a game started by Blaine Gabbert with a heavy dosage of Derrick Henry running the wildcat and a cornerback named Dane Cruikshank finishing as their leading receiver. They won a game in Jacksonville without scoring a touchdown and beat the defending Super Bowl champions on Sunday after trailing 17-3 midway through the third quarter.
Sunday's victory should convince the rest of the AFC of Tennessee's upside. Finally healthy and looking comfortable in new coordinator Matt LaFleur's system, Marcus Mariota recorded the second-highest graded game of his career on Sunday, according to Pro Football Focus, an assessment that sounds about right. On a day that saw Dion Lewis and Henry combine for 24 rushing yards, the Titans attacked Philadelphia's sneaky bad secondary all afternoon. Mariota threw for 344 yards despite at least four dropped passes. Mariota also led the team with 46 yards rushing, including a 17-yard run that set up the game's decisive moment in overtime.
Mariota was allowed to be the hero on Sunday because his coaching staff trusted him. Vrabel passed on a potential 49-yard field goal to tie the game in overtime in favor of going for it on fourth-and-2. Mariota rewarded that trust. It was the third fourth down Mariota picked up that drive, including a bullet on fourth-and-15 to Taywan Taylor. Veteran Rishard Matthews begging off the team last week could prove to be a blessing in disguise. Corey Davis looked every bit like a true No. 1 receiver on the way to 161 yards and the leaping, game-winning touchdown. Taylor needs to be a big part of the weekly game plan, too. The Titans' defense is undeniably playing tougher under Vrabel, led by stalwart defensive tackle Jurrell Casey. If Mariota can play anywhere close to this level moving forward, Tennessee is ready to become an AFC contender. Speaking of which ...
Tennessee Titans (AFC South, 3-1)
Current end-of-season projection: Seventh in the AFC (but still "in" the postseason picture, for the purposes of this article).
The Jags are currently projected to win the division and the Titans are projected to finish seventh in the AFC. But it's important to note that the combined playoff percentage for the top six teams in the NFC is the same as the top eight in the AFC, meaning Tennessee is still very much in contention for the playoffs. Effective defensive pressure can have a greater impact on season win totals than a quarterback, and no defensive front has used different pressure packages more effectively than the Titans. Consistent interior pressure, as exemplified by Jurrell Casey on both passing and rushing downs, is schematically complemented by creative rushes, blitzes and spacing that have led to game-changing plays (e.g., Harold Landry's strip-sack against Philadelphia). As for the quarterback position, the improved health of Marcus Mariota could be the X-factor for Tennessee. Mariota improved on accuracy, scrambling and production while under pressure in Week 4, converting two fourth downs on a game-winning touchdown drive in overtime. If the Titans' offense can stay healthy, the efficiency of their defensive scheme and schedule makes a wild-card berth very attainable.
