**TNF on Prime - Niners at Rams**(-8.5, 44) 8:15 (1 Viewer)

Little bit shocked that the Niners managed to jump on top
I thought the play calling was nothing fancy but very well executed on short crossing routes to loosen up the defense
CMC is the WR1 tonight with help from the back up Tight Ends, so far very effective

Will the Niners be able to run out the clock in the 2nd Half?
I believe they need to keep their foot on the gas with Mac Jones
13 passes, 8 CMC rushes, Niners showing they are not afraid to throw the football

Excellent job with so many injuries, would have ben easy to shrug this one off on such a short week
Can't say enough about their effort here in the 1st Half

I also am not going to discredit the Rams, I've watched them for several weeks and I still think they are a strong football team
Division rivalry with possibly 1st place on the line, Niners came ready to do battle

This really is not a surprise.

The Rams rush is excellent and it would seem that way [that we should start the Rams D] but it's Mac Jones and the receivers are all professionals like Bourne and Demarcus Robinson and MVS. In addition, you've got McCaffrey in the backfield. If I'm Shanahan, I run the ball with B Rob and McCaffrey and invite the rush right into a bunch of screens to the best receiving running back that might have ever played the game.

It's really if the offensive line can handle the pressure, but it's not a non-functioning QB and a fumble-crazy RB.

There’s probably a research paper to be done on perception of football players in fantasy. Mac Jones did ok last year with the Jags in an impossible situation but he sure made Thomas effective like he should be. Mac Jones may just join Mayfield in the resurrected QBs list, & Dan Jones may not be far behind.

Love CMC and he is still very good. However, it’s sad to see he is not the same running the ball.

He is twenty-nine and his body has been through it. The only problem is if him being on the field is a tell they are passing or that he’s so ineffective even against light boxes that other teams can play coverage and not worry. So long as he’s a threat his YPC can dip by .5 and it won’t matter (unless it is tied to an obvious physical decline that is too limiting and too apparent).

interesting. at the moment the fumble was given to Stafford.
Always. Can’t fumble what you never possessed. I’ve always hated that rule - it was clearly on Corum, but yes, it will 100% of the time be credited to the QB. Technically Stafford lost possession tossing a live ball backwards.

Anything else is ancillary. It’s a bad system, but that’s the system.

yeah that actually makes sense. can't fumble what you never possessed.

Excellent job by Ferguson to jump and locate the ball since the DB never saw it and come down with the catch. Decent throw but Ferguson was well covered
Lot of QBs wouldn't even attempt that pass, nice job by Stafford to push the ball down field

What would not be good is running two more plays and then punting with like a minute and a half left and the Rams offense feeling pretty good about themselves
This could still end up a tie score before they head to the locker rooms

Gonna be interesting what Shanahan dials up here, they absolutely need a FD even if they don't get points on this drive

And after all that nonsense, Mac Jones finds his TE open across the middle for a first down
Mac Jones has to be moving into one of the better back up QBs, he doesn't look nearly as bad as others we've seen of late

In SF, many QBs have looked better than they really are. Jimmy G and Kapernick are prime examples. Mac picked the perfect place to ressurect his career, although no one could've predicted the injury to Purdy. With a competent O-coordinator, he had a very good rookie season. He'll have to wait until 2027 to test free agency.

In Miami, management selected Zach Wilson just hours into free agency, at 6mil for one year, whereas Jones got 7mil for 2 years. That's GM malpractice on Grier's part.

Cinci wishes Browning looked this good.
Jake has Chase and Tee. Who does Mac have? Well, besides CMC?
DRob & Bourne. Incredible. Imagine Jones with that talent.

Of course, he’d get killed behind that line too. lol

QB controversy
Purdy is 100% a better athlete. Imagine Niners offense with Jennings, Auyik, Kittle, and Pearsall.
Mac had a Garoppolo first half. Good decisions, on target easy throws, take what's there, avoid mistakes. He also stays in the pocket and takes a hit - something i noticed in his rookie year. Meanwhile, yes, Purdy is a better athlete and he makes wow throws almost every game I've seen.
