total recall remake (1 Viewer)

If they wanted to remake it with a better actor than Arnold, then why didn't they find a better actor than Arnold?

This is an abomination.

Also remaking/rebooting? Spiderman 4 years after the last one.

#### you Hollywood.

Has to be a continuation, but the 3rd one was good enough reason to let sleeping dogs lie. Bringing this series back with a new Spiderman is worse than having a new take on a 20yr old movie, great as it may be

Okay, I'll be the guy who says that this is a movie that genuinely deserves a remake. I saw the original several months ago for the first time in years, and I was surprised by how bad it was; it much cheesier than I had remembered. And of course Arnold was awful. This could have been a much better movie with a better cast and a darker style.

Of course, that's not the direction they seem to be going with this so I'm sure the remake will probably suck, but this isn't like remaking an already-perfect film like Halloween. It's a remake of a good story that deserved a better film treatment.

I like the idea, I like that's it's not a complete repeat and the story isn't going to be on Mars. What I don't understand is if it's going to be in a completely different setting, why bother associating it with Total Recall? Just call it something else if it's not part 2 or a prequel.

I tend to agree, but Arnold always gave campy films a little bit of a nudge. Not sure who you can put in as a drop in replacement.

Very first sentence sums up the whole movie.

Total Recall features a three-breasted mutant prostitute, the nightmarish vision of Arnold Schwarzenegger digging a tracking device out of his skull through his right nostril, and the questionable scientific assertion that Martian radiation can turn an average human into a bug-eyed space monster.
And it was great.

Found something I can agree with Hucks on...she was hot as balls in that one.

Not long after my first sinus surgery...my doctor was up in my nose with his scope and pulled out a scab that felt like that tracking device coming out.Good times.

Perhaps some quad-boobage?

ETA: Jesus you guys beat me to it :P

'Total Recall' remake: Colin Farrell is in...but Mars is out?

"Martian radiation"

:lmao:

Preview looks good, I'll see it. Watch the original then come back

and bag on the remake-It's not that great, Good but not untouchable.

Some movies you saw as a youth don't remain as awesome as you get older.

Looks pretty bad. Except for Kate Beckinsale.
 Looks a lot better than the original.
Yeah, the original was okay for the time but people remember it as being a lot better than it was. It's the kind of movie that can be a lot better with enhanced effects as long as it doesn't go overboard and stays true to the concept, which was the coolest aspect of the original.
Yep. The original was cheesy to the point where it was hard to even care about what the actual story was.

This (We Can Remember It For You Wholesale), Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep) and I Am Legend (one that doesn't have grey faced people in a hot rod or Will Smith as a Scientist....but instead focuses on an Every Mans struggle) should all be remade. The movies have all been dumbed down for the masses...while the books are all pretty good. ( I can't knock Blade Runner too much as I like it).

You'd need to do one with and one without narration and make sure the director contradicts the very intent of the movie to make it plausible.

Im concerned I would prefer Gosling handling the task of making deranged Arnold-like grunts when exposed to turrible space gas.

:goodposting: And "Do Androids..." isn't that great of a book. Probably one of ****'s worst.

There are places on the internet where you can read parts of the original manuscript.

When you read, try to forget the Schwarzenegger movie.
