Trade Value of Darren Sproles (1 Viewer)

With all the perceived uncertainty around LT these days, whether it's deserved or not, what's the going rate for Darren Sproles right now? What's he been dealt for in your leagues? I have him in one league and thought about making an offer for him in another.

Sproles is the real deal, and will be a potential stud for anyone in a ppr or return yard league. If you have him hold on to him, if you want to trade for him you probably should, just make sure you dont over buy him

So what's his value in combined PPR/return leagues?

Top 10...Top 5 if he stays healthy? Is he worth say Steve Smith (CAR) straight up?

In a PPR league, i would be much more scared to go up against a healthy sproles then a steve smith with a question mark for a qb. Bearing lt keeps his decline on pace, sproles will be a top 10 pick in next years fantasy draft.

I doubt Sproles will go that high unless maybe LT retires. While I prefer Sproles, is he that much better than Leon Washington?

I was actually shooting for actual trades that have gone down involving Sproles to see what kind of value he's being dealt for at this point.

I own LT and the smurf. Can't move LT for ANYTHING. And it would take McFadden or DeWillams or Fitzgerald for me to give away Sproles.

So based on the extreme values of each SD rb I will prolly keep both.

I traded Owens & Sproles of for Andre Johnson. PPR. I still feel like I have plenty of RB depth - Deangelo Williams, R. Bush, Rice, F. Jones.

I agree. Sproles is a nice player but where the heck does "Top 10 player" come from? He had a nice 80 yard reception, other than that not much. Yeah he had 7 receptions but there are a group of mid level backs that could accomplish that on any given week. I don't think the Chargers will ever make Sproles the focus of the offense, & if Tomlinson is gone next year would expect them to draft a replacement to RBBC with Sproles. No way in the world would I trade Steve Smith for Sproles.

This does seem extreme. In a dyntasty league, I would value Sproles high, but even then, not this high.In a redraft league, I would put Sproles below Reggie Bush or Cedric Benson. He has some residual value once Tomlinson comes back in, but not nearly enough to be talking about players who should have been drafted in the first 2 rounds.
I hope I'm wrong. But I feel LT will not have more value than rb3/4 ever again. Not a fantasy starter.

All depends on your league scoring. In PPR that counts return yardage would you feel the same?

I'm shocked to hear people lumping Sproles' value in with the likes of guys like DeAngelo Williams and calling him a top 10 back.

I own him in a dynasty league and I don't think I could hit the accept button fast enough if I were offered a top 10 back or a stud receiver for him. I like his potential if LT is out, but I don't see his upside as being anything better than what Warrick Dunn was in his prime. That's a good back, but this top 10 talk suprises the heck out of me. The Chargers have all but said they don't see him as a guy they can depend on to be the feature back for long stretches of time.

His value is a bit higher in a PPR league, but in a non-PPR league, I don't see him as anything but a decent flex play once LT comes back even if LT isn't at full strength.

Not many backs out there have the potential to be the receptions hog Sproles already is AND score TDs on any special teams play. Heck anywhere on the field at any time.LT can't do that anymore. This raises Sproles value even more. LT's presence will only help keep this already lethal weapon fresh.

that is correct. My valuation is based on 0.5ppr and 1/20point/ret yard.

And what about 1.0 ppr with 1.20 ret yard? Can Benson score from anywhere on the field at any given time? Can Bush anymore given his health status?

If you have Sproles and LT I'd probably hold onto Sproles as a handcuff. If I had Sproles and no LT I'd look to deal him as quickly as possible.

Norv Turner made an extremely telling quote a few days ago regarding Sproles usage when LT returns. I've posted it in this forum already in an LT discussion and everyone just ignored the comment which I don't really understand. Norv basically was defending using Sproles so much right now because he has no other choice and said that he knows he'll later be questioned as to why Sproles is not being used enough when LT returns. If you want to call this "coachspeak" that's your call but I don't see it as that.

Here is the quote from an article in the SD Tribune Review: “Over a long period of time that (would be) a concern,” Turner said of the 5-foot-6, 185-pound Sproles' heavy workload. “But I know how it's going to work. When LT comes back, it's going to be, 'How come Sproles isn't getting more (touches)?' We're in a situation where we need to do everything we can to be productive.”

In a redraft non PPR league where WRs and TEs are the same, I was offered to trade my Sproles and Tony Gonzalez for his Reggie Wayne and Leon Washington.

Wow, let me know if you pull that off. I was trying to offer Sproles to the LT owner at the beginning of the season, but he swears he doesn't need him. (denial). Was going to target Vincent Jackson but maybe I should go for more!

In his last 4 games, he has almost 1200 total yards and 4TDs. For those of us who are in leagues that give PPR and even a minor return yards (we are 3 points per 100) that is solid gold. #4 RB in our league right now, and very close to #1 if not for Chris Johnson's sillyness from last week.He will finish top 10 RB this year in that type of league barring injury. There is no doubt about it.

I'm the LT owner in a 12-team PPR, no return yardage league. The Sproles owner has been trying to trade him to me, but I have said no and rode McFadden/Mike Bell in week 2 (with Pierre Thomas and Chester Taylor on my bench).

Yesterday, the guy calls me to say he is dropping Sproles outright because he needs to make a waiver for a TE. Why he told me, I don't know. Maybe he felt sorry for me because I'm currently in last place and he is in 1st. Maybe he wanted to keep him off of another owner's roster.

Needless to say, I'm now an LT and Sproles owner.

Need to add, some owners are accusing us of "Collusion" but what am I supposed to do, ignore the info and let someone else grab him? :lmao:

in a ppr league where we also get special teams tds I was offered Sproles and Coles for Ochocinco. I took it

we start 2 rbs and 2 wrs with a flex. I am plugging Sproles into the flex spot for the foreseeable future.

I play in a 12 man 1pt PPR with 1pt for 20 return yds.

I got offered Steve Smith (CAR), Reggie Bush, and Benson for Sproles and Harvin.

As much as I like Sproles, I couldn't refuse this deal.

Exactly! As a Sproles owner solely, I tried to get LT. Since I had no success, I rattled the cage of a guy who was O-fer and took SJax and Crayton off his hands for DeSean Jax and Sproles. Might not play in my advantage this week, but long term I felt this was the right thing to do.

In my 10 team PPR/Returns(25 yd) re-draft I don't have LT but have/had Sprols.I just traded Sprols straight up for R Mos !We start 2-3 RBs and 3-4 WRs and now have :Fitz/AJ/Calvin and R Moss as my new flex!My RBs:Rice/McFadden/Felix/LJ/Leon/McCoy/PierreTE GonzoI figure with my stud TE and wrs I can plug in 2 RBs with good match ups each week
