Travis Henry sprained his knee. (MERGED THREAD) (2 Viewers)

Rotoworld - Travis Henry's MRI revealed no structural damage to his knee.

Henry only has a knee sprain, but that's usually a multiple-week injury. He's still worth monitoring closely. Mike Bell should start the Broncos' final two preseason games. Aug. 19 - 3:54 pm et

Edit to add, isn't Bell hurt (hip) also?

Monday morning -- should know results by the time we are about to leave work. this is good news actually though -- it must not be bothering him all that bad to be waiting untill Monday and to wait they must not be all that concerned. then again as a Henry owner in 2 leagues having just traded Westbrook for Him and R. Moss I am a little hopefull.
I would be hopful we know something by early p.m.? A lot of FF teams have a lot steaked to this guy.
Shanny - "Hey doc, you think you could speed this MRI up a little bit?"Doc - "No Mike, it'll be done when it's done."Shanny - "Well, hurry up if you can, some guy from Minnesota said something about a t-bone I really didn't get, but it sounds important."Doc - "Oh, why didn't you say it was urgent? I'll get that done on a rush"Shanny - "Do you think we could hold the press conference from your office? I mean, since you'll be in here and all - that would save us an hour or so."Doc - "Anything for the Gopher."

I thought Bell was also injured (strained left hip). Both could sit out both games.

No structural damage found in Henry's left knee

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Len Pasquarelli

ESPN.com

The Denver Broncos appear to have dodged a potentially serious setback, with a Sunday examination of starting tailback Travis Henry's left knee indicating no significant structural damage.

Henry left Saturday night's preseason game at Dallas in the second quarter with the knee injury. Coach Mike Shanahan said after the game that the early assessment was that Henry suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament, and a subsequent MRI exam verified that.

It is not known how long Henry, who is in his first season with the Broncos, will be sidelined. But the Broncos, who have had a different leading rusher in each of the past four seasons, and in five of the last six years, likely will err on the side of caution. The Broncos feel that Henry will register big numbers running behind a blocking scheme that really fits his skills-set well.

In two preseason games, playing sparingly, Henry has carried 15 times for 52 yards, and has demonstrated his ability to adapt to the zone-blocking system that Denver has employed for years. Henry is a one-cut runner and, with more latitude in choosing his holes, some feel he will post a career-best year in 2007.

His current career best came in 2002, when he rushed for 1,438 yards while playing for the Buffalo Bills.

Henry, 28, signed a five-year contract with the Broncos in early March, just days after the Tennessee Titans released him for salary cap considerations and to avoid paying him an $8.3 million roster bonus. The deal in Denver included $12 million in guarantees.

At the time of the signing, it was widely believed that Henry would become the latest beneficiary of a running game design that systematically churns out 1,000-yard rushers. That belief was only fortified in minicamps and training camp.

During the 12-year stewardship of Shanahan, the Broncos ranked in the top 10 in rushing offense leaguewide in all but one season. That includes rating in the top five on nine occasions. The Broncos were eighth in the NFL in rushing offense in 2006, their lowest finish since 2001.

Henry resurrected his career in 2006 by winning the Titans' starting tailback job early in the season, then posting his third 1,000-yard rushing year. He carried 270 times for 1,211 yards and seven touchdowns in 2006, and notched six 100-yard outings.

The former University of Tennessee standout spent the first four years of his career with the Bills before being traded to the Titans in 2005.

In 78 games, including 62 starts, Henry has carried 1,321 times for 5,395 yards and 34 touchdowns. He also has 134 receptions for 886 yards and two scores.

lol oh i am going to sooooo make sure everyone at the draft knows he sprained his knee last night and plead ignorance on this. I draft in 2 hrs 45 minutes, so thanks for the timely info. Im glad hes sitting the final two preseason games. So why isnt Cecil Sapp starting?"

Any Travis Henry own who did not draft M Bell in a reasonable round is an idoit...

Time to sell high M Bell owners
Ironic.
 And, the original post is pretty asinine even excusing the misspelling.
OMG... so ####ing sorry I put the o before the i... and how is it asinine not to draft Bell at a reasonable $$ given Henry's injury history. This thread has little to offer... I'll wait for the 8th T Henry thread to come out... that one might have some insight.
here is the link to Henry's career atats at NFL.comhttp://www.nfl.com/players/travishenry/car...ts?id=HEN669935

2001 13 of 16 games

2002 16 of 16 games

2003 15 of 16 games

2004 10 of 16 games- last year in Buffalo not clear starteer (Bills fan can chime in)

2005 10 of 16 games- 1st Tenn year not clear starter and 4 games missed for drug issues

2006 14 of 16 games

So in the 4 years Henry has been the clear number 1 RB, he has missed 3,0, 1, and 2 games. Since a greater perecentage of backs in a given year do miss time versus don't, it does not seem to me that Henry represents an above average injury risk.

At our draft earlier today, he was taken 14th overall.

The 2 games last year, I don't think he played because of the coach. Not positive, but I am sure one of the FFGs knows this for sure.

Henry seems like one of those guys that just can't catch a break unless it's a broken leg. I hope this isn't serious. I always avoid this guy in drafts but I cheer for him on Sundays. He seems like a good guy and a hard worker.
Seriously? Rape down?
The Bill’s Travis Henry was sentenced to 100 hours of community service for sexual misconduct with a 15-year-old girl.
Who did he rape?
Its called statutory rape
No, it's called statutory rape. The girl consented. Ergo, she wasn't raped.
For the record, minors can not consent.
Travis: Will you have sex with me?Minor: Yes.

It's not that complicated.
:blackdot:
It's called a legal fiction. Emphasis on the fiction.

it's quite amusing that someone would defend a guy who had sex with a 15 year old REGARDLESS of whaat you call it . . .

Don't be so quick to judge.. the girl could've lied to him and said she was 18/19 when he was a 23/24 y.o.

Yeah, but he could have stopped her from removing her clothes and asked for ID, making sure she was of age before anything happened.
That's generally what I do when I'm about to get some. ID, resume, and references.

I did not like that fumble deep in Denvers zone, he was hardly touched and he coughed up the ball. Henry does that in the regular season and Mike Bell could be in for the rest of the game.

Good point. If all the references are from JV cheer, you should probably think twice. GDB people not answering their phones when needed though :goodposting:

I thought I read/heard earlier that Henry has not fumbled in something like a year and a half in the regular season...maybe I'm making my own hype up...I thought I heard someone say that though.

its not rape if she wanted ittheres a huge differencehaving sex with her really doesn't hurt anyone in the long run.
not sure how that'll hold up in a court of law
it wouldn't.I admit that he was dumb for what he did.I was just expressing my opinion on the law.It is ethically wrong, but I dont believe in ethics, they are simply a result of people basing their opinions off of what others think. I believe in critical thinking. In this case I dont see how any harm is done to anyone so it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

This is probably true. Word around the locker room in Tennessee was that Henry is hung like an elevator button.

Mike Shanahan is one of the more honest coaches in the league. Mike Shanahan does not play games with his injury report. Mike Shanahan is not deliberately deceptive. This is a myth. Historical data bears me out. This myth entirely stems from the 2001 season where Terrell Davis's status was uncertain from week to week
What about the Portis fiasco of 2003? I drafted Portis 4th that year in WCOFF and due to the short 11 week WCOFF season this fiasco killed me. Let me recap and add we had to have our lineups submitted by noon CST. Not sure of the exact injury but I think Portis suffered a bruised chest or bruised sternum in week 2. He was questionable right up until game time for week 3. I started him and he played sparingly and produced very little. Week 4 he was questionable right up until game time, I started him and he DNP. Week 4 I had enough so I left him on my bench and he put up a monster game. The only time I can think of were a guy I drafted puts up 1800 yards and 14 TD's in 15 games but for all intents and purposes he was a bust for me.
Questionable = 50% chance to play. In other words, half the time a guy is on the report as "questionable", he shouldn't play... and the other half the time, he should. That's the definition of QUESTIONABLE. Questionable means Shanahan doesn't know whether he'll go or not, and in this situation, sometimes Portis went, and sometimes he didn't. This sounds like a perfect example of what "questionable" means. If someone is LIKELY to start, then that's not questionable, that's probable. If someone is likely to sit, that's not questionable, that's doubtful. If the coach doesn't know yet whether someone will start or whether they will sit, then that's what questionable is. This example says more about your understanding of injury reports than it does about how deceptive Mike Shanahan is. I mean, seriously, that sucks that you had such bad luck in those weeks, but how would you have LIKED Shanny to have marked Portis on the injury reports? Should he have created a whole new category titled "We don't know whether Portis will go or not. He might, he might not. Still, we didn't want to list him as questionable because we wanted to make it perfectly clear that Clinton Portis MIGHT go, but then again, he MIGHT NOT go."?When a player marked as "questionable" plays in 2 games and misses 1, and this is referred to as a FIASCO, that's probably a good sign that you're setting the bar for honesty among coaches. That is as close to a 50% rate as you can possibly get in a 3-game sample size.
