Tre Mason (1 Viewer)

Tre needs the Rams to get rid of Schotty more than he needs them to get rid of Fisher.

He probably needs them to find a real quarterback more than getting rid of either of those two.

So what are we thinking about Mason? Top 50 start up pick next year? Or are we worried a new staff comes in and looks for their own guy? Has his pass blocking improved?
New staff?

I can't see Fischer getting fired. Rams don't have a great record, but lost their starting QB and have some big wins.
Agreed. I can't see Fisher being sacked. He's building a pretty solid defense, and not his fault that his franchise QB and up-and-coming #1 WR in Quick went down with season-ending injuries.
The problem with Fisher and his staff, though, is that they have been horrid at halftime adjustments. More than once they've gone into halftime with a decent lead (or at least in the realm of being competitive) and then they come out to crap the bed in the second half. And it's happened over and over. San Fran, Dallas, Arizona, Seattle (even though they ended up winning that one), it's a trend. So unless Fisher can go into Snead's office and pinpoint what has caused this and what will be changed to keep it from happening next year, he has to be accountable on at least some level. The blame for repetitive halftime failures has to fall somewhere, and Fisher seems to be a decent place for it.

I don't follow the Rams that closely. I was more asking. So the real question is, who is their quarterback next year? They seem to be too good to get Mariota, would they grab Winston? Or should they?

Unfortunately, not in my line-up and won't be for the playoffs. Picked him up as insurance and will probably be one of my 2 keepers for next year ... hopefully he will be the focal point on the offence next year and not fizzle out like Stacy (which I doubt).

:towelwave:
Yeah, I agree. Still not sold on the guy. Definitely a great game, but unfortunately they can't play Oakland every week. I'd like to keep him as well, but I'm concerned it will be like ZS all over again.
because you think the guys are similar in ability, or they're 2 random guys on the same team?

Because I don't trust the Rams organization to make reasonable decisions that harness his abilities for the maximum long-term impact.

They went away from "The Plod" that was Mr. 3.9ypc Stacy, and moved on to Mr 4.6ypc Tre LA Soul.

The Rams know what was up.

Some here just refuse(d) to acknowledge it.

Nah. Dubious Mason owner.

Back to his value next year...Assuming he rides out the year producing nicely and doesn't take a nosedive. Is he a legit 3rd rd choice in 2015? Higher?

@ wash: i am going to start him

@ home vs. ariz: this is a brutal tough decision for me here, love the fact that hes home but arizona has been tough

@ home vs giants: likley starting, giants might have very little left to play for...

Toby Gerhart was #36 last season in re-draft standard, RB17, having shown substantially less than Mason already has. Literally drafted upon college pedigree and 3-down "potential" in...Jax. No that the STL offense is a world beater, but Mason is getting ample sample size to show what he's got with a large workload, and he's showing it. I'd say if this keeps up through the 2014 FF playoffs, he doesn't make it out of the late 2nd/early 3rd in re-draft standard.

How many Bellcow RBs that avg 4.6ypc w an elite o-line do you expect to get beyond mid 2nd round?

2015 draft held today, how do we order these guys?

Herron (assuming he's projected to get 50% of Colts' snaps)

Mason (assuming Cunningham/others threaten GL & 3rds)

L Murray (assuming he's assumes a Mason-like role with the Raiders)

Herron

He's not gonna be available in the last half of Rd 2 next year without an injury or a high RB draft pick by StL.
Geez, top 18 pick already? Think that's a bit of an overreaction. He looked great yesterday but it was Oakland who clearly didn't come to play a game. Andre Ellington was super hyped up this year and still was available in the 3rd rds of drafts...He probably had more success then Mason as well

bellcow

the hardest RB schedule I can think of this season

Old man SJax ran pretty well against Arizona, so I wouldn't shy away on matchup alone. Plus, the Cards' offensive woes are keeping the defense on the field a lot, which could lead to more work for Mason.

Mason reminds me of Emmit Smith for some reason.
Still dont know who he reminds me of, but he's a battering ram w mind blowing in game speed

rare combo
Didn't he run a slow 40 at the combine? He sure looked fast on that screen and the 87 yard run!
40 times dont mean much to me... I wanna see game speed. In pad speed.

And yesterday showed me he's got it. In spades

He will get hyped hard if he keeps this pace up. No one will be afraid of Cunningham or Stacy. Maybe top half of second is a stretch but he will be a top12 RB pick.

yeah, people say 'it was oakland, it was oakland' --- but 'it was oakland' might've actually hurt him by holding him to only 14 carries.

here's a few other rb --- who did they play in this game?

charles - 19/80/0

matthews - 16/70/0

hillman + anderson - 19/103/0

ellington - 24/88/0

ridley + vereen - 26/74/0

foster - 28/138/1

it was oakland

From an athletic standpoint it's not really his straight line speed that's super impressive, it's his short area explosion and quickness. Him and Stacy are the same height and essentially ran the same 40 yard (4.5) but Mason is 15-20 lbs. lighter and and a ton more agile, it shows as he weaves through the holes.

IMO he's like a shiftier, slightly less powerful (lighter) Marion Barber.

Lets not lose sight of the fact he did that vs a Raiders team that has given up
Nope.

Yes. The same team that just beat the Chiefs last week.

I am not as chest pounding as Soulfly, but the fact that people can't watch him play and see he is a few notches better in talent than anything else they have on the roster in St Louis is mind boggling.

Every time he has gotten a chance, he has performed. limited touches, medium, and yesterday, he excelled as a feature runner

I snagged him at the 2.1 in a few dynasties, him dropping that far in this talent rich draft was a godsend.

It's the very definition of drafting talent over situation. Mason has talent. A lot of people missed it.

Very impressed with Mason so far....his schedule has been brutal but he's faired pretty well. He finally got a great matchup and hit the ball out of the park. Definitely targeting this guy next year.

If you've been watching him you know that hes been so close to breaking that big one. Doesn't show up in the stats but the last few weeks he's been just tripped up at the last possible chance the D had at preventing a huge run.

Really have enjoyed watching him play his way into a keeper slot on my dynasty.

He was the 15th rookie selected in my startup....the 6th running back! Situation matters, but talent matters much much more.

Dont get me wrong...i own Mason...i was a stacy owner arguing that stacy was the guy to own...i was wrong...Mason is an exciting talent...i just think the Raiders have laid down ...especially after the win in KC...they wont win another game this year...but that doesnt mean Mason isnt the real deal...he looked awesome

I thought Stacy would hang on longer too. Liked his vision a lot. Shocked he isn't in a committee this year.

I don't think he's nearly as bad as everyone imagines, he's a solid grinder. I just think Mason is that much better.

Unfortunately, not in my line-up and won't be for the playoffs. Picked him up as insurance and will probably be one of my 2 keepers for next year ... hopefully he will be the focal point on the offence next year and not fizzle out like Stacy (which I doubt).

That's okay. The buying window has long since closed.
No, I own him. Just not sure he's worthy of starting yet. Also trying to decide if he's worth keeping over Anderson next year. It will be interesting to see what happens to the St. Louis offense in the off-season.

no one is a greater moth to flame. soulfly is the equivilent of fbg's head cheerleader.

i still think he is rn.
I make these calls BEFORE they happen I dont ride bandwagons, I create them
Settle down dude. Anyone who plays dynasty does. I could be wrong, but I had him ranked #1 RB coming out. I had the 1.10 pick in both of my dynasties. Got him in one. He went @ 1.04 in the other.

Even if we redid the draft right this minute 1.4 is reaching for Mason

I know it's never a popular idea, but let's amuse ourselves and say that 80+ yard TD got erased by a penalty. Now look at his day.

I can't see a lot of field length runs (for any RB) where nobody even touches the guy.

You might be forgetting his other 2TDs that day

He still took a screen pass for 35 yards in the first 3 minutes of the contest, where the de had a hand on him, an angle, and mason was able to accelerate to the sideline going east west, and still fast enough to get the td.
