Where would Tre Mason rank in this year's draft? The only RB substantially younger than him in the draft is Gurley.

Depends on where they go in the draft and the league if you are including the receivers. For just backs, I'd rather have Gurley, possibly Gordon. Maybe another guy or two in the right spot. We know he can play in the NFL, which gives him a leg up on some of rooks who grade out comparably otherwise.

Hey I like Mason, I was just answering the question of what people might be looking for in a rookie over him. Sucks he comes off the field on 3rd downs, because that does make some rookie RBs potentially more valuable (even if less fun to watch).

No. Gurley has an injury history and as someone else said, Mason is cheap.

Zac Stacy redux from a trade standpoint. In deep dynasties I would have been a buyer of Stacy (and would have lost so far) and would be a buyer of Mason now too. They're not bad backs to sock away considering they'll cost so little.

It can mean almost anything. You can read it as an indictment of Mason if you'd like. Personally, I think Mason had a pretty good statistical year in 2014 and looked solid in the process. I kinda doubt that the Rams had RB identified as their top need. Most likely a combination of "Well, we could use a RB and WOW this guy is good" with Gurley.

Often times when a team makes a pick, it's not because they have a huge need at the position but rather because they have that specific player rated far higher than anyone left on the board. If you believe the reports that some teams had Gurley graded as the top player in the whole draft then you can see how they might have been tempted to grab him at #10. Reminds me a bit of the Jonathan Stewart pick from 2008, which was only two years on the heels of Carolina taking DeAngelo Williams 27th overall.

I agree with EBF. It was like the Vikings with Peterson, yes we have a decent back with Taylor, but this player could be the best back in the league for years to come.
