Tre Mason (4 Viewers)

Where would Tre Mason rank in this year's draft? The only RB substantially younger than him in the draft is Gurley.
Depends on where they go in the draft and the league if you are including the receivers. For just backs, I'd rather have Gurley, possibly Gordon. Maybe another guy or two in the right spot. We know he can play in the NFL, which gives him a leg up on some of rooks who grade out comparably otherwise.

mason is better than everyone not named gurley in this draft at runner. yes even gordon. mason tore up the sec and proved that he can play in the nfl and is only 22 years old.

what are people hoping to get in the draft that he doesnt provide?

some knuckleheads round these parts
Hey I like Mason, I was just answering the question of what people might be looking for in a rookie over him. Sucks he comes off the field on 3rd downs, because that does make some rookie RBs potentially more valuable (even if less fun to watch).

Uh oh! S#@t just got real!

DEVON! Get the tables!!

Only thing dynasty owners can hope for is to convince the Gurley owner in your league that he needs Mason as a handcuff
Or Mason to get traded.
As a Mason owner I could only hope, but what could they get for him a 3rd or maybe 4th? I would think he would have more value to the Rams as a cheap back up.
At least there's no rush to push Gurley. Maybe he gets PUP'ed to start the season.

Didn't see that coming. I'm gonna see what his market price is like after this and think about sending out some offers if owners are selling cheap. I like him as a player and he's really young. Could have some utility in STL or elsewhere.

I just offered 3.04 for him in one league and was declined.

Shouldve kept SJAX?

Since he left, high draft picks have been spent on:

Pead

Stacy

Mason

Gurley
SJax is toast though. Pead was a clear miss, but you can't really fault the other picks. Gurley is still a ? because we don't know what he'll do, but the other guys look like good value where they were taken. Jeff Fisher loves to run the ball and most people say you need more than one good back these days, so...

Zac Stacy redux from a trade standpoint. In deep dynasties I would have been a buyer of Stacy (and would have lost so far) and would be a buyer of Mason now too. They're not bad backs to sock away considering they'll cost so little.

You take one in the top 10 in a deep class?

Fudge. Good player Gurley, but bad use of resources STL. You had plenty of other holes like WR with a stud still on the board.

It can mean almost anything. You can read it as an indictment of Mason if you'd like. Personally, I think Mason had a pretty good statistical year in 2014 and looked solid in the process. I kinda doubt that the Rams had RB identified as their top need. Most likely a combination of "Well, we could use a RB and WOW this guy is good" with Gurley.

Often times when a team makes a pick, it's not because they have a huge need at the position but rather because they have that specific player rated far higher than anyone left on the board. If you believe the reports that some teams had Gurley graded as the top player in the whole draft then you can see how they might have been tempted to grab him at #10. Reminds me a bit of the Jonathan Stewart pick from 2008, which was only two years on the heels of Carolina taking DeAngelo Williams 27th overall.

I agree with EBF. It was like the Vikings with Peterson, yes we have a decent back with Taylor, but this player could be the best back in the league for years to come.

Feels a lot more like gambling on McGahee when you had Travis Henry than a Peterson/Taylor comparison IMO.
