I'm not worried at all. He's a must-start if healthy, with no regrets.
His numbers on touches 20+ are horrendous and his play has matched it recently, I hope it's a combination of the knee and rib injuries mixed in with a lost preseason because this is not the same runner I saw weeks 2-9 sans the games missed due to the rib issue. I'll actually be happy to see him miss practice time this week, at least it would offer an excuse for his struggles.I'm pretty sure the Browns will clean house after this season regardless. Maybe the better question is if Richardson is more effective with 15-18 touches a game vs workhorse role.'PlasmaDogPlasma said:Shurmur needs wins. the reason for his struggles are that everyone knows the offense is running through him, they don't have a great line, have a below average QB, below average wr's and overall the youngest team in the league. Incorrect, his actual running has suffered the last 2 weeks. He's not cutting and driving, he's dancing. It used to take 2, 3, 4 guys to bring him down now he goes down on first contact and very weakly at that, towards the end of the game especially. There are problems around him, there's no denying that, but isolating his play he has played poorly the last 2 weeks too.'Banger said:the reason for his struggles are that everyone knows the offense is running through him, they don't have a great line, have a below average QB, below average wr's and overall the youngest team in the league. Sounds like Adrian Peterson's situation, except the production is obviously much different. Possibly.Absolutely a possibility, the injuries and missed preseason I'm sure are not helping. Yeah I don't get this.worried? I'm ecstatic.
I hate to admit it, but I have to agree. He is not running with the same power and intensity that he showed in early-season. The past few weeks he's looked slow, and I hate to say it, he looked like a damn bum. My fantasy hopes and dreams are riding on this guy. I sure hope he can pull it together this week against the Raiders. Lets go T-RICH!!'MAC_32 said:His numbers on touches 20+ are horrendous and his play has matched it recently, I hope it's a combination of the knee and rib injuries mixed in with a lost preseason because this is not the same runner I saw weeks 2-9 sans the games missed due to the rib issue. hopefully gramps can suit up at QB this week. he can at least stretch the field. With McCoy Oakland may as well play 14 in the box.170 total yards and 2 TDs.Hopefully he destroys Oakland.

"Plan B" like you're going to scrape toegether someone to start in his place? Or "Plan B" you think he's going to miss time? Yeah - he might be a little gassed or a little dinged up, but I'll take the virtual lock for 100+ total yards and more often than not a score."Plan B" like you're going to scrape toegether someone to start in his place? The former, claims are in for Knowshon and Bryce in two of them, in the other I need an injury because it's a dyno and there's nothing on waivers. I hope he bounces back the next two weeks so all those claims will be are insurance policies, but we'll see. I don't really look to bench RBs who get 25+ touches a game no matter who they play. Not my point. People are fine with him right now because he's been scoring, but you don't get points this week for what he did last week. He's not run well the last two weeks and gotten by on volume because we were playing with a lead. Do you expect the Browns to be protecting a lead vs. Washington? Denver? Because when the Browns fall behind Shurmur abandons the run without hesitation.

What I was concerned about and what I think MAC is also picking up on, is that over this stretch you quoted, Richardson has averaged 26.5 carries and 4 receptions a game. If he keeps up this pace, you are looking at almost 350 carries and 60 receptions on the season. That is a LOT of work for a rookie. The common refrain for those who cannot reinforce their argument. You don't watch anymore of the Browns than the rest of us and you don't have any more specific knowledge than the rest of us.Richardson is averaging 3.8 ypc over his last four games which is a significant improvement over his first seven games where he averaged 3.37 ypc. 3.8 ypc is below average by any standard and 3.37 is downright awful but no matter how you try to color it he is getting better, not worse.I can understand why a dynasty owner would be worried about his workload for a losing team but for this season any and every owner would be a fool not to start him every single week.Watch the games and you will know what I a talking about, look at the box score and you won't.'Chaka said:Which one are you hoping he bounces back from?134 yards & 1 TD136 yards144 yardsor 112 yards & 1 TD'MAC_32 said:The former, claims are in for Knowshon and Bryce in two of them, in the other I need an injury because it's a dyno and there's nothing on waivers. Coming to conclusions based on raw data alone is a common mistake made by many fantasy owners. LT in his rookie year ran the ball 339 times and had 59 receptions for 398 touches and he had a 3.6 ypc and 10 tds. TRich in his rookie year is on pace for 304 carries adn 60 receptions for 364 touches and 10 tds and he has a 3.6 ypc. A lot of similarities in situations between the 2. I'm talking about HOW he's running, it has nothing to do with the opposition, it has everything to do with physically what he is doing. Himself. Obviously it has nothing to do with his actual numbers, he's put those up despite lackluster play. If he's on his September game I expect him to go for 22-25/120-150 the next two weeks, but if he runs (not produces) like the last two weeks I expect it to be closer to 70-90 yards and worries mount up with much tougher defenses waiting weeks 15 and 16.Sure he looked a little better vs the Chargers and Ravens than against the Cowboys and Steelers, then again he looked much better during the last two weeks than the first seven. So where does the truth lie?Considering how much more the Browns have been willing to use him over the last four games, as compared to the first seven games, it's a fair bet that they think he looks stronger now than earlier in the year. He has become the entire Browns offense, every team that plays them knows it and he still manages to be more productive now than during the first seven games.I can understand being worried about his huge workload as a dynasty owner but for this season you're off on this one Mac.Coming to conclusions based on raw data alone is a common mistake made by many fantasy owners. But you're missing his point! It's not how he produces, it's how he looks! So its best to look to options that look better like Knowshown Moreno (career bust, backup, almost cut, definition of pedestrian NFL RB), ya know, just in case Richardson doesn't start to look better.Yes, I'd say that MAC is off on this one.Sure he looked a little better vs the Chargers and Ravens than against the Cowboys and Steelers, then again he looked much better during the last two weeks than the first seven. I hope he bounces back the next two weeks so all those claims will be are insurance policies, but we'll see. More performances like the last two and I'm not starting him vs. a tough Washington run defense or a possible blowout in Denver.
On the field. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but based on your posts I don't think you've watched much of the Browns this year. Below is a summary on Trent's season. He had a poor week 1. He hadn't gotten the preseason reps due to the knee op, he ran ineffectively and inefficiently, often guilty of running high. It was obvious watching the game he wasn't ready, but Shurmur force fed him touches anyway. He watched the tape and made adjustments to his game.He looked like a special back vs. Cincinnati, adjustments made, running lower, driving through tacklers, forcing 2-3-4 guys to bring him down. Then regressed vs. Buffalo, he was the one that said post game the Browns were looking past them in anticipation of the primetime game Thursday vs. Baltimore. No excuse for not showing up, but there's a reason for his poor performance. He balled vs. Baltimore and New York. Stats weren't there vs. Baltimore and I put that on the o line more than anything, but he had some strong carries throughout the game. Then he got hurt vs. Cincinnati and tried to play through it, ineffectively. Can't put too much stock in those stats.More of the same vs. Indy the following week before getting benched. Stats were even worse, deflating the 7 game sample you're using. His ribs healed up and he looked like that top 5 pick again vs. San Diego and Baltimore, but he wore down towards the end of both games. I'd be surprised if the stats don't support it, it was evident on the field though.I thought the bye week would help get him ready for the stretch run, but he has looked like the 4th quarter version of San Diego and Baltimore throughout each of the last two games. His stats using your criteria lie because you're looking at the first 7 games vs. the last 4, not the details. The problem is in that 7 game sample is a game he was not ready for and two he tried to play hurt, 40+ stat killing carries. The problem in the recent 4 game sample is his stats are inflated due to quarters 1-3 vs. San Diego and Baltimore. He didn't finish either game well and has carried that over to the recent two games. 2 strong games finished poorly followed up by 2 generally weak performances throughout? It's a trend. Strong start to the season (sans week 1), got hurt, tried to play through it, failed, got some rest, had a brief return to prominence, but struggled towards the end of games, and now has had two mediocre-volume performances in a row. If the trend continues you're looking at an injury, reduced touches, or continued ineffectiveness. Where's the reasoning he bounces back? Sure, it's possible. We don't know if there's something going on off the field that's effecting his performance, all we can go on is what we see on the field and recently that is trending downwards. All I suggested was get a backup plan in place in case the ineffectiveness continues and he regresses more over the next 2 weeks. Given the opponents you can probably get by, but when the competition stiffens up he'll need to be on his A game and that's not been the case since the 3rd quarter of a game 3 1/2 weeks ago.Sure he looked a little better vs the Chargers and Ravens than against the Cowboys and Steelers, then again he looked much better during the last two weeks than the first seven. So where does the truth lie?
I'm in two dynasty's and four redrafts/keepers. He's on both dynasty rosters and 2 of my redraft/keepers, the only reason he is not on all of my rosters is the timing of his knee surgery pushed me towards drafting Forte and Sproles instead. He hasn't gone anywhere in any of those leagues and he isn't. I am playing for a title in 3 of the 4 and am worried I'll be at a disadvantage vs. my opponent because of him. Created backup plans in 2 of them (Bryce Brown in both - Moreno didn't make it), but in the dyno I don't so my fingers are crossed.Sounds like Mac is just trying to convince himself that he made a good decision by trading him away.
We'll see how the Sunday Night game goes, but I'm not ruling out using Brown. McCoy's concussion and the Eagles season being sunk gives them a reason to keep him rested and see what they have in the rookie.MAC - I understand what you are saying. However, given the challenges at the RB position, who would you anticipate starting ahead of Richardson for the rest of the year?
I think you're being hyper critical maybe because you are a Browns fan and own him in so many leagues. He's been terrific....he's currently ranked 8th in my standard league, 3 pts from 5th among RBs and that's coming off no training camp and surgery and an injury during the season. He's 1 ppg below Rice on the season. Guys ebb and flow throughout the season based on health, gameplan, execution, luck, health of teammates, etc.. You have to look at the body of work overall and how he's being utilized...Bryce Brown? Moreno? they aren't in the same stratosphere. FBG's has him ranked as the 4th RB on the top 250 going forward...if he's the problem/concern on your team you are sitting REALLY pretty.I'm in two dynasty's and four redrafts/keepers. Agreed. All you can ask for is opportunities and Richardson gets more than most.I'm kind of short on time right now and can't read through all the back and forth that's been going on RE: How Richardson has looked now compared to earlier in the season. Bottom line for me is...He is given enough touches and does enough to produce very nice numbers in my PPR league. Over 20 points the last 4 games and ranked 5th RB.As long as he does not take an injury, he starts every week without worry from me....and I hope to continue to benefit from what turned out to be a great draft pick..
In his past 5 games, he hasn't recorded less than 16.6 points in my league. Bottom line is that I don't care how he looks -- he's getting 25-30 touches per game and he's talented enough to produce fantasy points.Unless something changes next week or Shady comes back, starting Bryce over Rich week 15. Reserving opinion on Knowshon until I watch Thursday night. Volume is a big part of our game, but it isn't everything. Richardson was very ordinary again this week. Going down on first contact, no explosion in his cuts, too much dancing - more of the same. Concerned.
what do you expect? guys dont always have 6 ypc. he plays on a pretty bad team where defenses are game planning against him and he is still getting yards and tds. i've watched him play and his bust is still there. just stop.Unless something changes next week or Shady comes back, starting Bryce over Rich week 15.
