Amazing how bad this is as a sequel of sorts. Possibly destroyed the franchise, or at least put it at huge risk.

Is the popular press as harsh on the show as we are?
Franchise is at no risk. Get out of your bubble
Will be interesting to see if they pull 3-4 big name actors again. Any Grammy noms here?
No the theme song sucks.
Yes

I'm only two episodes in but would like to follow along with this trainwreck. Can GPJ please link to the start of each week's discussion in the first post please? TIA will answer yours.
If only it turned out that the show were on the same night and time each week, like Sunday nights, so you could figure out which discussion went along with which episode.

Another show runner, director, or editor complaint. Why does VV smashing the glass on Blake need to be in slo-mo? Then you cut immediately to the Barksdalr murder and then we cut back to VV and Blake with some really bad music that they can't figure out what volume it should be on plus VV's limp hand around Blake's whiny throat.

Seems like Caspere was killed by "Leonard", the kid in the picture, with an assist from Laura, the other kid in the picture who was Caspere's asst.
the boy in the pic would have to be about early 30's right now. I can't remember having seen anyone around 30 that might fit the description. I think it would be a cool twist if it was someone we've seen already though...from the opening song lyrics, "I hide among you, well disguised."
We've seen him I think.

He appeared in episode three. The photographer they interviewed on the movie set, where they conveniently run into the sister as well.

That would be my guess if I had to make a guess. Or the guy on the lawnmower.

Nice

At what point does any detective become such hot #### that heads of all law enforcement and the mayor is kissing his ### and is the center point of every meeting?

This alcoholic mess isn't batman.
The mayor is basically a mob boss with a title. Colin Farrell is a lead henchman.
That crew that just had him in the office were all "straight" cops but the mayor though right?
HINT: they're all dirty

Ok wtf was that black guy?
Oh, come on  I know there's been a lot of confusion. But how many black guys are there in the show?
dude says I heard youve been looking for me. He was on the show before?
Yea he's the Vinci police chief and had been in many scenes. Now, I didn't know his name, nor did I think they were "looking" for him at all though.
Wasn't he also at the orgy JUST LAST ####### WEEK?
he mustve had some memorable scenes because I dont remember him at all.
He was in many episodes and did not look that different without his uniform. If you think all the black guys on the show looks the same then you're right because it is all the same guy.

That was the moment I deleted it. Vaughn was horribly miscast but at least it was comical for a while. It really became too absurd to endure anymore.

I was eating an apple trying to make bites around the little produce sticker with the number on it. I got distracted from reading posts, looked down and the sticker was gone. Am I going to die?
Who the #### doesn't take the sticker off an apple before they start eating it?

You stuck it out for 6.5 hours but decided a use of slow motion you didn't agree with was the point where it became too much?

Previews look like the real horny cop chick is in a shootout at LAX.....so how do her and Velcro get from cabin to LAX to stop Franks plane ???
The Law of True Detective Thread #1: No matter how bad the show is, this thread is five times worse.
Don't you post the most in this thread?
I'm not the problem.
hmmmmmmm
How did I fall off your enemies list?

Haven't been mean to the Twins or Wolves lately, I guess. I can guess what happens next. I'll just re-add you now.

That scene was the last straw for me. I kept hoping for some kind of payoff, and figured well, I stuck it out this long...Before that scene, the one where Valcoro and McAdams almost hook up, she blames the drugs and he shrugs and says you're out of my league anyway? I don't know, I think I could write a better show.

Do any of these people seem like believable human beings, like at all?

Rewatched Ep2 with the wife last night. When Velcoro gets shot in Caspere's sex house, there's a row of animal masks hanging on the wall with one missing (just a dummy head there).

Clearly rubber bullet shotty guy took the crow mask off of the wall for funsies/disguise. So, The Crow Cult Truthers are likely way off. As if we didn't already know that.

Not sure what point you are trying to make, but the bird mask was in the car when we first see Caspere's body in episode 1.

I was going to send a PM about Kirby Puckett and some very serious legal/moral accusations, but yeah if you could just save me the time and put me back on there.

It would have been more surprising that season 2 was good then not.

Whole new show. New cast. Everyone was shocked that even Better Call Saul was good. That wasn't even a new cast. And it was V. Gilligan.

You can reinvent the wheel each season with a new cast and new storyline. Too hard. Especially when given 12 months or less to come up with a new idea.

My point crow/raven mask was clearly taken off of the wall from caspere's humpshack.

... and therefore there's no "crow cult" behind the killing.

it's as silly as it's supposed to be, and that's OK.The song, and The Brink, still suck big time.
do other people hate The Brink this much?

not sure what was expected. seems ok to me.
Heard bad things so hadn't checked it out until this weekend. Flew through the first 3 episodes as I found it very *entertaining*.
Guess I'm the dummy. It's just brutally unfunny to me. I'm surprised to see it so widely appreciated, but good for it and all of you :hifive: :hifive: :hifive:

Other than the wife who is the main reason this show has not performed, imo. the second most needlessly complicated thing was involving multiple police agencies.

Dozens of shows have worked the angle of corrupt connected cop in a PD connected with other higher up city people and made it work. Having 3 different police agencies and none of them FBI working a case like this on an 8 episode run was far too many people to keep track of.

I still don't know why the story would have been worse had they just worked everything out of Vinci PD with everyone in the chain of command coming from Vinci PD with maybe, maybe some light FBI involvement.

I mean you know, sort of like the Wire? I mean that show made that side work.
