Trump's Cabinet and Advisors (1 Viewer)

"It is not my intention to do anything that will benefit any American."

Oh, Ben Carson.  Never change.  We need your hilarious and relatively harmless gaffes now more than ever.

I don't agree with this and I fully expect Rubio to vote for him. I'm a Rubio fan and loved what he did yesterday, even though it was a bit of grandstanding, but I came away with respect for the way Tilleson handled himself during the exchanges and I'd imagine Rubio did too. I didn't expect Tilleson to say that Putin is a war criminal in that situation.

I will lose respect for Rubio if he doesn't vote for Tilleson.
Rubio didnt' forget the Primary....and while I think he'll tow the line and vote with his Party, I think he's sending up a flare that he's willing to be opposition if things go awry with the Trump agenda.

So a general query for all you smarter than me.  We have the Trump Russia thing going on....people are absolutely consumed by this to the literal neglect of the cabinet coverage and things being said.  Every single time I've tried to turn on some of the cabinet coverage, they are talking about Russia :wall:

The media is a laughing stalk at this point and so are the Trump opponents.  The Trump opponents have effectively turned themselves into what they despised in the GOP and all the "scandal" shtick...chasing things that may or may not be true instead of taking the low hanging (and oddly enough significantly more damaging to the general populace) right in front of them with these appointments.

Seriously people....can't make this #### up!!!!!!!

:lmao:   Good question....simply, WTF is going on with this country?  It appears that we've lost it as a collective and are in the worst "look....squirrel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" rut I can ever remember.  How the hell do we get out of this crap and get people focused on what really matters?

I expressed my frustration about this yesterday and all through the campaign. And I've been thinking about it.

The media gets focused on a single issue (in this case Russia) and they talk it to death and ignore all other issues. They do this constantly. What's ironic is that you'd think that with 24 hour news channels we would know more about current affairs than our parents and grandparents did, but I think we actually know less because of this single issue focus- and you're also right that scandals usually take priority.

It's mind blowing Tim...and honestly, I am shocked as to how many people who I'd consider pretty smart fall into the endless echo chambers.  Sadly, I have no idea how we get out of this.

Mattie testimony today reflects sharp differences with Trump on Russia as a top threat, NATO defense and upholding the Iran deal. Tillerson diverged from Trump's stance on climate change, Russian sanctions and security issues. Sessions doesn't support water boarding or deporting Muslims. Pompeo believes Russia interfered with the democratic process. Kelly flat out said the proposed border wall won't do the job.

Over and over cabinet nominees are putting distance between their positions and the President Elect. The media wants to talk about pee.

That's funny because it's true. I'm not sure though I agree with it all.

I found the grilling of Pompeo appalling. 1st in his class at West Point and they try and beat him up over climate change? The Left looked really stupid when they questioned him IMO. The amount of disrespect they displayed towards him was embarrassing.

President Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard and you have made an ### of yourself questioning him over the past eight years.  I hope you see the irony.

These dirty pirate whores asking no...grilling him today, they aren't fit to press his uniform IMO, disgusting the ridiculous absurd questions they asked him. LGBT...that is how we operate? From LGBT as the norm and move out from that center thought? Give me a break!

He was also the editor of the Harvard Law Review. Without ever contributing a piece for it. Now that's talent

I think this is absolutely fascinating. And it's coming to a head very shortly. Almost as soon as Trump takes office, he has to either decide to extend Obama's sanctions on Russia (which Pompeo and Tillerson both want) or he has to end them. What's he going to do?

I tried to look into the Russia stuff and couldn't tell what was real and what was fake so have chosen to ignore it until people smarter than myself decipher it all.

Another fascinating one is Price, for Health and Human Services. All reports are that it is his "Obamacare replace" plan that Trump is going to adopt. I don't have the details on this plan, but from what I understand it's basically a "replace benefits with tax breaks" type of deal.

Multiple problems: first, Trump promised yesterday that nobody's going to lose their health care and everyone's going to get lower premiums. About a month ago Trump also promised that the "no pre-existing condition" part of Obamacare was going to stay in place. NONE of this is going to happen under Price's plan. There is also Trump's assurance that repeal and replace would take place at exactly the same, and Republicans in Congress, including Ryan) declaring something else entirely.

So who knows what's going to happen? But the most comical ironic result would be Congress voting to repeal Obamacare without replacement, and Trump vetoing the bill because it didn't provide a replacement.

It appears that we've lost it as a collective and are in the worst "look....squirrel !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" rut I can ever remember.

Pretty much.

Liberals losing their minds because he's exactly what we knew he was, conservatives acting like this is some next level Jedi mindtrick long game.

About to kill ACA but have no plan what's replacing it (but it'll happen immediately & it'll be better.) We're gonna lower the cost of big pharma products because we're going make 'em bid! Which is good idea when you're choosing a pour cement wall contractor, not so much when you're talking to the only lab in the world that makes a particular drug.

That's just one example. The lack of knowledge or expertise on policy matters is astounding, but from what we 're seeing from his cabinet, people he has appointed are treating him crazy uncle Don. That's nice, why don't you focus on that wall while we run the world.

His mandate is so weak, if he survives the inevitable scandals & ethical conflicts, he'll lose a lot of congressional support going into the mid-terms. His approval rating will continue to plummet, he'll be too toxic for many GOP members up for re-election in 2018, and there's a good chance they lose control of one or both houses.

Have you ever listened to Pompeo?  The guy is a complete whack job and he deserves to get grilled and he should not be confirmed (I know he will be).

Now that would be some progress in the right direction.  Still a long way to go after that.

I would encourage everyone to watch the Trump piece that Frontline did.  It does a pretty good job giving his background that explains why he acts like he does, both positive and negative.  Before someone claims bias, they did an election piece that covered both Hillary and Trump, but the post-election version simply filtered out the Hillary story.

If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor

I saw the original with the Hillary info included. I was hoping the new episode was more of a look ahead and was disappointed that it was basically a repeat. Really good piece though and well worth viewing if you want a little more insight into Trump.

Same here...

Why not get a different plan that your doctor is covered under?
They could have just as easily done like me and ignored Obamacare and kept any doctor they chose.

The short answer is for many people, insurance offered through the exchange wasn't accepted by their doctor.

Why not get the insurance outside of the exchange?

It's quite interesting to compare Trump's campaign rhetoric to what his appointments are saying.  Many 180 degree disagreements.  Who's telling the truth?  Which is more likely to come to fruition where they are at odds with each other; Trump's campaign "promises" or what his appointments are saying?

All political appointees get replaced when a new administration comes in.  The only unusual thing is that Trump is apparently dropping the guy in the middle of Inauguration Day.
I guess I didn't realize the national guard guy would get turned over as well- but that makes sense. Why at 12:01?

I'd like to think that....but I don't know. I think his supporters will fall on the barbed wire to protect him and vote for him regardless and I don't have ANY faith in those who didn't like him/support him in this past election who either didn't vote or who voted for someone else.
