Tush Push - Do the rules apply for this play or not? Doesn't seem like it (3 Viewers)

Another Tush Push, another play where the offensive line lined up in tbe nuetral zone AND the right guard went early.

?? It's time to start officiating this play like every other offensive snap.
If a Chiefs said this to me I couldn’t help but laugh in their face. Their oline has been violating the rules for multiple years. Lining up in the backfield and leaving their stance early. And the officials continue to turn a blind eye.

Sorry, I digress. Carry on.

Fox rules analyst Dean Blandino on the tush push: "I am done with the tush push, guys. It's a hard play to officiate."

I don't see what's so hard about throwing a flag for offsides or lining up in the neutral zone. They were obvious in real time...the refs blew those calls.

The refs also missed when Hurts scored, and still didn't get it right with the replay. Doesn't seem that the problem is with the play.

FBG Poster ProstheticRGK To Dean Balndino: “Who cares? Quit yet whining and go back to being a shill for the shield.”
I mean

This image seems like more strong support for enforcing existing rules as both teams have several players offside in addition to 2-3 Eagles false starting. I think it is extremely common on goal-line or very short yardage plays, not just the Eagles running this particular play. The NFL has a problem with fundamental LoS rules we all grew up with. This includes the Jawan Taylor step, which I see lots of players doing (although I've read he's getting flagged for it more often now.) There are examples from other sports where the athletes just kept pushing the limits until they eventually re-wrote the rulebook such that actions that once were penalized are now commonplace.

Stop whining. Stop it or shut the **** up
Okay, by that logic, run it legally or shut the **** up. 🙄 Good contribution.

Even if they called the offensive lineman always in the neutral zone and they flagged the constant false starts, people watching the game still have no idea when the play ends ...and neither do the officials.

It's garbage to watch, and even officiating experts and game commentators have finally quit pretending its being run within the existing rules.

I find it to be an exciting play and I am completely surprised that other teams do not copy it. Oh, and huge chuckles for blaming the play itself for the officials shortcomings at calling obvious penalties. Really?

I suppose the NFL might try again to outlaw the play during the off-season. I suppose the NFL might be successful. Maybe. Maybe next time they ought to bring valid reasoning for doing so.

But hey, I'll step aside once more and let folks have their QB-sneak complaint thread.
