UPDATE: So I think I may have lung cancer (1 Viewer)

Back again to post another update. It appears the chemo is working. I go in again mid-week for another round (3 of 4). While I do have some coughing on occasion, I have been able to be off oxygen during the day. I still have reduced lung capacity and get winded if I try to do too much activity. The doctors said they will do a scan after all chemos are complete and have a chance to work. The one thing I did notice after the last round was increased nausea, both intensity and length of time. A friend told me THC was good for those symptoms. I actually did some research and found some interesting reports about reduced nausea + a phagocytosis effect in some patients. I will bring it up at my next appointment. Of course, I wouldn't want to derail any positive mix I currently have. I appreciate all the well wishes from the TFBG collective. Positive thoughts, support from family and friends, along with lots of prayer, bring me confidence that I can beat this...
GLGB. And THC can be ingested if you are worried about the seeming contradiction of smoking to help with something that is usually caused by smoking.
Yeah, don't smoke it. I tried it when I had bronchitis and nearly coughed up a lung.

It can help to have a small treat to look forward to after chemo. Something like a movie rental or a new book.Good luck.
Funny- I thought you were going to say bong-hit.Good luck enfuego- still completely inspired by your tremendously positive attitude.

Totally missed this thread. GL enfuego.

Keep up the fight.

Sorry if it's been asked or if this is too personal just ignore it but are you able to work during this time? Are you struggling financially to keep up?

At this point, I have been through 4 rounds of chemo and the side-effects were progressive. I had to undergo a 3 rounds of shots to get my white blood cell count up to fight off any possible infection. This week I go for a knee to head CT scan to see if the cancer has spread or the tumors have shrunk. Whatever the results, I will keep fighting and keeping it positive.

enfuego,

What is the status of your mediastinal lymph nodes? any enlargement? Any positive PET scans?

And what type of lung cancer are we talking about? Small cell? Non-small cell? Adeno? Squamous?

Missed this thread the first time around. I always feel for people who are non-smokers that get lung cancer, yet there are smokers out there that smoke for 50+ years with no issues. I worry about this with my wife having grown up in a smoker house. Wishing you the best of luck. Stay strong. It seems you are having no trouble keeping a positive attitude.
