US Men's National Team (25 Viewers)

Fulham and Pepi are being linked in the rumors.
Raul really found himself again last season. Wonder how pepi would fit in there if Raul stays (granted, getting older)
Doesn't seem like an ideal situation. If he's going to leave PSV, I want him to go somewhere where he's the clear starter.
the same rumors also mentioned unnamed Italian and Spanish teams are also in the mix.
The reality is- he had essentially won the starting 9 role at PSV before getting hurt. They were pretty clearly phasing deJong out with less and less starts. And Pepi was producing.

So if he doesn't go anywhere, I'm good with that.

the rumors out of PSV certainly sound like either they get a premium for Pepi as a fee or they intend to make him the first choice striker next season. Like you, I am good with that.

He has been around so long he probably appears older than he is. Pepi is only 22, so he still has time to get a big move before his prime years.

Weston started for Juve tonight and Weah subbed in at halftime.

Juve is thumping Al Ain 4-0 at half.
I didn't see the arm and, but I think they mentioned he was captain for this one, playing what seemed like an 8 role. He let guys like Conceciao and Yildiz do the attacking as MFs. Felt like he played well, but took often hit the ball square or back. Didn't see him hit a single ball progressed unless it was short. Shanked his only shot (that I saw). Weah looked lively, but ultimately didn't do a lot. Ended up 5-0.

Haiti took Saudi to the shed by pressing hard and fast, but stiill lost. Saudi showed it was clinical when it needed to be, but otherwise looked overwhelmed.

Not horrible so far other than some missed passes. Arfsten looking better to me than when I hated him a week or 2 ago.
But Saudis plaong to not lose, not to win and we will struggle to create chances. I hope we don't see a 65/35 possession game and come out with a loss on something stupid.

I know we shrug at Johnny... But I haven't seen him consistently worse than what Berhalter has been. For that matter, LDLT seems off the pace too. Even Tillman... Is he even playing?

Man, lousy turnout in Austin.

Just so dumb how we constantly do this. Do a little basic research and figure out what price is required to get people in the building
This has nothing to do with US Soccer. This is a Concacaf event.
It has to do with US citizens liking banana ball more than soccer.
Also, hearing the name berhalter constantly gives me PTSD
Yeah, those nail biter wins over Mexico for championships were stressful.

Maybe AI isn't so bad after all...

The USMNT starting lineup for the match on June 19, 2025, against Saudi Arabia is: Matt Turner (Capt.), Antonee Robinson, Weston McKennie, Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah, Joe Scally, Mark McKenzie, Tim Ream, Tyler Adams, Gio Reyna, and Johnny Cardoso

I can't match most of you in soccer acumen, so I focus on the other stuff...

I noticed during the singing of the national anthems portion of the program that only Tim Ream seemed to be able to approximate the lyrics, which I wouldn't care about most times, and I'd even give Poch a pass, EXCEPT that he's making a big fuss about the desire to play for country. Maybe bothering to learn the national anthem isn't in Poch's calculus, but part of me feels like some sort of patriotism should be. I never paid attention to whether Klinsmann bothered to learn the lyrics, but at least it would be better optics for a team that one is supposedly burning to play for if they bothered to learn the words, and despite being a foreigner, maybe if Poch wants his players to be sold out to play for the red, white and blue, he could set a better example by at least appearing to give a **** about the patriotic stuff that happens beforehand.

I think I'm going to go against the grain and say that if Poch leaves for another job after or even before the Gold Cup ends won't be the end of the world.
