US Men's National Team (28 Viewers)

Pulsiic on bench and Weston starting in the derby today.  If Pulisic plays and Dortmund wins, Pulisic will break Julian Drax's record as the youngest player in Bundesliga history with 50 wins in games he has played.

Sargent on bench.  Weah sadly not even in the 18 for Celtic as this loan continues to get worse for him.

Weah has stated he wants to play in the U20 WC.  Celtic has their Cup final after the U20 WC starts so hopefully they will release (especially seeing of how little importance the new coach has exhibited in him).
Had something from Scotland pop up on my news feed about a tweet he made wishing his teammates good luck this weekend. Fans were   . End of the article said the reason for the absence was he was released for u23 duty....which sounds wonky

that is wonky as there is no U23 camp going on right now that I know of.

Jimmy Banks died yesterday from pancreatic cancer. He had 36 caps including 2 in the 1990 World Cup team.  Banks and Desmond Armstrong were the first two African American soccer players to play in a World Cup. Banks was a soccer legend in Milwaukee. He’s in the Milwaukee Wave hall of fame and was the long time coach at Mil. School of Engineering. I always thought it was strange he spent the last 20 years coaching at a small technical college here in town and never had higher aspirations. But he was truly dedicated to promoting the sport in urban areas of Milwaukee; starting a youth league, developing a club (Milwaukee Simba FC), and more recently a futsal league, all focused on inner city kids and the particular issues they face in pursuing soccer in a pay to play country.

I remember him well.  He was on the team in the late 80's when I first started to follow the Nats closely (or at least what passed for closely in that era).

Very sad to see him pass so young.

I don't know how to interpret this but hopefully it means Reading want to use him next season.   It would be fun having both our bean poles on the same team next year if Miazga stays.

RFC Latest‏ @RFCLatest

Reading have informed Fortuna Sittard that they cannot retain Andrija Novakovich next season. Reading not looking to sell

It has been a lot of famine for a while so it is finally time to feast.

Note that no knockout round games are listed yet obviously but hopefully we will have a bunch of those to watch as well

You guys have me hooked on all touch videos. I started making them for my 12 year old to review...lol.
they are the greatest recent modern addition to fandom imo.

Especially when we are trying to follow players from a zillion different teams, there is no way to watch all the games, but in 2-3 minutes, one can get a fairly good feel for how the player performed on the ball.

Sure we don't get to see off the ball stuff but it is infinitely better than trying to read an article hoping for a single line on a specific player or trying to dryly read stats to get a feel.

He's still young ish, right?
23.  plenty young if he was getting regular minutes.   He is far too old to be never playing first team minutes.   He needs a loan/release or transfer to a league he can play in.  From what I have seen of him he is as good as many MLS players who get called to the Nats but with no minutes, he is never going to get called.

Gotta think it won't hurt.
This is what I think too.

I don't know Wagner from a hole in the wall, but it seems possible that if he takes over Schalke and does a good job (say upper half of the table), that he is going to be on the short list to take over for the 2026 cycle.  As such, if that interests him, hopefully developing a good relationship with Weston will come out of it.

But that is all long term stuff.  In the short term, I just hope he likes Weston's game and finds one position (instead of 7 ) for him to play next season.

Lol. I’ve actually seen this place pop up as somewhere that my stuff occasionally gets posted. I wanted to give it a trial run here before I put it out there on the bigger social networks. Twitter, Reddit, all that. Glad you enjoyed it.

Also, this forum is kinda cracking me up. I feel like I wandered into the digital version of some sort of isolated mountain village in West Virginia. Seems like you guys have a cool thing going here.

Reminder:

The US U17's start WCing tomorrow with a game against Canada at 6:00pm Eastern.  Game will be on UDN and Concacaf's Facebook page.

Someday i’ll Make a joke that Andy hasn’t already mentioned 5 hours ago.

Hey, new guy. How can you mention the 2007 U20 team and not mention their greatest talent?  I refer, of course, to Sal Zizzo.

I must be missing something here. I remember Sal Zizzo for the same reason I remember famed Hartford Whaler Zarley Zalapski. They have a cool last name that starts with Z.
