At a minimum, maybe let his shins take some of the Concacafing normally reserved for Pulisic in qualifying.?Raises the question though... Where does he play against a good team. Because he's basically CP in terms of what he brings on the defensive side of things
He’ll, McKennie would be better.Seriously .. I like his game when it's on, bit gyassi has been absolutely awful
High as a kite sebowski would he better. He’ll, McKennie would be better.
Fwiw, I remember the US doing it before I remember Iceland doing it.are the fans trying to do the iceland clap or is that some dude on a drum i need to shoot?
Great game going forward. Useless game defending.Boyd looking to cement his place at RW. He's had a great game. A little better playing by the guys around him and he'd have 3-4 assists tonight too.
Depends on who plays RB. If Lima or Yedlin are out there then, no we can't afford to use him against better teams. CP is a better defender than you're giving him credit for though. He plays above average defense on the wing at Dortmund. I just think he's not intuitive defensively in the middle. Ideally, CP would play RW and we'd get the above average defense and the playmaking ability we'd like to see out there, but then we'd need a skilled player in the middle and we don't seem to have that yet.Great game going forward. Useless game defending.
With CP and Jozy/zardoz... Can we afford another attack only player against even the T&Ts, let alone Panama, let alone CR or Mex
I agree about CPs d...but I don't want him having to do it for the US unless Boyd proves himself to be his equal. Last games showed me he isn't.Depends on who plays RB. I don't think we can overestimate just how bad Zardes was tonight. It was a mess from start to finish. No hold up play, his runs were off, he was getting out battled physically.
It was a complete black hole outside of his "golazzo".
Bradley had a weaker than expected game for me but every one else was at least fine.
The games get slightly harder each time. T&T should be a step up from this and certainly Panama should be another small step.
Seriously .. I like his game when it's on, bit gyassi has been absolutely awful
Yedlin survives in the EPL. He should be able to survive against the better Concacaf teams imo.Depends on who plays RB. Hopefully just cramp. He had some really nice moments, but still seemed too bossed defensively, resorting to fouling too often for me.Weston was out there celebrating with the team and thanking the fans.![]()
We're thinking the same thought tonight, ol palYedlin survives in the EPL. He should be able to survive against the better Concacaf teams imo.
And I know people are sick of hearing it, but if we put Adams and Weston together in the middle, we can afford both Boyd and Pulisic together on the field.
Having only one holding midfielder (and a slow footed one at that) puts the entire team under too much pressure.
Likely fatigue. He was hurt for a good part of the spring season for Dortmund, so I don't know how much endurance he has right now. He was clowning guys early and I expect he'll continue to do so going forward. He's so much better than any defender Concacaf can throw at him. After a nice start, CP pretty much disappeared. I wonder what happened there...if it was GUY gameplanning him, which opened up space for other players, or conditioning or something else. Was hoping for more sustained brilliance from him. He wasn't even really getting kicked the way he will be in the next two games.
That should hopefully come with his game fitness. I'm worried about the kicking he's about to take the rest of the way forwardI am a little worried about Pulisic's goalscoring ability right now though. He had three decent looks(including what should've been an easy header right at the end of the half) and didn't convert any of them. Would really like to see him gain more of a nose for the goal.
That's always gonna be the worry with Pulisic playing in Concacaf. Kinda wish we had a Germany Jones on this squad to give it back. That should hopefully come with his game fitness. I'm worried about the kicking he's about to take the rest of the way forward
He came to the realization that passing to Zardes is a little different than passing to AubameyangAfter a nice start, CP pretty much disappeared. I wonder what happened there...
Hopefully just cramp.
Looked like a foot/ankle issue to me from his initial reaction. So hopefully he's not just being literal with the answer, and he's actually ok.scuffed @zlebmada
Boyd limped off. Asked him if he pulled his hammy: “No I didn’t!”
Puskas Award, all the years.Zardes just adding material for his Fever for the Flava highlight film.
completely agree. At least Boyd makes things interesting and entertaining, wasn't expecting much but at least last night he seemed legit. Can't add anything that hasn't been said, CP needs to play out wide to take advantage of his speed and ability to school guys one on one, Bradley while fine last night to provide that leadership is way too SLOW. At one point Swag saved his butt running back 60 yards to cut a break away off that Bradley couldn't get to. When actual qualifying starts Berhalter has to see it's time to turn this team over to Adams, he seems to have that leadership personality and can be the heart of the team. Adams and Swag in the middle, CP and Boyd wide, Jozy back in the middle and get Miazga back in for some grit. That and pray Brooks gets healthy should be enough to keep us going forward until that next group of up and coming youngsters is ready to really help out.
that is my exact lineup if I was coaching today and every one was healthy. I would call up every US lb until one sticks. Ream is not the answer (nor is it his fault)completely agree.
.......................steffen
yedlin...... miazga......brooks...... #### it all
................adams.......swag
boyd..................nagbe..................cp
...................jozy
Pomy, Weah ...maybe even young gio.that is my exact lineup if I was coaching today and every one was healthy. I would call up every US lb until one sticks. Ream is not the answer (nor is it his fault)
Nagbe is not young though (he will be 29 next month) so at the first chance I would look to the next generation. I like to imagine Pomykal could do very well in that role. He would provide the two way soccer that Nagbe can't and would give even more cover to allow CP and Boyd to focus on the offense.
It would be awesome if Weah could mature into a spot where he can be a first choice off the bench for Boyd/Jozy/CP because we know this team does not in any way stay healthy.
And then let performance dictate whether Yedlin stays or whether Dest can start to push him out.
Yes.Are we 100% sold on Steffen?
