US Men's National Team (12 Viewers)

This is like watching u14 game where most players are waiting for someone else to create an opportunity.. I’ve ref and coached soccer for 20 plus years..

1. Cannon has no business on this team

2. Omar needs to be a Go—Away-tomorrow

3. This has to be the shortest and worst midfield ever. Ever.

This has been brutal to watch.

yep.

Lewis. huh?

trapp and dgjdorgee... kinda figured that would be the half they'd have, but unexpected dip in quality from roldan who i thought would fit right into this game.

handful of moments where the ball moved quickly and the space parted like the red sea. jozy should've finished. lewis. huh? can't start for NYC, but good enough for the US. sure.

lots of sloppy first and last touches all around.

gonzo... nozo.

is morris, dare I say it... looking ok? I'm at work still, so not fully focused, but I think he's been involved in some bright spots.

lovitz has a nice first touch- useful, so he can then wait until the new reader's digest arrives so he can make his next move. which is backwards.

but overall- in spite of it all- the B/C team has looked better than the Panama B/C team.

This afternoon I was excited about the USMNT and the presidential debate being on tv tonight. After watching both of them for more than an hour, I have no idea what I was thinking on either front.

At the national level, should it matter?
For cohesiveness? I'd say more than a bit. I would factor it in to tonights performance for this group. is it an excuse? It shouldn't be the crutch. But somewhere in the middle in a complete evaluation

I think both Long and Zimmerman are ahead of him right now. Long because of his pace and Zimmerman for his passing.
Miazga has passed the ball very well this game.  He's not at Zimmerman's level, but Miazga is better in the air than anyone else on the roster right now and he's been more composed than any defender I've seen in the last 3 games.  He should be starting IMO.

So the point is, at the national level you only get X amount of games to work on cohesiveness.  Not really sure this one should be.  Get the starters working right. If the subs cant get on the same page in training then training is an issue.

ETA there is a huge drop from starter to sub.  Big problem moving forward

I mean all in all, not horrible.  Our B team beat their B team.  But, it doesnt seem to me the subs made were to create "cohesiveness". Instead it seems as the subs made were a result of GB being told "we dont lose in the gold cup".

Find a starting 11 1st.  One that's not going to get embarrassed by the 2nd tier teams.

Then worry about depth.  Use training to get them up to speed.  You only get 3 subs any way.  "Major" tournaments shouldn't be the proving ground.

The only thing I saw from the non regulars tonight was that we are still way way behind.

Thought Jozy was finding his game after the goal... showed back a few times and made the reception, hold, distribution look so un-zardoz and easy. Tbh, was disappointed to see him leave just so he could try to find some combinations with CP.  But makes sense if he's getting back into things. That jozy is no-brainer starter.

Roldan was unusually weak tonight on both sides of the ball- way too slow. Trapp was usually weak. Georgie was up and down. One decent thing about those there- one of them typically popped up to win the second ball....I'm a fan of winning the second ball.

Cannon and Lewis. No mas.

Anybody else have the "you'll love it at lovitz" commercial? Fraudulent.

Btw... Miazda with the nice out back for jozys goal, and jorji put the corner on a dime.

Was coming to ask... if Brooks is healthy, who's the other CB?  I think I might lean Long right now.
I prefer miazga, tbh. But I like longs pace. Also feels like Brooks and miazga play similar games and both turn off against the little diagonal runs that concacaf opponents do so well...long is better for adding cover of that
