US Men's National Team (17 Viewers)

Nothing makes any sense.

Some of this stuff just sounds like people on twitter making things up but I can't tell who has real info and who us just taking the piss out of every one spreading rumors.

I figure some day we will get the full story but it won't be in the near future.

I hope Weston doesn't get blackballed by the Federation due to the Federation trying to save face.

Would be such bull####.

GGG already said today Weston would be welcomed back.

If US Soccer is trying the black ball a player, no coach worth anything is ever going to sign on imo.

Good to hear.  Weston's dad's comments didn't make them look necessarily good...hopefully cooler heads prevail.

All I know is that when I was Weston's age, it would have been impossible to keep me in a hotel room and away from women...or at least the opportunity of women.

This seems forgivable...hope he's in our plans for the next set of games.
Exactly.  I can see him missing one game, two seems excessive.

FWIW, local soccer guy here I know stayed in the Nashville team hotel, saw Weston's family, etc. He said Weston got in trouble for staying in his girlfriend's room one night and had his girlfriend in his room the other night. It wasn't a rando, partying on the town, teammate's sister, etc.

Take that for what it's worth.

He’s obviously just covering for the team and keeping the real details of the drunken, coke-fueled orgy to himself.

Seems like the TV schedule is a bit in flux.

Telemundo has been added as a broadcaster of the US game and the Mexico Panama start time has been moved to an hour earlier so that the Mexico and US games will not overlap.  At least at the moment, things seems to be fluid right now.

Don't forget the US game time also changed earlier this week to 10:30pm eastern start time.

In Soccer America's daily "soccer on TV".email .. it doesn't show the game being on any English channels other than Paramount+

That can't be right can it?  ugh.

Yup that's what I see on FotMob.  10:05 eastern kickoff.

It's absurd how much Paramount+ has ruined watching soccer for me.  Kids and I used to wake up and watch Premier League Mornings each weekend - until all the best early games got moved there.  sucks

Oh wait.. it was Peacock Plus who ruined EPL mornings.   Stupid streaming channels.  lol

probably Lletget instead of Acosta. and Sarge instead of Pepi. This would be Miles and Adams third game...so maybe they sit to start.

Had the same thought re: giving Roldan a shot in the Lletget role.  Other than the one chance he created (a great play) Lletget hasn't brought much to the table and is way too quick to turn back.  Giving Pepi the start (his first minutes) in a close-to-must-win WCQ game away to Honduras seems... I dunno.

I also like Doyle's idea.  Put Acosta in the six where where he was monstrous over the summer, and has room to run and hit his long passes, move Adams into an 8 role, bring Sarge back at the #9 and then press the hell out of Honduras -- basically build on the strong D, embrace that strength and use it to get the ball in better spaces, rather than weaken the D to try and create more offense.  (I'm sure it will be humid, but it'll also be dark and the temps look they'll be 75-80.)

IMO run Sarge out there in the pressing role like you said and let him run ragged. Bring Pepi in at 70.

I can't see Miles sitting. He's been a rock.

Since we all know more than GGG and given what's left on the roster :loco:  I'd go with a 4-4-2 diamond.

I really want Miles in there again, but he's done a ton of work this week.

I really don't like Yedlin.  Wish Cannon was here instead.

At 60min: Bring Adams on at for Sands; Pepi for Sarge. Konrad for CP

Yedlin....Zim...Brooks....Ant

I like this. I think Aaronson has to play centrally. He's been doing it this year for his club and I think he'll be able to get CP more involved than anyone else available.

Agree with the subs as well. And he better do it early.

Only thing is I think you get Miles back out there. I know he's played a lot, but he's young enough and plays at a position that it's not unreasonable in a game of this magnitude.

It is correct unfortunately.  I was hoping they would be putting it on CBSSN again but they did not.  I will be watching on one of the Spanish channels.

Yeah, looks like I get Telemundo on my HULU Live already.

Might give Paramount+ a look see on a free trial if I can get it.

My only issue with Aaronson in the middle is if he's got the support behind him to defend more.  He can get into that 'chicken with his head cut off' mode if he's stuck playing box to box.  Let him primarily focus on the attack and combining with the 2 up top.

I think Sarge having a partner up top will help unlock his game.

I forgot to post it and now I can't find it anymore (it may have gotten taken down) but some one created a US Soccer release saying Pulisic picked up a knock and has been replaced on the roster by Jonathan Lewis.  It had the predictable result for those who did not understand it was fake.

:lmao:

I like, but dunno about this one only because of lack of width. Are we relying on Yedlin and Ant to provide it? Acosta and Roldan (latter has subbed in well there, I guess)?

I know minutes are a concern but I honestly did not see any hints of either Turner or Adams being tired late in that game against Canada.

Adams is not a box to box type of player so I don't think he expends the energy of many midfielders and he may still be able to start.  Maybe he will have to be monitored though in second half.

M Robinson is probably in the best shape on the team.  CB's can usually play more minutes than other positions, which is why outside of keeper, that CB's can also tend to be older than most on the field.  I am hopeful he will start.

Here is a question I hope some one will tell me the answer is 0%.

It is the 89th minute.  The US is losing by at least three goals.  Pepi has not played yet.   GGG calls him to sub in.

What is the chance that he refuses to sub in so that he does not get provisionally cap tied for three years?

thinking about Sammy's lineup, maybe this could work.

eta: and I'd be happy with CP pushing higher

Ok... I thought Jedi was Miles Robinson. It's Ant?

eta: I like it though
I'll also say this is the roster I expect:

    CP---Sargent---Aaronson

Acosta---Adams----LLetget

Jedi---non-Brooks CB---Robinson---Yedlin

Speaking from history, I think he puts as many "safe" players of the field as possible.

the US and Honduras are currently tied for 4th with identical records, G & GA.

Mex- 6

Pan- 4

Can- 2

US/HON- 2

ELS- 2

CR-1

JAM- 0

ELS v CAN

MEX v PAN

CR v JAM

US v HON

Obviously we want a US and Mex win tonight, with the other two ending in ties.

We have all wanted to avoid this in the modern game but I wonder if we have to take a chance and give Pulisic an entire free role, side to side, to not only find the game and the ball more often but to also make it a little more difficult to mark him with the same small group of players.

We have to figure out some way to jump start this teams ability to create multiple chances.  It is just too many games in a row now, no matter who we trot out as a front flat 3.

when you look at the standings, the amount of home points that have been dropped after just two match days is amazing.

Only 1 team won their game at home and that was a late winner by Mexico.   Every other home team across the other 7 games dropped points.

people see him trying to provide cover out wide in a runner and think he's awful when he gets burned... and he does get burned in those situations. that's definitely his Achilles heel.

but organizing a defense, dictating the center of the defense in the air or on the ground and then being one of the best passers of the ball- either easy short or diagonal long...those are consistent strengths at all levels.

with a speedy CB partner and FBs, he should normally be fine and not have to be chasing anybody.
This I disagree with.  Biggest example in the last game was him 2 yards into the offensive half and his partner 2 yards into the defensive half with a Canadian player running free between them.  Through ball in behind Brooks and Canada is off to the races, luckily they could not finish.  I see this with him every game I've watched (USMNT and the couple German league games I've caught).  Either he is rushing up to dive into a needless challenge in the offensive half (resulting in a foul or an easy turn and break) or he's well ahead of his defense and out of position allowing players in behind him.

And because of those of you in here stating he is an auto start, I have been trying to watch more of him to see what I am missing.

I guess it goes with out saying but this Weston kerfuffle assures us of yet another window going by with out ever seeing Adams, Weston and Pulisic start a real game together.

They have started together in just one friendly a couple of years back and that is it.

News #FCBayern/Campus: Due to Nagelsmann’s request Booth and Tillmann will train regularly with the 1st team now.

This is why I'm not panicking.

Sure, it's disappointing, but this is a young team with a lot of guys experiencing this pressure for the first time. Berhaltertop included.

We'll see if they come together or if they melt. That's the interesting thing about soccer and about sports in general. I feel better about US Soccer as a whole versus 4 years ago, so I like to think this group will recognize the gravity of this situation.

I think they will be fine.

Not directed at you....

Concacaf is the toughest road environment in the world.  These Euro fanboys have no concept of what a tough road game is.  The travel, the heat/snow, the bumpy fields, and the under-rated USL soccer players.  Securing a draw in El Salvador or Panama is much tougher than rolling into France or Germany and winning the game.

I have been focusing on the CR away game in 2016 as an ugly parallel to this game tonight but some one on line brought up another game with similarities.

You guys all remember the iconic snow game against CR during the 2014 qualifying round, but what I had forgotten was that the team was in utter turmoil and chaos going into that game.  We had already lost the first game in qualifying to Honduras and the scathing tabloid like article came out from Brian Strauss indicating that the team was in total disarray with a lot of awful quotes from "unnamed" players making things look really really bad.

But the team some how manage a win in the snow game, which steadied the ship and they went on to qualify.  Maybe we get some of that similar luck tonight and we don't go down in flames like we did at CR last cycle.
