1st goal was a golazo. Guy took the ball insanely well on his first couple touches and went over the near shoulder, ala Donovan.
2nd goal... Not so much.

Well that was much better once we got one of the two strikers off. I don't understand what GGG was thinking not immediately taking one off when he made the Scally sub, much less let it go past half time.

Ream and Turner, arguably two of the most leveled headed, calm, and mature players on the team lost their **** yelling at Dest....

Was just thinking about this... A really useful 90 mins for his growth as a US player.
He was pretty bad for most of those minutes, but he seemed to finally settle into what needed to be done those last 15 mins... Finally winning the ball, and drawing fouls to help kill the game. Central America is going to be a whole other level of concacsf, but baby steps are good.

Don't disagree, though I think concacaf is already in Pepi's blood. I believe I saw him being an irritant on a couple occasions before he got subbed out, and when he was subbed out, he looked pretty salty.
Also would have liked to have seen Paxten replace his brother and see how he dealt with the abuse. Probably better than his brother.

It is a terrible situation all around.
He is going to be very scary to depend on to not blow a gasket again (this is twice now), and yet if we are being honest, the step down in quality from him to Scally (or whom ever) is quite large.
I don't know what the solution is...
She take your soccer balls to bed with her?
Sleep with Gio's mom might take the edge off someone.

If he hasn't come out with that apology immediately the way he did, we'd have to seriously consider cutting him loose... As good as he is and as big as the drop is (tbh, I don't know that the drop is that big if at all on the defensive side of things.

I agree. I was talking mostly offensively. We seem to get or even need a lot of offense from our fb's, and Scally does not appear to have much on the offensive side.
Have we've ever seen Pulisic/Gio/Weah/Balogun for 75+ minutes? Not sure we need Dest if those guys can take the pitch. If Pulisic had been available we win by two goals tonight. If Weah was available we win by one.

I wonder what the core guys (Adams, Pulisic, Weston and Weah) were thinking watching this game.....
I mentioned during the game that I thought Weston would have carried Dest away before the second yellow, but I also think Adams would have gotten in his face so aggressively that he may have lost focus on the ref. Gio was a bit too gentle although he can't take any blame obviously.

US lose 3-2 to Germany and are out of the U17 WC. Germany got the winner in the 87th.
I did not watch so I don't know how the US played. Stats look decent. The US held significantly more possession (they were chasing the game) and the other basic stats, like shots/corners/etc, look about equal.

If anything, I give Gio credit for what he did do to calm Dest down. I was happy to wake up to that apology and GGG seems to have put it to bed but man, I’m still fired up about how stupid it was so I can only imagine some of his teammates are livid still.
