Whoever made that near post run did in the 2 CBs as well.Gundogan (19) and Walker (2) taking a leisurely jog back while Weston is breaking wide open is going to look bad on film.

I watched parts of the BVB game. Gio still has the dangerous passing, but it's been a REALLY long time since I've seen him look very dangerous dribbling the ball. Early in his career, the reason I thought he could end up better than Pulisic was that he was able to dribble through heavy traffic without getting pushed off the ball. Not that he's played a ton the past few years, but when he does play, I rarely see him try that type of dribbling anymore.I listened in the BVB game... Didn't sound like Gio was super busy (didn't hear his name called a lot), but when he was it seemed he provided some danger. Switched over to Milan after Gios subbed out. mussh was playing as a holding MF when I switched over, so also not a lot of action.
The danger id hear in the game was from his crossing/passing, fwiw. Don't think I heard his name called about dribbling by somebody.I watched parts of the BVB game. On the bright side, two games ago (when he came in as a sub), Dortmund had him take at least one corner kick while he was in the game.
Bournemouth buying 2006 CB Matai Akinmboni from DC United for $2.5m plus a sell-on clause. This is great news because Bournemouth are a well run club and.....the sooner we get prospects moved out of DC the better.
Akinmboni is a pretty good prospect. He's more raw than a Banks but one of the best CB prospects we've produced (to be fair, we have a bunch between 05-07 that look to be better than anything in the 4 or so years previous to that). He turned 18 in October so this was as soon as he could head to England.

A goal and an assist so far for Alex Zendejas in the Liga MX Apertura 2024 final
It's so rare when players actually improve on the aspects that have held them back when they're already a "mature" player, so it's a trip to see Jedi become a competent crosser of the ball. There's really nothing left anymore to keep from concluding that he's a world class left back now. And maybe that label means a bit less now. We don't have a Marcelo, much less a Roberto Carlos or Maldini now. But he's as good as Andy Robertson and more consistent than a guy like Fonzie (who still feels like a left wing slumming it as a fullback most of the time). He's not really bad at anything anymore and his engine is elite. I don't think I've ever seen an "American" player improve as much as he has.

He also turned 22 in November meaning he basically has a full season before he ages out of this.Consider this stat and know that up until today, Gio had not scored since the 2022/2023 season
yes most in a single league. Comes from Opta.He also turned 22 in November meaning he basically has a full season before he ages out of this.Consider this stat and know that up until today, Gio had not scored since the 2022/2023 season
But I'm not following the stat. Pulisic scored 13 Bundesliga goals by age 20. He moved to Chelsea and then scored another 13 goals in the EPL before 23. Is it just the most in one single league?
Note: I think Ligue 1 fell out of the top 5 the single year that Balogun 21 goals.yes most in a single league. Pulisic has most across all top 5 leagues combined.
Now coach says 4 months at least.Btw, Balogun with setback on his shoulder injury and is out at least 3 months now. Going to have surgery on his shoulder. :(
Not to mention his durability. Sure he's had a few knocks and missed some time, but nothing major as I recall. :knocksonwood:It's so rare when players actually improve on the aspects that have held them back when they're already a "mature" player, so it's a trip to see Jedi become a competent crosser of the ball. I was always a fan, but always consistently laughed at his shortcomings- especially the zardozed clangy touch.
But you're totally right- week in, the guy is doing things on the ball that's at a very high level. I mean, he's no dest or cp in terms of his touch, but he doesn't have to be with how good he's gotten with it...and added to his absolutely elite motor and pace, he's made himself an elite LB.
coming off of their first loss of the season... one that De Jong started, with Pepi coming off the bench.Good opportunity for Pepi and maybe Ledezma to pad their stats today, as they're both starting in a cup game that's likely to be very lopsided
4-0 at halftime. Pepi has one goal and I think also forced an own goal.Good opportunity for Pepi and maybe Ledezma to pad their stats today, as they're both starting in a cup game that's likely to be very lopsided

Of course.Weah pulled his hammy in the Cup game yesterday. It is currently considered low grade so hopefully he won’t’t be out long.

whoops, forgot to add the associated quoteThis is probably Jedi's last chance to join a top 10ish level team in the world. It will all come down to what fee Fulham want. With Jedi's incredible fitness level, I think he is going to be a top left back for about 3-4 more years (until 30-31 ish) which would be perfect for him for one big contract with a top team.

Antonee Robinson to @marca on rumored transfer interest:
"I'm very happy here. The fact that there is interest from other teams is great. Obviously, it all comes down to whether someone wants me enough to pay what Fulham would ask. So, if the club sees it as a good idea, I would leave."

Or should be.
