Pulisic and Musah start for Milan today, although I wish Musah hadn't. He's been the worst player on the pitch so far and had a terrible giveaway in Milan's half that directly led to the first goal. Milan looking absolutely dreadful down 2-0 after 12 minutes already.

assist for Pulisic to get them back in the game

I am going to guess Musah will be looking for a new club this summer

======================

Yunus Musah was subbed out at the 24th minute against Fiorentina, went straight down the tunnel, refusing handshakes. Florenzi and Pavlovic went to console him. He then came back, hugged Conceição and apologised for his reaction. He was also subbed out in the first half against Lazio last month

He's looked so out of sorts this season, despite a lot of playing time. Hate seeing this regression for a player I like and had high hopes for growth into something special.

My new favorite USMNT player - Luna with a brace today. Give him the arm band. Ride him to the WC finals...

the more you read about him, the more it is hard to not be a fan. This is a fun story:

==========

“When I moved to Utah, I came here, and I was kind of a loner. I didn’t really like to hang out with people, was very to myself,” he said. “A month in of being here and training and you know, not really having much to do, being on my own, I thought about what’s needed in my life to become more of an all-around person. And I think my social skills were lacking.”
Luna said most people would likely think going out and going to parties would help him with his social skills, but “that just wasn’t my thing,” he said. For him, the next best thing was a job.

“I went through the whole double interview. I put my resume in, resume with ‘professional soccer player,’” he said. “They hired me. It was a super fun experience to work on my social skills and to keep conversations going, to meet new people and kind of see what a cup of coffee in the midday does for someone.”

During the episode, Luna and the film crew went through the drive-thru of a local Dutch Bros. There, he admitted that starting conversations was the hardest part for him, and he pointed out how the employees that were taking his order were successfully doing that.

“Getting that job at the coffee shop to help me outside of soccer, right, to help me speak with people and be more vocal and be more active in conversations with people, I think has definitely helped build my confidence outside of soccer,” he said. “But it also leads to on the field. You’re not shy. You’re not afraid of anything. So, to be able to play like yourself and be yourself is something I think is very important, and being confident with it, I think is one of the most important things to be successful in this career.”

Tillman with a goal in their win today.

Any news on Dests scratch?
Tillman has a knack for making a difficult goal look so easy

I still have not found out why Dest did not travel with the team.
ok just found it. Sounds like nothing serious

Per my connection with @RikElfrink, #USMNT defender Sergino Dest had a slight muscle issue which is why he did not dress today for PSV. The club hopes to have him back against Almere City next week.

Busio looks like he’ll go the distance for Valencia against Lecce today. I just turned it on with less than ten minutes to go, 1-1. FotMob and AiScore have Busio rated pretty highly for the match. Would be good if they could steal all the points in the dying embers here, though.

2007 LB Peyton MIller with his 2nd game back from injury yesterday.

What stands out to me from those clips is how good his balance is. We already know he's among the fastest players in MLS but the ability to never really be wrong-footed is impressive. And maybe it's just me but he looks bigger than last year (though maybe that's obvious given he just turned 17).

he looks bigger to me as well. A bit more thick, but not in a doughy way, more in a stalky way.

I didn't know what I was looking at when I clicked... Never would have thought or remembered he's 17 watching that video. Nothing exceptional on offense, but great read of the game and understanding of how to use his pace. Ahead of where Jedi was when I first started watching him as a 21ish yo.

Very positive reviews for Aidan Morris today in Middlesbrough’s 2-0 win over Blackburn Rovers. Led all players with a hefty 14 duels won as well Morris has been excellent in Boro’s last 2 games, as the club are starting to pick up form again. Now 5th in the Championship.
Morris has been quietly awesome since moving. He's the 2nd highest rated American in the Championship (behind Haji) ahead of Sargent and Aaronson.

I don't know if he has a lot of growth left in his game, but he's been one of the better mids in the Champinoship. And that should put him in the mix for the back side of the US roster - though with Johnny and Tessmann playing well too, it's a crowded group.
Morris was named to the Championship team of the week

Something seems off with this report, almost like the locations are flipped.

Looks like the US has lined up a game against Japan in San Diego in September. Japan will also play Mexico during that window in Nashville.

Gold Cup group is set. This is a surprisingly good group, mostly due to Saudi being placed in the bottom pot with CONCACAF minnows.

US, Haiti, T&T, Saudi Arabia

I am slightly embarrassed to think coming in top 2 is not a lock...

Pulisic, Yow and Reynolds starting today

Musah, Sargent, Paredes on bench
4 goals for Milan- none for CP.

Anybody watch or know more?

also- despite the rout, Musah planted on the bench. not good.
I did not watch. Pulisic had an assist on one of the goals.

Musah and Reyna almost certainly have to move this summer else they both could miss the WC roster cut. Something that previously seemed impossible to even consider.

I watched. Pulisic played very well. His assist came from a corner. He also almost scored on a corner that the goalie had to save just under the bar.

Late in the game he had a shot that was travelling towards goal that might've beaten the keeper, but Tammy got a touch to it instead. Tammy was offsides, however and the goal was ruled out.

Milan looked miles better in the 3-4-3 formation they played today though and Pulisic looked a lot more comfortable in his traditional winger role. I think this is probably bad news for Musah though, as I don't know where he fits in with this formation.

The problems in the team go far deeper than who wears the arm band IMO but FWIW

======================

Eric Wynalda to
@golz_tv

"Christian Pulisic is not a leader. He isn’t, he shouldn’t be, he shouldn’t wear the captain’s band, and that’s not a bad thing. The bigger problem that we have with our U.S. team is we don’t have a leader. We don’t have enough guys, even if it’s by committee, I don’t care, I really don’t care. There’s been some guys that have worn the captain’s band, I mean just don’t use three syllables because they won’t understand what the hell you said. That’s just part of the deal, but they’re gonna go on the field and they’re going to represent the flag and they’re going to represent your country and they’re going to fight and they’re going to play hard and they’re going to get into somebody when they’re not pulling their weight. That’s a captain, we don’t have that. So let’s get off Christian’s back. We can think that’s it Tyler Adams, we’ve thought that in the past, but that guy wants to laugh his way through every situation and you know it doesn’t work either. We need a little bit of fire and I don’t know where that’s going to come from, I really don’t."

I do wonder if we have more “skilled” guys than we used to but nobody that is really firey.

No germany jones, no Dempsey, even Acosta, nobody that will put someone on their *** to spice things up or protect players.

Everyone just seems so….passive.
