I can't see PSV turning down even 30m for him...

USMNT Otaku

@USMNTOtaku

PSV desperately want to keep Malik Tillman. The club will not even listen to offers below €50M should another club want to sign him.
@RikElfrink
I like Malik a lot, but from watching PSV a bunch earlier in the season he seems like another tweener, like Gio. Freedom to attack and not worry too much about defending. Not sure what position he'd play outside of Holland, tbh.

Ajax and PSV score within a minute of each other. PSV still top of league as long as they win. Tillman and Dest starting.
Richie dressed today back from suspension so it looks like Dest finally assumed the starting role as late as possible this season. I hope the late playing time will be enough for a Gold Cup call up.

And PSV still throwing players forward as if they're 0-2 down and chasing the game. God bless dutch soccer
Less than 15 left, 1 goal lead to win the title... I've seen Dest in the attacking third more than not. Lose possession, can't be bothered to sprint all out back to his actual position... Just sauntered along.

This isn't actually about USMNT, but it's relevant given the Pulisic penalty-kick-gate earlier in the season. I didn't watch, but it sounds like something similar happened in Man City's FA Cap final loss to Crystal Palace. They earn a penalty kick, Haaland is supposed to take it, but lets someone else take (and miss) it. After the game Pep basically says "I don't know what happened. Haaland is supposed to take those, but the players decided otherwise. Oh well". So a very similar situation, other than Pep not even pretending to be outraged by it.

Beginning to get frustrated with the apparent amateurish way that European sports teams seem to be run. It's as though the players are expected to be selfish, and that takes priority over doing whatever gives the team the best chance of winning. Maybe I'm generalizing too much, but this seems similar to the situation where Formula 1 drivers feelings are often taken into account, to the detriment of the team.

Here is the 60 man prelim roster for Gold Cup. Reyna, Weah and Weston not on it due to WCC although I see no reason Dortmund would not have released Reyna if called. Pepi not on due to injury. I don't see any other names missing from a first glance...

No Reynolds...again

No Booth or Paredes (probably due to injury for both?)

Brady and Freese over Slonina and Klinsmann

Still no Banks
I have no idea what health Slonina is in. I don't think he has played a minute this entire calendar year so far, after Barnsley sent him back to Chelsea this winter due to an injury.

I am sad but unsurprised about Banks. He got injured at the worst time and got almost no minutes after he came back.

I can not understand Reynolds especially when ******** Shaq Moore continues to use his vodoo doll on US coaches. To balance this I was very happy to see Freeman on the list. He continues to crush it in MLS (he dominated the Miami attack last night). It might be a little too late to make a push for WC 2026 unless he gets a move this summer and continues to crush it in a bigger league (both happening are probably unlikely).

Every time I look up Paredes is hurt again. He simply may not have the body for the pro game.

Well, I was exactly today years old when I learned Kristoffer Lund's last name is not Lund........ :sadbanana:
Huh. Hansen's a less smiley name than Lund, I guess.
This is what google had to say, maybe this is what is happening?

In Denmark, while not everyone uses a middle name, it is a common practice. Danish middle names are often family names, passed down through generations, and can be used in place of a last name in some cases.

Malik Tillman was the Who Scored Player of the Year in the Eredivisie as the highest rated player across the entire league.

=======

And as always I have to mention why the **** can’t he do this against Concacaf opponents? This summer will be another chance I hope.

He has to actually defend and play a position for the US.

I've liked what I've seen, in what feels like limited appearances for the US- regardless of stats. He's strong on and off the ball (and on both sides of the ball), fast and quick, good ball skills and vision, willing to try ****. Just not sure what position works for him.

eta: and that's crazy that he was the highest rated WhoScored player in the entire Eredivisie. would be interesting to see that list

Here is the list.

I figured Pepi would be higher than 23.
Almost seems like the ratings may not be prorated to number of minutes played - there are a couple of other PSV players who tend not to play the full game (Bakayoko and Til) who are even lower than Pepi

Atletico Madrid have entered the race to sign Johnny Cardoso. They have been following Johnny for a long time and have placed him in a preferential position on their wishlist to reinforce the midfield. From Johnny’s camp, they are confident he could leave for the same price agreed with Tottenham: around €25M.

I'm really excited to see what Poch can do with Balogun.

I like that but would probably rotate the Luna-Pulisic-Tilman clockwise from how you have it

Pulisic probably works in all positions offensively and is best served defensively on one of the wings.

As Floppo mentioned earlier, we probably want to limit Tillman’s defensive responsibilities so I think keeping him out wide is better than putting him in the middle. Luna’s defensive work rate is excellent and he won’t be a liability in the middle defensively.
