No idea. The picture was posted with teammates but it was a still picture not one where they were actively training. Working out in the side makes the most sense.
 
Banks got another start today. Unfortunately they are getting pummeled 4-0 early in second half.

Thankfully Banks rating looks decent especially given the score. Reading between the lines it looks like the keeper may be having an all time night mare. His rating right now is a 2.8. I have never seen a mark that low

Unfortunately Banks rating plummeted in the second half with team losing 6-0.

Keeper is currently at a 1.7. I did not know they could even go that low. Hope this disaster does not force the coach to make changes that effects Banks.

Juan Agudelo retires, another in the laundry list of young talents who never panned out like we hoped.

He retires as the second youngest player to ever score for the US. Only Pulisic has scored as younger.

the little I've seen of him, he looks like his energizer bunny best... including his limited minutes for the US. don't know that his best is what the US needs- but I at least "get" what he's doing lately. there was a period when it just didn't look like viable big-boy level soccer.

The general consensus is he had his best game ever for Leeds this past weekend. He's been pretty soft when I've seen him earlier this season (I didn't watch this week) but the Leeds fans that saw this weekend commented "if he played like that even 20% of the time he'd be a fan favorite." I'd like to think he's turned a corner and the stats you posted suggest maybe he has.

I think we have a tendency to write guys off too quickly. Most of our team is still pre-prime so they will improve.

Its super easy to say a guy "isn't good enough" but a lot of guys make big leaps into their prime years or learn how to carry club form to country. We've seen that in the last year with Richards, Tillman, and maybe even guys like Tessmann and Morris (too early to say for sure).

How old were Salah or KDB when they broke out as world class? It wasn't at 21, that's for sure.

Note - not saying any of our guys will be that but just the trajectory

I know what youre saying im terms of "soft", but i think hes less soft and more...weak. what ive seen of him this season has been the guy nipping at ankles, going at guys defensively and offensively without fear...but just not big-boy enough to get a lot done- pushed kinda easily off the ball on wither side of it too much.

But what ive ssen the last few games, including minutes with the US, is a quickness and tidiness on the ball and with his decision making going forward- getting out of the way; f getting muscled off things by changing direction and pace quicker and making rhe next play quicker

Its still not must start level play to me, but i finally "get" what hes bringing again. I can see the upside again.

Gio Reyna did himself no favors in this interview

- Poch said it's a good trait for players to have a good attitude whether playing or not
- Gio said his behavior in Qatar stemmed from frustration in not playing AND his regret is limited

Gio had to have known the AP was going to ask him about Qatar and Pochettino. This was his response? Pochettino made it clear about an important trait he wants in a player. Gio made it clear he doesn't have that trait, at all. Seems like a self-inflicted wound

It comes back to him also joining Borussia Monchengladbach. They're heading into a tough relegation battle. Gio doesn't seems like a player with a profile that fits a relegation battle. Maybe Reyna makes the WC team. He has talent. But he also can be his own worst enemy
 
I'm not nearly as bothered by Gio's comments as the big press dudes are. Because I read it as him not taking the full blame for the entire **** storm that came after. And maybe I didn't like him saying it wasn't all on his family either, but they are his family. He said he would have done some things differently. I don't know how much we need him to self-flagellate for behavior that wasn't even with the current manager (and when he was just turning 20).

He's saying now that he's going to put his head down and work. That's all we can ask of him.

I think maybe he could have framed it differently.

He could have still explain it like he did but say he has learned and grown from it.

Honestly I don't think it will matter in the end. As I mentioned a few days ago, if he can't even start for one of the worst teams across all 5 big leagues in Europe, he probably will not make the squad.

Looking back with hindsight, here is my blame pie:

GGG: 5% (there was no upside to telling Gio before the tournament even started that he was not going to play)

Gio: 20% (you can't be a biatch about these things, no one on the staff or players wants to hear or see anyone whining)

Parents: 75% (just unbelievable how dumb they were)

Yeah...what a waste. But something keeps keeping him out beyond his innate ability. Ive reached a point with him not even cracking PT once again for another relegation level team that i have to write off all if my expectations for him and just stay resigned to him being a cautionary tale.

This, although I'd place a little more blame on GGG since he should know better. He's the coach and the experienced one, Gio was barely 20.
Not excusing Gio, and yeah I'm not a GGG fan so take it for what its worth.
 
It’s being reported that Mathis Albert is going to be promoted to the U23 Dortmund team officially this winter. That is the Dortmund 2 team. If that goes well, it is expected in the summer he will be called up to the main squad for preseason.

According to Record, Joshua Wynder ('05) is expected to start in Benfica's next League Cup match this Wednesday against Jordan Pefok and Tondela.

This will be Wynder's first experience against a Liga Portugal side

I have changed my mind. I am actually bumping GGG up to a healthy 20% as I forgot about the moronic interview he gave where he thought he was off the record and spilled way too much information that should have been kept internal.

Maybe 20%, 20%, 60%

The 60% feels low though given everything that happened but I don’t want to let Gio or GGG off the hook either.

Ah yes the GGG throwing gas on the fire thinking he was wearing a fire suit. So much bad....

I would maybe drop Gio's fault % down. He's a kid called into the biggest moment of his professional career and then basically told he wouldn't get to be a major part of it. And maybe even not a minor part of it. Any one of us would have acted the same at that point and at that age. Yes he needs to take some blame for his actions. And his parents did him absolutely no favors.

20% / 10% / 70% feel better to you?

But if memory serves both Gio and Pulisic made the jump from the U19 team to the main squad. Neither played for Dortmund 2.

I don’t know if this means they are less sure that Mathis is ready or if they have just changed their development steps a little bit for players.

Although I think Pulisic may have been a little older at this exact point when he jumped from U19 to main squad.

It's almost definitely the age thing. Pulisic and Gio were both 17 when they jumped to the main squad. Those 18 months are pretty big for developing size and speed IMO.
